Genealogy / Wiktoria Wachtor born in 1922- Poland ? anyone Knew? [7]

Hi everyone,

My mother recently found her sister through the internet. My mother was given up for adoption as was her sister and brother in Poland. It is believed there is more children? My mother was born in 1954 her sister in 1956 and brother in 1947? Her mothers name was Wiktoria Wachtor born in Pasierbiec in 1922. We are looking for any information anyone with the last name? Maybe someones grandma or great grandma. She has since passed away.

Thanks you

Genealogy / Wiktoria Wachtor born in 1922- Poland ? anyone Knew? [7]

Beazee,

We originally did search U.S. This is difficult because most likely the child who was given up for adoption would only know their real last name if they did in fact see their original birth certificate. It is believed there is another boy born in the 50's. We do know of some family in Poland already. Krakow area i believe. The family in America I did send some e-mail to. No on knows anything. I did notice Wachtor name was on Ellis Island passenger list in early 1900's, this was before Wiktoria Wachtor was even born. There could be settlers from very distant family. Most of her relatives are still in Poland.

Genealogy / Searching for my Father- Help Please! [14]

Keep your hopes up! We have been searching for my mothers biological mother for decades. We google her last name all the time. One day we saw a posting that someone is looking for a relative who was born to the same mother. It turned out it was my mothers sister. We are going for a reunion in Poland and she found out she had a brother too. They were all given aay to childrens home when young. Google is a wonderful tool. You should find out exact spelling of first and last name. Where you were adopted from, and take it from there. Does your original birth certificate have your fathers last name. See.... my mother does not know her biological father as well, this birth certificate only says mothers real name, and unfortunately she has passed away since, so we can only meet some members of the family. We were shocked when over one day we found out SO much info. We live in U.S too so it is tough not being there to do the research. Wish you all the best in your search.

Genealogy / Looking for sister, conneticut? Originally from Bielsko Biala [14]

I live in CT. Your situation is like ours. I just joined this forum in search of my mothers brother. We just found her sister by googling my biological mothers last name. To our suprise my mothers sister was looking for her. My mother didnt even know she had siblings. They were all given away to childrens homes in the 50's. You need more information. Start from scratch.. U need the name of the childrens home. They will have your information , then you will know you real last name. I live in CT so I would be of help. We are actually going to poland next week to meet the new family members.

Oh, thanks for all the interest and feedback! That's why I'm asking. I am really interested to travel to Krakow.
How far away is it from Warsaw.
The places I mentioned are all places where my aunts and family live so unfortunately I must go there but I plan to sight see some more exciting locations.

My plan is to spend the last night in Warsaw as well so I do not have to drive far to the airport.
Do you have any suggestions on hotels????
How long is a train ride from Szcecin to Warsaw?

I know Michal. LOL These prices are scary. It's the dollar, it's worth nothing now. When we were young we felt like the dollar was a lot of money when we went to Poland, now it won't even be enough for chewing gum!!! I'm leaving Wednesday. I will be flying into Warsaw.
