UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

When I told one Scot that I've been here for 2.5 years, he told me I'm Scottish now. I have no choice but to stay in my new motherland :)

Hahah :)

I say if you [a general you] are here and want to count yourself as Scottish [or even partly] then you are.

UK, Ireland / Migrants' advice packs proposed - from BBC on Poles in the UK [15]

Incubus, are you available for public demonstrations? My area is particularly bad for all of the above haha.

The original advice pack seems to be a waste of time, I'm sure they could have provided more relevant and useful advice instead of common sense.

'Commonsense', you have expressed your feelings of superiority now - what is left to say?

Why not go have some fun with your girlfriend now and stop moaning on a forum for people who are either Polish or who have some interest in Poland and/or its people.

do nothing to the debate, contribute to bettering peoples' knowledge/ideas

You make me laugh. The point is, there have been a huge amount of threads and hijacking of others dedicated to what you are saying. You are repeating the idea of many forum trolls before you. I have contributed to some of those threads, expressing my ideas, and I won't do what you are doing by being repetetive. Why say something I have said before on the forum? I've almost been part of this forum for a year [under another name] and, like others, are bored with your type of contribution.

In other words, I'm not going to **** off.

This maybe a public forum but that doesn't give you the right to waste web-space with

...your childish rants.

Wait... it does. Doesn't mean we have to like it.
In your analogies - is the 'father' or customers at the pub saying the same thing over and over again to me to provoke my response? If so, you may guess my answer.

Tornado, I'm _Sofi_, I just have a new profile.

I haven't asked you to contribute or even read my comments

You don't have to, people may post in any thread they wish to.

I was not being disrespectful, well - trying not to be!

Telling someone to f**k off is very respectful.

I've read some of your posts and they're all crap!

..and I enjoy yours...

I could insult you and take the same tone as you do in my responses, but I don't know you, nor do I care to - I was only telling you that we have heard this all before.

Let me guess

You have already shown a fine imagination [i.e 'look at people with an inept, doltish and moronic smile safely'].

Scotland welcomes immigrants.

Not all of it. Noimmigration is Scottish remember, and I know plenty of people who express the feelings of the OP. I wish they wouldn't express it to me. I hear it often in my workplace, especially since a recent experience in another department of my job. I experienced a lot of bitterness towards Polish and other workers not born here.

On the other hand, the problem does seem to be less here [and it may be just my area which is particularly bad with this bitterness] as people from other areas of Scotland on the forum have expressed the same view you have.

Though, I think someone once said this may be due to proportion.

awful things he said about the Lithuanian girl whose body was cut up and dumped

I never saw that. He is a very twisted individual. I thought he couldn't get any worse after his other 'joke' about the Polish woman.

Things like this - I find it to be ruining the forum.

I was just reding through the recent posts with a view to updating the Omnibus Edition.

I'd guess it is hard to find amusing things or interesting things on the forum to sum up when there is so much negativity, and most of it expressed in such a horrific way.

I hope it passes.

Feedback / Translation Threads - where did most of them go? [23]

I guess we're going to have more repetition of translation requests in the future - except we can't just tell someone to go to the search facility lol. All those translators' work - up for a new batch? ;p

No lol, I mean is it archived, because we'd have access then..? Maybe :/ I only know one other forum and they have archives available for viewing anyway [but not adding to etc.] .

Admin administered the snip hehe :)

UK, Ireland / Do many British carry knives? [60]

I'd say it depends what area you are in. In mine, most guys and many women/girls do. It is fun.

UK, Ireland / Do many British carry knives? [60]

There used to be many knives in Glasgow but there was a big clampdown.

Still happens though :( Last time I had a night out there with friends I was threatened with one. Stupid part was, her friends were holding her back, but mine had to do the same with me because I was tipsy and not pleased with her... Would have been a very bad move. Only time I've ever [well... jointly] tried to accept a fight instead of leaving it. She had to go and hit my best friend though...

Sofi, you're getting quite violent these days, aren't you?

I'm just very protective of my friend, especially when drunk apparantly. I looked back on it with surprise myself lol.

Knives are for cowards.

I agree completely. OsioĊ‚, didn't you know that about chefs?

risk of someone whos just a little bit harder than you, taking it off you and shoving it where the sun doesnt shine.

I must be painting a nice picture... but I know someone who did was attacked with one and took it off the guy and it ended up in the owner's leg.. I didn't approve, he could have just thrown it away and punched the idiot. I was disgusted at the thought, actually.

Pity about that dent in the car hehe.

I don't know why people bother in my area to do it, I see random stop-searches all the time and know of many being caught. Maybe they just do it again because the punishment is not enough..

UK, Ireland / UK is Poles apart from home [39]

Some people are just never going to have a lot of money themselves and won't ever afford a place bigger than their home - should they never have children?

More people should really ask themselves if having kids is the best idea.

I get where you are coming from about what is best for the child, but honestly, there would be so many people who would be never be able to have children if they followed this - which is some punishment for being poor. It seems a little cruel. I'd consider what kind of life the child would have myself, but it is not as if this couple won't be able to feed/clothe and love this child - they are doing well enough I'd say.
