You can get Danio in Tesco in Glasgow - I get it from the shettleston branch, although I'm sure I've seen it in a few other places. I'm not sure where about in Scotland you are, but if you're in Glasgow there are a few wee polish food shops on Duke street which sell danio too.

I have the opposite trouble, and often find myself putting english words in when speaking polish, even though polish is my native language. I live with my scottish wife and only work with english speaking people, so really only get polish conversation when I phone home fortnightly. I think my polish is slowly going down the drain; dunno if anyone else has that problem, or if i'm just weird ;)

According to the army careers advisor I spoke to in Glasgow, a Polish person can join the army after gaining british citizenship. As long as long as you have this there should be no disrimination regarding your country of birth and which positions you are entitled to do. This is certainly what I was told when i enquired as to whether I would be allowed to join the British army.

If you are going to come to the UK, just try to either come with a job offer, or with enough savings to get live until you do find a job. Maybe you could try applying for some of these Cad jobs whilst still in Poland and see if you get any replies. If you find that you are getting nowhere due to still being in Poland, you might have to take a different job here and continue to apply for cad jobs whilst in the UK.

I've told this story on here before I think, but it makes me smile so I'll tell it again. I met my (scottish wife) around five years ago when we worked together. I spoke no English and she spoke no Polish, and I had to ask a friend to ask her out for me. Going on dates I would take my phrase-book/dictionary and would pain stakingly look up ever single word!! we've now been married almost a year and can thankfully communicate without too much trouble!!

I'm a Polish guy, married to a Scottish female, and I think we work really well together. The language difference was a minor hinderance at the start, but communication is possible if you can be patient! My parents have no problem with the fact that I've married a non-Polish girl...

When I first met my (Scottish) wife I never spoke a word of English, and she didnt speak Polish. It was pretty hard at the start, but with the use of body language, lots of waving our arms about and a good old fashioned phrase book, we got there in the end!! It was a good laugh, and sure we misunderstood each other plenty of times, but if you really like someone and can be patient enough it can work...if you both want it to :)
