News / Absolutely balanced vision of Russo-Polish affairs (in Russian) [39]
I cannot read Russian so I used the Google translator to find out what this article was all about. The translation is adequate to make some judgments. The article is a classic Soviet propaganda piece full of historical distortions and lies. First of all the Poles did not murder Russian prisoners of war in 1920. That is one of the big lies in Soviet history used to divert attention from the fact that NKVD did murder prisoners as a matter of policy and the Red Armies of Lenin did the same. During WWII probably over 3 million prisoners of war were murdered by NKVD. Anywhere from 120-180,000 Polish prisoners of war were murdered by the NKVD between 1939 and Dec. 1941. Katyn is only a symbol of these crimes.
Here is another seemingly innocuous lie but a very big lie just the same. Quote:
“Many wonder why images of Poles in Dostoevsky's novels are always negative.” That is a big lie. I read his “Notes from the Underground” in which Dostoyevski describes his life in a Siberian prison and his many contacts with Poles all of whom he admired. I think this lie is included to show that Poles were hated by anti-Tsarist Russians, for whatever it is worth.
What one sees in this article is the classic Russian non-response to issues. Instead of responding to charges, they go into attack mode and throw a thousand lies out there for people to read. Most people just don’t have the patience for it. Those who read such trash end up believing some of the lies, because they cannot fathom the fact there there is no truth at all in the entire article.
