Life / Can an American in Poland renew American Passport here? [18]

I've renewed and had extra pages added to my passport at the US Consulate in Krakow. I've even reported my daughter's birth abroad and applied for her US passport there as well. Waited about 2 weeks for the passports and waited 5 minutes to have pages added as they did it on the spot.

Life / Where to watch US election in Krakow? [17]

Try the bar/restaurant Someplace Else at the Sheraton hotel. The place is loaded with TV screens and I'm sure that at least one is showing CNN.

Travel / Parking in Krakow [9]

You need to be an early bird to get the good parking spaces. Here are some places I park to get close to market square.

Kleparz parking behind LOT ticketing office. 3 pln an hour
Pay parking lot off of Krowoderska, across from Russian Consulate. 4 pln an hour
Pay parking lot off Karmelicka, next to church and across where they will be building the new hotel complex. 4 pln an hour
Galeria Krakowska as well. Depends

or, find free parking near a tram stop and just take the tram in. 2.50 pln each way

USA, Canada / Banking from the US in Poland? [4]

I have zloty and USD accounts with Citibank in Poland. My bank back in the states is Citibank also. Money transfers between the two are simple, yet even more simpler when sending money from the US to Poland via Citibank Global Transfer, costing only $8 per transaction, and done instantly. However, from Poland to the US, sending money is done by regular wire transfer, costing $30 a pop, and 2-3 days wait. I believe you can open an account online but you will still need to show up in person to present your documents.

Food / Frozen uncooked shrimp in Krakow? [3]

There's a small Asian food store in an open-air shopping area called Tandeta that sells frozen shrimp. Prices were quite cheaper than what you would find at the bigger supermarket chains. Another place is Makro, if you have a membership card.

Travel / Staying in Krakow at the Pollera hotel, 100 euro a night [14]

Check out inyourpocket.com and look in the hotels section for Krakow. There are many places to consider that's less than 100 euros a night, especially apartments in market square. I had a friend visit from out of town and reserved him a place on the corner of market square for around 70-80 euro a night, including breakfast. I think the place was called Old Town Apartments.
