Many thanks ;)

UK, Ireland / POSK, London - what is it like these days? [27]

POSK has a coffee shop and a restaurant with very nice food. Definitely worth a visit. From time to time they also have some expositions. Regarding to polish language, the hammersmith and fulham courses for adults runs a polish course based in POSK which is not great but good enough for beginners.

UK, Ireland / 2 years in London, maybe it's time to go back to Poland? [60]

Back to the topic, Siegfried

Yes, sorry about that, but this woman or whatever she is just gets me sometimes. I'm just 26 years old and still learning how to deal with stupid and nasty people.

So Siegfried, I think if you see yourself in Poland you should try to go back. You can always come back to London if it will be the case.

I hope things will work out for you.

hide nothing PJ

Well, I really would like to meet you and see how much you have nothing to hide. I have few ideas how stupid and ugly you can be, but I'm sure you are much worse than what I imagine. Someone who has a life wouldn't be in polish forum all day long worring about foreigners who are happier and probably much more clever than you. Good luck with your life (if you have one that is).

and people do smile in London, just not when they are on the tube. Imo the Poles generally look more miserable than the average Brit.. theyve always got something to moan about.

Yeah... because english people never moan?!?!?!?!

Life / Studying the possibilities of living in Poland.. [34]

but tell me one thing though, is it too chocking to learn everything new? language, culture, people, food.... ?)

Hi Gleite! I'm also from Brazil and I think I can answer some of your questions regarding to culture shock, weather and food. Although I've never lived in Poland, I go there every year to spend a few days. PM me if you want to ask something :)

Life / Present for Polish friends ~ is anything hard to get any more? [57]

What about a coffee table book just containing pictures of british landscape? I know it`s not very useful, but it could be a nice present.

Tea as well is not a bad idea. Everyone in Poland loves tea (not as much as in England tough:)). I don't know how easy it is to find English breakfast tea and Earl Gray in Poland.

Work / Mexican looking for a chance to work as a musician in Poland...... [7]

Hi! You will be fine. Polish people love Latin things. There is even a salsa school in Poznan, I just don`t recall the name. I wish to know how to dance samba :)))

Best of luck.

Related:

I'm a Latin musician and dancer. Any chances in my profession in Poland?

Do you know how many chances I have here to succeed in my profession here in Poznan?

hola;)

don't know exactly the chances for you but "latin" is quite popular and your first step should be asking in latin clubs...check muchos potatos (stupid name but it works;) - always busy;), piano bar (in browar), cuba libre, and sth around wrocławska street but just heard about it...they like to organize salsa lessons etc.ask there, who knows. at least they will give you more info where to look for sth.

suerte!!!!;)

Travel / Other than Krakow or Warsaw, which cities should I visit? [18]

I would go to Torun. It's fantastic a city and not many tourists. Perfect combination. Maybe you can stay in Poznan and make a day trip to Torun stopping over in Gniezno (first Poland's capital). It can be a nice road trip.

Travel / Most Amazing places in Poland. What does it for you? [90]

Were you there to party - thats when it really crowds up

No, I went once to watch the Kitesurfing competition which was crowd but nothing that bothered me (and I hate crowd places) and other 2 times just to enjoy the almost virgin beach.

Bladdy ell mate its only small - too many people there already!!!!

It's cute and the beach is perfect. I've been there few times and couldn't see too many people. Maybe it's because I live in London and lost the notion what overcrowd places are :)

my current obsession with the Baltic Coast

If you like Baltic Coast you should go to Chalupy. It`s really nice place and in summer time they have Kitesurfing competition.
Personally, I love all the way to Hel :)

Great post Zgubiony!

Polonia / What are the similarities/differences to life in Brazil versus Poland? [14]

Hi! I don't know if there are many brazilians using this polish forum as I've noticed the majority of people here is from UK, USA and Ireland. However I'd like to ask the brazilians out there who lived or live in Poland, which are the differences and similarities from Poland to Brazil? I've been to Poland several times, but as a tourist and I think you have to live there to get the feeling from the place and see what really bothers you or pleases you.

Thanks,

J.

Life / Retail outlets in Poland that are also in the UK? [10]

For example the stuff in Zara, Warsaw, just does not compare on any level to the things you can buy in their branch here in Dublin. Polish women tend to dress quite conservatively and the stock reflects this.

And strangely the clothes I find in polish Zara are more expensive than the ones in UK and Spain (the same ones).

Life / Polish people driving abroad, is the license valid? [3]

Believe me or not but I`ve already called everywhere I could. They gave me several answers, all of them differ form each other. First they said it`s valid for 3 mth, then they said I would have to ask for an international one, and so on.

I wanted to know if someone had such situation because I don`t have a clue where else I can look up for information.

Food / Polish summer soup [8]

It`s a red soup. Actually it`s a pink soup. All I know is that my husband uses barszcz concentrate and fresh cream to make the base and then add garlic and all that. I have no idea how it`s called:(

Food / Polish summer soup [8]

Hi everyone! Last summer my hubby introduced me to a polish summer soup that I can`t recall the name right now. It`s made with barszcz, dill, plenty of garlic... it`s divine. I`d like to surprise him and make the zupa myself. Does anyone know the name or even better has the recipe?

I highly appreciate... and my hubby as well ;)

Food / Krakow Restaurant Recommendations [17]

Polskie Jadlo is a really nice one. Good tip! It's a chain with at least two in Krakow. But my favourite one is Pod Aniolami. They have great tradicional polish food there and the atmosphere is also something beautiful. It is a old cellar and you really have impression you are back in time. You can have a look in its website podaniolami.pl for the menu. Enjoy!! I`m jealous already :)
