I grudge buying one ! When you consider the mire the BBC is in - dodgy phone comps, Paxman making up statistics etc etc

Food / what kind of sauce should I make for my gołąbki? [63]

I have only ever had them with tomato sauce. Anybody tried putting a bit of chilli in the sauce, I hadn't thought of it until now but it seems like it could work. Mmmmmm.....

The local supermarket sells Golabki in a jar, I haven't tried it - it dont look too good.

BTW - Scotland needs 13,000 migrants a year. Figures out today show that the birth rate is the highest for years, partly attributable to the Polish migrants.

Sorry, I forgot - also high risk, very fickle market. Starting out I suppose its best to start off small and grow within your comfort zone.

I know nothing about retail and not much about business - just a dreamer.

Heres my idea for a business.
Rent a shop in a trendy resort like Sopot( for six months starting around April ).
Sell trendy clothes from Western Europe ( Diesel, Replay etc)
See how its going after four months - extend lease/buy.

Your average Pole will not go there but there is a new class emerging with money to spend.

Any thoughts ?

Came across this clip in YouTube. It isn't funny or quirky in any way. It is just a short clip filmed in Bydgoszcz 1989.
For me, it was interesting to see the cars, clothes people were wearing, etc in Poland back then.
Lousy sound, probably best with sound off.

They are more kind of in the middle to the bottom of the walk.

Leith has changed dramatically over the last five years, gentrification has happened in a lot of areas.Still manages to retain some of the old character tho.

You are right, big change now. There are at least two Polish delis on Leith Walk, the best is Deli Polonia at 237 Leith Walk. Most started off stocking jars and packets of stuff but now they are getting a good range of fresher food. There is even a Polish bakery on Home Street.

Fryzjers all over the place too !

oh also, people speaking ENGLISH is a big deal for me since uh thats all i can speak.

The decor is plain but the food is really good, reasonably priced and plentiful - just the way I like it !
The Menu is traditional Polish food.
My usual is the Zurek to start with followed by the Pieczony schab and finished off with some Sernik.

It does not have a licence for alcohol but you can buy this from the shop next door and take it in with you.

Everytime I go there are Polish customers which is a good sign. You can pick up the free Polish magazines and flyers here. It probably only has seating for about 20 people.

Talk to the owner/waiter, he is really friendly and helpful. You can't miss him - he has a bald head.

Your friend is going to love Edinburgh !
Try "Bigos" on Leith Walk. It is a Polish restaurant run by Tad from Lublin.
If she is walking from the town she will pass a couple of Polish Delis on her way.
