Travel / Krakow information: looking for pubs/clubs for students. [22]

We will be arriving in Krakow late April and need some infos.
We don't really like touristy places, so we are looking for pubs and clubs frequented by students etc. with decent prices. Maybe there is even a whole district like Kreuzberg/Friedrichshain in Berlin or Zizkow in Prague.

Any ideas?

How about bary mleczne? Any good of those left in Krakow?

We would like to travel on a week later or so to Prague.
What would be the easiest and chepest way to go?

Thank you so much for all the tips!!!

Unfortunatly the only bar mleczny you can find in guide books and forums as a Non-Cracovian is U Babci Maliny, but with all the recommendations we should be good to go.

Can't wait for all the Zurek, Barzsz, Golombki, Pierogi, Nalesniki..............

Thanks again!

EDIT: Just found the train connection to Prague for 19€:

Travel / I am visiting Szczecin (food, accommodation) [8]

You should pay ~5PLZ for a beer in a pub and ~7 in a night club.
Meals @ a normal restaurant ~30 per person <10 @ a bar mleczny(milk-bar). I would recomend Bar Turysty or Jagielonia.
I recently stayed for ~80 in a decent hotel Gryf.

Life / How many people really know English in Poland? [53]

Uniwersytet Trzeciego Wieku ("the university of the third reich" or something)

Easy there, i think you are mixing something. In this context it means university of the third generation.

Food / Breakfast style bread [32]

I think you may be referring to 'Drozdzowka' with raisins.

Sounds right to me

Very similar to the French Brioche.

News / Poland. Sold for nothing. [341]

Well..you must agree...Polands politicians are not famous for their smartness and much of Polands misfortune is due to incompetence of their ruling class...

I agree, but what do you have to show for it? Schröder? Merkel?

Merkel is in another league...yes she is a smart politician!

Another league? Smarter than who?
If you're thinking of Schröder, who was stupid enough to take a job for Gazprom right after stepping down as Chancellor, instead of just cashing their checks, i agree? Unfortunately that scandal was conveniently covered up by your beloved Springer Presse and a few weeks later nobody cared 2 hoots about it.

Merkel herself is not clever, but very cautious and first and foremost an excellent reader, not even speaker. Links? Google "Erblastentilgungsfonds" or "Brutto Netto".

Also wanting to brawl with the Nazis, thinking the french and brits will come and get their nuts out of the fire should the need be ("In one week in Berlin!")

You must be kidding! Where do you find that stuff?
I guess, the Poles where also responsible for the "Reichskristallnacht" and for the "Gleiwitz incident"?

Didn't they have the right to do so? It was supposed to be a "Free City" afterall.

As far as we know, Poland has not yet received any official details of this plan from Germany. However, the German Government is now saying that, as no Polish envoy ever arrived in Berlin, Poland has therefore rejected these proposals.

So not smart!uhoh

Dude, that's called selective reading.

Edit:

They wanted (rightfully) back into Germany or at least a good connection.

Just another pretext. And if Poland agreed to that they would have been overrun in days.
The people had actually an excellent connection by boat, but it's difficult to bring in troops by boat.

I'm not denying that, it's just the constant request for links that got me going.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

I am really wondering why you come here and spread your propaganda.
What's your connection with Poland?
Any relatives, friends or interest?
Or do you just enjoy trolling around, because you have no life?

Imagine Poles coming to a German Forum and rubbing **** like that in.

Life / How can I get my mobile phone unlocked in Warsaw? [6]

Just take your mobile to any shop, where they sell used mobiles.
"Unlock" should do the trick.

BTW: There are new calculators, that can even unlock a BB5 online.
Just don't try it to often, so the people @ the shop have chance.

Love / Polish men vs German men: Who is hotter? [513]

Actually that is Austria and we all know you have strong ties with them. ;)

And what do you know about Turks or Arabs???
I bet you don't even have a Döner shop in Hinterfotzenhausen.
