Travel / Fly to Poland [32]

Hey All.
Just booked Wizz air from Liverpool to Katowice in October £1.00 return flight £0.01.
plus Taxes and supliments. Didnt add up to £145.00 for the three of us. Is that a good deal or what?........

BUT...should we stay in Katowice for the rest of the day and night, or go on to Krakow that afternoon?

Food / is" kaszanka" a Polish speciality? [54]

I've got a little book at home from the late 1940's , when everyone was urged to grow thier own and pig breeding was encouraged. always remember the opening line which read "The Only Thing Wasted On A Pig Is The GRUNT".

Kaszanka/black pudding call it what you will, is delightful.

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

I went to Goa India new year and January, couldn't belive it they are so racist towards black africans and any negroid people. So much to the extent that I heard of american black people refused admition to resteraunts.

Sailed with nigerian catering staff aboard one ship, and one poor steward led a dogs life from the rest, aparently he had the wrong tribal marks on his face, he jumped ship up the creeks probably close to his village.

The point is racism is inbred, to the point of " we don't know why we hate them , we just do" How nieve I was to think back in the early sixties, that thing would change.

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

This is good..

This is a poem supposedly written by an african kid.

When I born, I Black,
When I grow up, I Black,
When I go in Sun, I Black,
When I scared, I Black,
When I sick, I Black,
And when I die, I still black..
And you White fella,
When you born, you Pink,
When you grow up, you White,
When you go in Sun, you Red,
When you cold, you Blue,
When you scared, you Yellow,
When you sick, you Green,
And when you die, you Gray..
And you calling me Colored ??

Language / The Value of Movies in Learning Polish [40]

HI Monkeyboy!

Alot depends on where you live , America and Canada there is tons of polish dvd and video available on ebay good products at good prices.. in england polish film are quite scarse, got one last week from the music store , it was the only one in there.

I find them great, dont care much about the film content. If you get them with subtitles, watch the film without the titles on for first two or three times, see how mutch you can understand then use the subtiles to fill in the gaps.

Watch and listen over and over again learn just as you did when you learned you mother tongue, watching and listening, subtitles are your mother ...there to explain when you were baffled.

Language / The Value of Movies in Learning Polish [40]

I've just been on the blockbuster site, and just couldn't find one polish title in 30.000.
So I rang the local blockbuster store....answer was we have foriegn language films but don't know what language they are. They asked for titles to search, I gave them six they found none.

Seems to me there is an opening for someone here.

Wroclaw... where can we obtain the sugested title?

Language / The Value of Movies in Learning Polish [40]

There are many American and Canadian Polish film suppliers arround with the best range to choose from, but problems do occur in the UK.

The format --make sue you can play the movie when you get it....NTSC disc and video won't play on older players ...Rule of thumb , if its made in black plastic , its probably pal only.

If you have a more modern player you may be able to change the region to read NTSC but this can be troublesome. Its a lot easier on the computer to change the region and change back, but computers don't show the subtitles or play tapes.

So if your buying from the Americas make sure you buy a compatible product for your system...............

Life / Tv/Radio service fee in Poland ("abonament") [12]

Here in England we have to pay radio/tv license fees on buisiness computers in work premisses. The authorties know all modern computers are capable of recieving and transmiting radio signals.

This applies weather it is used or not, the fact that it is capable make it liable to duty.

one more buisiness tax !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love / Eastern European Girls Common Characteristics [40]

Aren't they easy after few drinks in a pub?

It depends on which girl and which pub she's in.

I'ts all down to self respect, alcohol loosens people up it won't turn them into sluts.
Too much drink makes women and men stupid and throw up. Who wan'ts to lay a girl with tomato skin stuck in her teeth?.

News / This is horrible... Baby farm in Poznan!!!! [41]

"A buyer could be anyone. It did not necessarily have to be a family wishing for a child. We have evidence that such children could be sold to pedophiles.

I wonder how their mothers feel when they realise the possible fate of their children.
