It's totally off topic so I'll start a new thread on Russian achievements lol.
Just stick around.

Russian preaching anti-corruption is something non plus ultra !
Your constitution's first words are "And God gave us otkat (corruption)".

ukranian government is on the Russian salary

Again nice gesture of Kremlin - Yushchenko and Julia on your payroll. lol
Paying for on-going ukrainization, pro EU and pro NATO propaganda is like presenting Ukes with Crimea lol.
Let them have Sochi too.

lesser :You wrongly associate nationalist obsessions of future ages with this era.

C'mon ... speaking about 19 and 20 century events one has to asociate it with patriotism, nationalism or chauvinism.
No way around it.

Agreed, first rebelions had more social character (with some religious color).

quote=ConstantineK]I want to remark that Poland never will be able to prevent future reunion of Russia and Ukraine[/quote]

Constantine I'm deeply impressed with your last posting - I fully agree with you, my friend.

Poland has NOTHING to do with Ukrainian decisions.
But if your are reading Ursa's translations you may know my views.

I'm pro Ukrainian as a hell lol and I know that every day of freedom (from Russia) makes them more independent, more European, in the longer run more pro-NATO.

People like you make a great job for Ukrainian independence showing Russia's true face and imperialistic intentions.
Thanx bro.

News / America: Take your missile base and shove it! [116]

Bubbling about "Slavic brothers" does not make any sense.

First, Russians are not Slavic - they speak Slavonic language only.
(like Celtic Irish speak English language - does it make them Englishmen ?)

Then, their main occupation in the history was oppressing Slavic nations like Poland, Ukraine, Belorussia etc.

Yes for us - base in Poland.

Improved Polish - Ukrainian relationship makes a thorn in Russian chauvinists' flesh.
Russia has built her superior imperial status on the false myth of " gathering Russian lands" and on the stolen Kievian Rus' heritage.
It's about all.
Plus agricultural resources of Ukraine.

Even todays stub of CCCP tries openly interfere in Ukrainian domestic affairs so we can count on political provocation in the future.

To avoid provocation we have to speak openly about Polish - Ukrainian history.
Actually it's a long chain of terrible Polish mistakes with the tragic final - Volhynnia slaughter.
And there is no way around - so called Ukrainian Insurgent Army and OUN are responsible for it.

They started the mass killings which resulted with 60 - 70 thousands Polish victims what is excellent proved by historians.
The number of Ukrainians killed is less known and if some historians (Polish or Ukrainians) claim 20 thousands it's speculation only.

I see perfect similarity with ethnic cleanings in Serbia.

But the reason for it was repressing the Ukrainian independence movements by Polish state.
Never ending story of Ukrainian rebels and Polish repressions.

History / Why has Poland been attacked so often by its neighbors? [180]

And this is my contribution to the thread about peasants.
Fascinating life of Russian villages or rather
"urban population" in small towns:

Watch it carefully - it's kinda Russian remake of Ferreri's
La Grande bouffe lol.

We've never talked about it much

Just a plain lie, good for people who don't know Russia at all.
Watch some Russian TV.

History / Polish soldier stories [50]

My great grandfather killed with his Ulan's sabre 5 Bolsheviks in the Battle of Warsaw 1920.
19 years later my Grandfather avoided Katyn becoming German POW.
The rest of the family survived wading across the Bug river and escaping to the German zone (GG).
Majority of their Polish neighbors were killed or deported by Soviets.

History / Pre WWII life in small town Poland [19]

Wrong.

Even small cities in previous German and Austrian zones had electricity, tramways, city gas etc.
Not to mention some movie theatres.

On the contrary the Russian sector of partitioned Poland was one of the most backward regions in Europe.
Maybe with exception for big cities.
The rest was just like Russia.

History / What Happened in the Danzig Corridor 1939? Poles Slaughtering Germans? [133]

I'm fed up with BS posted by German-kielbasa boy.
First of all in the most European countries Holocaust denials are not allowed.
Then bubbling about innocent majority of good Germans is a plain lie.
Just read some books from Hanna Krall how those "good natured" Wehrmacht soldiers representing mostly the German middle class bravely shot Jews in East-Poland.

Same goes for Wehrmacht crimes exhibition from Reemtsma.

Speaking of "innocent" Germans be careful cause on the end of the day maybe only the Scholls are left.

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

You are confusing two different things:
political support for radicals like UNA/UNSO which is rather low even in the Western part and some very strong myth of "freedom fighters" unfortunately represented by Bandera, OUN, UPA.

For the time being it would be counterproductive to fight the myths.
Ukrainian independence is still very young and needs clear lines of historic tradition.
We have to choose:
either we start discussing the past or we consolidate all pro-Western powers in order to keep Ukraine European not Russian.

For me it's some rhetoric question.

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

Where did you get these figures and have you been to Ukraine? They look good only for Eastern Ukraine, if you mean Western Ukraine or Ukraine on the whole those figures are out of place.

My figures are based on the elections' results.
They differs from East to West but under 1% is the average.

Then, how does it count in this discussion if I've ever been to Ukraine or not ?
Enlighten me pls.

History / How Vanya won the Battle of Grunwald. [18]

If you are tired you can always stop reading the forum.
At least my postings.

Then, what kind of the "Slavic unity" you mean ?
Polish-Lithuanian ?

Lithuanians are not Slavic and Polish-Russian unity is something like a double-headed cow.
Never existed.

I will leave the forum ASAP.
After clearing some chauvinistic lies.
As promised to my friend Constantine.

I thought there are three trees in that famous place where the brothers separated.

These oaks in Rogalin are only about 700 years old. lol

History / How Vanya won the Battle of Grunwald. [18]

Yep and later on they defeated the Lord's Vader Army.

PS. The Lithuanian retreat was a part of king Jagiello's tactic.
Soldiers from Smolensk didn't get the orders on time.

History / How Vanya won the Battle of Grunwald. [18]

You probable don't know but our Russian brothers deeply in their patriotic hearts believe to have won all battles of the universe.

The only dissonance is the Polish - Lithuanian Grunwald (Tannenberg) victory 1410.
But Russian scientists offer a reasonable solution of this critical issue.

In those old days Russian Smolensk was a part of the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania so the city fulfilled its vassal duty to the Lithuanian senior.

Smolensk sent two tiny units of about 700 soldiers both, less than 1% of the total.
But their contribution to the victory was not forgotten.

According to the Russian historians they won the battle what makes Grunwald a common Russian - Polish and Slavic victory over the Teutonic Knights.

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

"out of proportion ?"

With all respect to the victims we are speaking about some 100 - 150 thousands killed by UPA and probable 10 times more murdered, starved out, tortured to the death by Russians.

But it's not all.
Today, support for UPA (UNA/UNSO) rather does not exceed 1% in the polls.
On the contrary, Russian president who was a prominent member of the KGB enjoys 60 - 80% support..

History / Significance of May 3rd in Poland [21]

Crow, I have to disagree with your "Slavic references".
Of course Poles are part Slavic.
Me too.
But it's nothing I'm taking any special proud in.

For me German and Czech monks, Dutch colonists, Jewish traders are by far more "Polish" and had more impact on our culture than any (more or less) mythical Slavic links.

Even Sarmates were not Slavic - they were Iranian Alans.

"Slavic" means for me some forced connection to Muscovites.
BTW, they are even not Slavic lol.
They are "wannabe" Slavs who crated the famous myth of the three brothers Lech, Czech and Russ.
Polish and Czech mythology knows two founders of Slavic countries only.
Brother Rus is a free invention of the czarist propaganda.

History / Significance of May 3rd in Poland [21]

Thus amount of people having influence on state policy shrank.
Can you elaborate on this ?

Then, did I use "backwardness" as a label for Polish system ?
Not at all.
"Degenerated" is the best expression for what it was in the 18th century.
And there is no way around it - it used to work perfectly in Jagellonian times due to the high moral standards and patriotism of ruling elite.

The Vasa kings destroyed the system.
