News / Germans file WWII claims against Poland [198]

I havent been hear for a while, but I'm back, and I decided to write sth here. I'm polish and I lived 4 months in germany. I've never met any germans who showed me that they hate me, dislike me and so on... but the fact is that i dont have any german friends.. during my stay there I made lots of friends, but mostly form australia, greece and uk... the problem is that polish and germans are totaly different... i dont know how it s possiblle, but i cant go out with germans cuz there is no fun.. their jokes are not funny for me, and i'm consider a bit as a alien over there, cuz i like laughing, and i m smiling all the time, they are too serious for me, they cant understand that ppl like messing around...

i think the problem is that we cant understand each other, and i think we will never understand.. there are some exeptions of coruse, but exeptions make the rule...

i reckon also that germans have polish complex, that they couldnt hold our land, and couldnt germanize us... throughout the history hardly ever we were friends, that why it s so hard now to make it better... people remember history, and some of them cant understand that the world is changing all the time, but also people believe in stereotypes and they generalize like a German

UK, Ireland / Those dreaded English Guy / Polish Girl stereo types!! [11]

now more or less I know what you mean.

How many times did Amathyst say 'pardon' when you were speaking to each other. How many times did she give you a little smile, which you thought odd.

I cant think of any. but I think here also more or less I know what you mean

The other allowance in the accent. -- Say 6-7-8 quickly in Polish and feel what part of the mouth you are using and combine that with the natural upward lanuage stress on the penultimate syllable in Polish. Now say something using a sarcastic intonation in English. -- See she's not taking the mickey.

Especially funny when a Polish girl says -- I really like you in English. and you think she is being sarcastic when she's not.

can you be more clear? I understand words but have no idea what you are talsking about..is it because I'm polish???

Travel / Pubs or disco in Wroclaw, Krakow, and Warszawa? [30]

If you are a 33 year old tourist and want to go to the pubs/bars at night, where do you go in Krakow? Are all these places for under 30's?

Jason

you can go everywhere... but usually ppl over 30 (I mean polsih people) go out in Jewish district (Kazimierz). to places as: Alchemia or Kolory.

but you can go anywhere at maket square as well. there are many ppl in different ages everywhere.
