Language / adding się [21]

Thread attached on merging:
That crazy little word called: Się

Ok so I'm not sure if I should really be asking this question but can somebody please explain to me the role in Język Polski of that annoying little word 'się'? It seems to pop up to me in the most unexpected of places (or to me any ways ;P) I've always thought of it as meaning 'yourself' is this correct?

Thanks.

How stupid of me not to do a search.

gumishu

That is a really great simple no BS explanation and just how I like it.

I am not great with my own language so it helps me if I have simple explanations of these concepts.

Thank you!

MrBubbles

Sometimes it helps to keep things simple. I don't know of this grammar terminology and get confused easily so for me it was a good explanation.

Language / Polish Conditionals (okresy warunkowe or zdania warunkowe) [23]

mafketis

Your getting ahead of me now....

I wish I was at that level but for now I'm happy with understanding what conditional is.

I'm getting there... it's baby steps but every little helps.

Thanks for your help.

Language / Adjective/Noun Order? [20]

A few months ago when I was fresh out of my 65 hours of intense Polish tuition

Hi Tony,

I was just wondering where you had 65 hours of tuition?

Thanks.

News / Poland - a foreigner and a native Pole - different point of view...? [24]

I've never been so theres the start of my opinion...

I always look at Krakow as Polands most beautiful city with all those church spires and the town square sticking into my mind oh and also the castle and the river that flows through it.

I'm going to visit one day for sure! :) I heard from a friend that the prettiest Polkas come from Krakow...

I'll be the judge of that! ;P

Language / "The Polish Language Boom" [9]

Siema. Polish language boom.

Classes teaching Polish have become increasingly popular

;)

Why aren't there more English schools teaching Polish over French! Surely more use nowadays.

szarlotka

Still, I'd rather know the word for beer in Polish rather than French any day! at least I know plenty of Poles that are actually in the UK, I mean, when was the last time you saw a French person!

(Waits for one-upmanship examples missing the point! ;D)

Food / What do the Poles think of salt and vinegar crisps? [32]

I like salt and vinegar squares they are lovely along with pringles sour cream and onion also mccoys grilled steak flavor and quavers.

I gave my missus a pack of quavers the other week and shes notoriously hard to please and hates english food she said she didn't like them... but ate the whole pack for good measure :D
