Law / Polish emergency passport [12]

This cannot be true, surely?

Of course not... How a Polish citizen could even apply for a visa to visit own country ?? That's nonsense. Either that person didn't understand what the embassy worker ment or the embassy worker is a total idiot. If that's the 2nd case then he/she should call the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Poland and tell them about It and If they don't react fast enough then contact the media and tell that about this unbelieveable crap.

Life / Expensive brand retail outlets in Poland - how do they survive? [19]

Christ... Don't you think these shops would simply bunkrupt If the income really wasn't big enough ? If somebody sells expensive clothes then makes on one item more cash than someone else selling 20 pairs of some Chinese pants, It's that simple.

Wroclaw Boy:
turns into a biatch fest between my wife and the shop clerk.

Clearly the clerks are jealous that your wife has been fortunate to marry a wealthy foreigner who can afford to buy his lady expensive clothing.

Yep. I'm sure they cry all nights after a visit like that. And the male clerks could even become faggs just to have a chance with a wealthy and sexy foreigner like WB. Seriously If Mrs WB is anything like our super duper wealthy boy then I'm really not surprised that It happens.

Life / Could I live on 2000zl in Poland? [30]

You can live a good (but not luxury) life on 2500 zl in most cities (maybe except Wawa and Krakow). It's more than most Poles get per month.

Average salary in Poland is ~2400 net a month but most of low income Poles don't have to pay the rent, older people either live in some municipal or social flats or own flats, which during communism had been owned by companies/institutions they worked in and later they bought them for a small part of real value... and most of young low income Poles either live together with their relatives or rent a flat with some other people. If he didn't have to pay the rent 2500 a month would be really OK but If he wants to rent the flat for himself then that's a different story.

Life / Could I live on 2000zl in Poland? [30]

My question is could I survive on that kind of money? I would like to rent a small 1 bed flat and preferably live in a city.

Is it possible?

No... Unless you really mean survive... cook at home, don't go out anywhere, don't fly back home etc. and anyway that's outside of Warsaw, Kraków and I think Wrocław too... and 400 GBP is a bit less than 2000 PLN, remember that the exchange rate is fluctuating all the time... On the other hand for 3000 a month you can survive anywhere in Poland and live really quite well in smaller cities/towns... and I think that making 1000-1200 a month teching English part time (If you are a native speaker) should be possible even If don't have qualifications for that.

Law / Ease of doing business - Poland ranks 72nd in the world [8]

you don't even have too much businesses which require to obtain license in order to run in law.

We have many of them, idiotic tax system (high and very complicated taxes), huge burocracy, complicted law which often can be interprated in many different ways, serious problem with corruption (maybe not as big as in Russia but one of the worst in EU) and total morons in the government no matter who wins elections. Sometimes I wonder why this country hasn't fallen down yet.

Life / HOW WIDESRPEAD IS RECREATIONAL DRUG USE IN POLAND? [30]

Some Polsih newspaper and online reports I have read in recent eyars (don't ask me to cite the exact sources) suggested drug dealers were poised outside of many Polish schools ready to sell their wares for pupils' pocket money. Maybe it's just journalistic hype?

Well, occasionally some idiot may try to do that but It's a matter of days when he is taken down. Generally If you don't know the right people It's difficult to buy drugs just like that on the street. Of course there are drugs in schools but not that some ugly guy stands outside the school and sell It, It's rather some kid who knows the dealer, buy from him for himself and sometimes also "załatwia" the stuff for others.

Life / HOW WIDESRPEAD IS RECREATIONAL DRUG USE IN POLAND? [30]

Are drugs expected at most of the parties Polish teens and 20s attend?

No... Personally I tried soft drugs only a few times and that's a totally useless sh*t, vodka is 100 times better. Out of hundreds people I've known only 2 or 3 got into series problems with drugs. 90% of them have never taken anything or tried only several times, the rest for some period of time were smoking or taking some pill once a while but later (except a few weed smoking hippie) gave It up. Generally there's a problem with drugs in Poland but smaller than in most of Europe or USA. And any quantity of drugs is illegal here, so unless somebody has some connection It's really not easy to buy.

Life / Car stereo thieves - is this a problem in Poland? [23]

people that will here loud music coming from my car will follow me, wait until i park and steal my stereo.

Nonsense... But obviously If you start flashing everbody around with some expensive audio equipment there'a a risk that some day (or night) somebody will steal It.

(In Sweden you got Swedish steel, in Germany Krupps steel and in Poland they steal)

LOL ! Do you know how many children average Dutch man have ?

Life / Why do Poles drink so much? [161]

0.5l is 20 shots so around 10 beers. Most people would be flying around the room after that amount.

Nonsense. If a healthy man can't handle 0.5l through the night (not drink It at once of course) then should visit a doctor because that's not normal.

History / Silezia: Breslau, Wroclaw or something else? [16]

Breslau (German) Wrocław (Polish) or the Silezian name for the capital?

In Wrocław you could use your fingers to count "Silesians", After WW2 the population exchange in the city and most of Lower Silesia was close to 100%. Serious number of "natives" (although still a small minority) are in the Upper Silesian aglomeration and rural areas of Opole voivodship and some of these people see themseves as Germans, some as Poles and some as Silesians.

I would like to have some views on the statement that Silezia neither belongs to Germany nor to Poland.

Most of It belongs to Poland, small parts to the Czech Republic, just look at the map, It's not really any secret knowledge.

Life / Why do Poles drink so much? [161]

YOU shouldn't drink that much then!! You'll kill yourself!

LOL ! I would have stopped immediatelly If had been only a mile away from killing myself. I don't now how that happened but It just stopped giving me the normal effect. I can drink a bit more than average person but normally I'mseriously drunk after 0,5l.

Life / Why do Poles drink so much? [161]

That's absurd.

I'm not kidding. I thought that's impossibe too. I've been drinking every night for a week, not to get drunk but to have some fun... my theory is that the nervous system get used to that stuff when you have It in your blood for a long time.

Life / Why do Poles drink so much? [161]

I've had afew days off recently and on the last night I drunk 1,5l of vodka and you would have to be really close to even notice that I'm drunk... I shocked myself and that's not really an easy thing to do... But I won't touch that sh*t for the next month at least.
