Life / muslim community in poland [430]

salam, brother
being Polish muslima and living here in Poland I may be able to help you.
first of all- there are muslim communities in Poland and there is halal meat available there.
as far as I know -in Warsaw, Katowice, Poznan and Wroclaw. smaller islam centers do not provide the opportunity of buying halal meat :(
I would strongly recommend you Wroclaw as the ummah there is mashaAllah very good, there is a very nice masjid there and the city itself is very beautiful. in smaller cities there is problem with halal food, but it is possible to find a farmer who would give you a helping hand. anyway you will have to be very careful considering food in shops, producers would add pork to many products, like fruit yoghurts, cakes, sweets, as well as alcohol- eg in candies. so be very careful and read carefully the ingredients list. in most cases 'chicken' or 'turkey' hot dogs consist of large amounts of pork fat.

as for the rasism here- you might find it difficult because people will spot you as 'different' in a blink of an eye. again depends on where- you can get plenty of attention -of all kinds. but muslim and Pakistani/Indian people live here and get used to it. or leave...

anyway if you have more questions pls pm me. try not to react to the silly remarks abt Sept 11th ect- those people apparently have problems with understanding what the topic of the thread is. they just want to insult you and islam- will use every opportunity to do so.

Khuda hafiz :)

hey Brother it's just like that- see those people would never do it face to face. Polish internet is full of them. it's like competition- let's insult islam and see what the muslim would do. their idea of having fun.

the only thing we can do is to ignore them- that really hurts them.

first of all- ash never said he was going to isolate himself. in fact I think he is far from that. for a practicing muslim it is crucial to get halal meat as well as to be able to join Friday prayer weekly. does it mean isolation? get a grip. it's 2,3 hours a week to do shopping and about 1 hour to join the prayers. isolation? joke right?

why are you so annoyed? we have muslims in Poland for last 600 years! Gen Józef Bem died as muslim. after the November Uprising the Pope advised Poles to sit quiet and be obedient to Tsar. whereas muslim Turkey was the only state who never agreed to Rozbiory. all through the Rozbiory era there used to be Polish diplomats in Turkey as if Poland was still an independent state. despite of wars Poland fought with Turkey years before.

I happen to be native Polish and a muslim. what kind of desert would you like me to move?
anyway- once Ash read all your comments- would you even think of him willing to make friends with all of us? if I were him- after reading all this- I would look for muslims only. what did the guy get after asking a simple question? and it was not 'tell me what your opinions on islam are' btw.

to Ash- I happen to be a sister alhamdulillah :D

Life / Religions in Poland. [64]

there are actually quite a few buddhist organisations in Poland, most influential is Tibetan buddhism /all 5 schools of thought represented, Ningma, Kagyu, Sakya, Gelug and Bon/ and Zen /in it's Japansese, Chinese, and Korean 'form'/. there is also a Theravada group.

here mahajana.net you can find information about buddhism in Poland and buddhism in general.
personally I know many buddhists, Polish buddhist monks and a nun including.

yeah so to what extend you want muslims to assimilate?
want us to change the way we dress. isn't it my own business how I dress?
want us to eat pork? drink alcohol? isn't it my own business what I choose to eat or drink?
what else?
whatever Ash would do he will never become Polish and no matter how hard he would like to assimilate still some people will refuse to call him English. rite? Asian, Paki, whatever. so what's the point anyway?

so looks like some people would like muslims to get rid of our culture, religion, sense of community but they would never give anything in return. whatever Ash does he will remain 'Paki' for some people.

another thing is- what kind of boredom makes some of you use every opportunity to insult islam. I admit this is something hard to understand. you use the language Goering would be proud of. take Der Sturmer read it and replace the word 'Jew' with 'muslim'- and looks like we have it. this is just sick.

Life / muslim community in poland [430]

hey I myself am Polish, native Polish, all my ancestors were Polish, well some Ukrainian to be honest. I live in Poland- what do you want me to be? I am not a guest. I am at home, but after reading such posts and realising how much people hate islam, and hate me only because I am muslim makes me wonder...

what kind of important tradition was that police puppet? please explain.

in my personal opinion though it has gone too far- police should never even pay attention to such claims. I think people who made them are nuts.

of course it is your business, but please don't go working at tescos and then claim you were not aware you will have to handle alcohol and pork, and sue them for all the fecking 'distress' it caused you. bunch of bloody spongers and time wasters.

I have no intention neither in working at tescos nor in coming to UK. happy now?

Don't try and force your beliefs on the majority and indigenous culture and expect them to be happy about it.

but the other way is perfectly ok? it's ok to force beliefs, or rather lack of beliefs on a minority?

btw- If I were a taxi driver I would think twice on taking a drunk person into my cab- regardless of religion. I am scared of drunk people.

Then they should have spoken out and told the nutters to get bent. Rather the UK govt bends over backwards for the nutters. Muslims are responsible for their religion and need to police it.

are you personally responsible for every action any Christian on this planet has done? I mean please! make complaints to the judge rather!

I admit anti-social apes is a good one lol :) congrats on this one.

anyway there are wackos everywhere but if a wacko happened to be born in a muslim country he would be always recognized by Western media as a muslim wacko and his actions will be always connected with islam although there is no such connection at all. whereas wacko born in Christian country is never associated with Christianity, which of course is good.

remember 2 Polish catholic mothers who killed their babies right after the delivery and kept their bodies home? one in Lublin /4 tiny bodies, in the fridge, amongst packages with frozen broccoli!/ the other in Lodz. not even one paper or magazine called them 'catholic' even though they were catholic. anyway did anybody stand up for these babies the time they were murdered?

does anybody call Polish people savages because of such tragedies?
how many babies die in Poland because of being beaten to death?
we hear and see it in the news too often.

JustysiaS, if islam was such a violent religion, what would world look like considering 2 facts: 1. there are over 1 bilion muslims, 2. muslims are everywhere, in every country in the world.

try to think for yourself.
another thing is- have you ever read the Bible? most people do not, and they claim Koran is a violent book. in Koran you will never find anything about God commanding people to kill babies. in the Bible there are such words.

and one more thing- you do not see muslims protest against terrorism. maybe you see only what CNN shows you. btw- the cheering people they showed after Sep 11th were fake. they were filmed on another occasion. why the film was showed after Sep 11th? think by yourself again.

it's not about the truth here, it's about resources. why would never USA attack Saudi Arabia? the most corrupted, sick muslim country in the world, promoting wahhabi ideology that is believed to be islam by many? why? because they cooperate.

why did USA wanted to attack Iraq and now, Iran? because they won't 'cooperate' and that's it. have you heard or read the latest speech od the president of Iran in the UN? please read it carefully if not.

why do you think you do not get acceptance in muslim countries? please clarify that.

and about wahhabism- I hate that sick ideology and what it does to islam.

Love / Love my polish girlfriend alot but under pressure from family [166]

salam, lovewithpolish... why your dilemma makes me feel sick...
you just play with the girl's feelings. I saw too many times desi guys who after some time spent with Polish girls return home to marry desi girl their parents tell them to marry. Did you think of it? Do you know how much pain and suffering it causes?

Marry her, be a man and be a muslim!
there's no 'modern' muslim thing it's whether you are muslim or not! Simple as that. You should not have any relations with non-mahram and you know it. You already have done so much mistakes now be a man and fix it. You think it's ok until your family finds out; big mistake, God knows everything. Think about that!

You just do the right thing, do istikhara and do the right thing man. It's not a game you play. It's real life. End this relation, or marry the girl.

sorry brother for harsh words, but you asked for advice.

well just in short:

desi is an adjective describing everything and everybody that comes from Indian subcontinent.
non-mahram is islamic term for person who is not related to you. well mahram is person from your family -eg mother, sisters, aunts, relatives you cannot marry, plus your wife. muslim man cannot have any kind of relation with any woman who is not his mahram. relatives of your spouse become your mahrams and remain to be ones until the marriage lasts.

istikhara is a special prayer done when somebody has a problem to solve, and seeks God's guidance.

it's not only about people, we have desi cookbook for example.
person of desi origins /Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, not sure about people from Sri Lanka and Nepal though/ who lives abroad is called pardesi I think.

'des' means 'country' in hindi.
