Love / Should I Be Nervous About Going to Poland? Black female dating a Pole. [158]

LOL ahh well i'm a black female(Jamaican) with a Polish bf, I have been with him for 3 years and have no problem with his family or friends...you seem a little obsessed with this whole race thing. Yes racism exists and all but we live in England after all. I doubt there will be much difference with going to Poland. I am aware that Poland is ehtnically homogenous but who cares. There isn't anything to be nervous about in my opinion

Life / WHY POLISH PEOPLE DON'T USE THEIR NATIVE FIRST NAME WHEN ABROAD? [136]

ASHAMED OF YOUR POLISH NAMES

lol wow, i'm not polish..but i don't beleive them to be ashamed of their name
i think the reason for sometimes giving an english name instead of a polish one is the fact that a lot of other people have a mental block to pronouncing names correctly and yes you are right they're not always hard to pronounce, maybe if you are reading a polish name it could cause some difficulties. personally i like the fact that they are able to give an english version of the name, so i can be all like OOo so Pawel = Paul etc. on the other hand i think they are just being nice and try to make it easier for a non polish speaker =]

Life / Saying Grace before eating in Poland's homes [10]

Hmms I am also Anglican, we used to say grace when I was in Jamaica
but since moving to England we rarely have family meals together. So I don't pray before a meal anymore

I've never seen any Pole say grace before a meal though, which did strike me as odd at first. I just thought it was because they moved here and couldn't be bothered to.

UK, Ireland / How to get Polish TV in Britian [17]

I am suprised that Polish TV is not yet available on Sky

I'm not surprised, there are no Caribbean stations either even though we came here in the 60s :(...mostly african and middle eastern channels :(

I had Polsat but i didn't think it was that good, Cyfra's better :D, plus I can hear bits of English underneath the Polish translation when I watch movies on HBO =]
