actually Seanus you're just unfamiliar with Polish custom. In Poland one only goes to take communion if one was at confession not too long ago. It is considered disrespectful going to communion if you haven't been to confession (or in church for that matter) for 2 years or so as everyone does it here in the US.

Language / The final "ę" [29]

If you're educated and proper you will pronounce the "ę" at the end of a word, although it doesn't sound awful if you don't. An "ę" before an "ł" is an "e" sound whereas it stays as an "ę" sound after the "ł" (the word łęczna, for examle).

Also, an "ę" is NOT an "en" or "em" sound. Once would sound really stupid pronouncing "się" as "sien" or "siem". Same goes for dziękuję, etc.

I wasn't saying that the statement was false I was saying his implication that kolega is not a friend but a colleague is false.

But now that I think of it his statement is false as well. If you don't like your colleague you would not say kolega, thus meaning that kolega does not mean colleague, but a person whom you are friendly with. A colleague CAN be your kolega, but not necessarily.

yea it would be kolezanka if you were on friendly terms with her. If you didn't like her then that word would not be used.
