Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

Aha, true enough. I see what you mean now. Still, the Japanese concept of wa is breaking a little. My friend Yoko told me that quite clearly.

Pushing people into trains is hardly the model of harmony. Shoot, I can't cut and paste. Something's up with my computer.

Type in Japanese Train Fail to Youtube and you'll see what I mean.

Life / Wanna buy a rubber/condom (in Rossmann in Poznan)? [51]

Yeah, I feel that too many people tamper with things that should be left alone. The old adage, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', applies here.

No detail required, PD ;) I can imagine the fumbling and cusswords used with such flippety things like Femidoms, especially after a night out on the tiles/sauce.

Wouldn't it be funny if the MP suggesting those changes was called Johnnie Long? Hmm...maybe not ;)

Yoshi has amazingly strong feelings for a Japanese man, assuming that he is of course. They value wa (harmony) and he seems to be able to rock it, cool!! :)

I can't believe this hate thread has run to 34 pages :(

History / Heretics Asylum - The First Republic of Poland [50]

Maybe it's time for a redefinition of what it means to be Catholic, rather than just slapping on the sticker passed down by the parents. When you identify strongly with something, you will fight for it but you need to know WHY you are that thing.

Life / Wanna buy a rubber/condom (in Rossmann in Poznan)? [51]

I seem to recall getting a look at one in Living and Growing, a program shown to primary school students when they are 10-11. I guess you had that too, PD.

I'm not on expert on the nether regions :) but I imagine it to be sth takes the feeling out of sex. Ultra-safe, yes, but not good to feel it.

UK, Ireland / Polish 'exodus' grinds to halt! [6]

Well, that's what official sources say but it fluctuates more than a manic-depressive on his worst see-saw day :)

Well, the złoty went from 4 to 5.30 so a job of 1000 pounds per month would be converted to 5300PLN instead of 4000PLN. That's a noticeable difference!!

Life / Wonderful Poland.......but the attitude of Polish people [150]

What crap!! One of the safest?? BS!! Modest? Now I smell sarcasm. The English have a bad rep for disliking foreign 'muck'.

I didn't read the first page, maybe I should. I sense a joke posting above.

Exactly. Don't believe the hype of the RCC that they don't use contraception. Think about it for a moment, if you were a woman, would you really want to risk getting pregnant? Knowing how hard it is to get an abortion here, it is illegal after all.

Life / MARRIAGE IN POLAND bride and groom not Polish. [5]

Nah, it's OK now, I called Warsaw and they were helpful. I checked and the website content was naff.

The next obstacle is getting an authenticated birth certificate but I have found the correct website and it appears to be straightforward.

A caveat to any would-be married couple, don't give the local Registrar where you are getting married your original Birth Certificate. The woman in Warsaw told me that that'd be a fatal mistake as they don't return it to you. Hence, the procedure for the authenticated version.

Life / MARRIAGE IN POLAND bride and groom not Polish. [5]

Good point. I have an apparently simpler matter but it's proving to be otherwise. The official website says that, if I marry in Poland, the original marriage certificate is only deposited in the UK and not registered as a marriage. What kind of crap is that? That implies that my wife-to-be is not recognised in the UK and it also states that we have to formally apply for the marriage to be registered. Surely there should be instant recognition rather than just 'dumping' the original marriage certificate in my local Registrar's office in Scotland?

What kind of nonsense is Britain pulling here?

History / Poles and Falaise pocket - WWII [90]

I think it's hear hear, Isthatu, that one caught me out too.

Just as well I wasn't asked it in class, it would've been the bluffing face of the century.

History / Poland and Ukraine [240]

Did you get a transplant, pawian? ;) ;) Ukrainian at heart, eh?

Poland has solid enough relations with Ukraine. I'm not sure about this Timoshenko character though.
