News / Opinion: UN Calling - Where is Poland? [5]

The UN, the good old cowards who are convenient to criticise when things go wrong. The Dutch peacekeepers, what a joke! Those fannies had the audacity to party too.

Poland is in central Europe :)

Life / Wonderful Poland.......but the attitude of Polish people [150]

I'm about to be swept off to random.

The attitude of the Polish people. They love to complain. They make us Scots look like amateurs.

Totally feckin inconsiderate. They are shouting away. If my fiancee wakes up, she'll give them hell. Such selfish cun*s sometimes.

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

The defensiveness is virtually intolerable sometimes

The complete lack of the idea of fault and wrongdoing and accepting the blame.

The ethnocentrism is pretty appalling at times.

The selfishness and total inconsideration for others.

Their cheek and insolence is absurd. I was told to hurry up today when I had been waiting for 20 mins. Why should I rush when I was there on time?

The lack of personality of shrubs that just sit there. Even some flies entertain me more, at least they move around.

The organisation is terrible sometimes. They couldn't organise a pi*s-up in a brewery some of them. One person tells you one thing, sb else another.

They love to turn everything into a battle which I don't go for.

Outright lying and convincing others of their innocence is horrid. Put your hands up for fu*k sake and be a person.

The jibber jabber in Polish and exclusion of others.

Life / Wonderful Poland.......but the attitude of Polish people [150]

Sometimes it's like pulling teeth with some of them. I saw a very deceitful side today, outright lying and a total lack of the apology concept. What happened to me this morning was just low and downright wrong. Not only do they not accept blame, they pin it on you. I needed a beer or 3 to unwind and a Polish guy whom I met 3 years ago gave me his side on it. He lives in the UK now as he hates the arrogance and holier-than-thou, 'I'm never wrong' attitude of some people here.

Some people here need to swallow a defensive pride dissolution tablet. My whole morning was ruined by those buggers. I was promised that they'd never be late again but they were. Yet other Poles defended it. They club together like little gnolls and defend the indefensible. I got quite vocal which is rare for me.

History / "Shafting the Poles" [44]

Many did likewise. It's hard to point the finger considering virtually all the other countries did the same. Grubby little Sarkozy was in on it too.

Love / How do Polish girls like to be approached? [66]

And create somebody who will gibber away when half cut but ignore you the next day, assuming you ever see them again? No thanks!!

I never really tried it but it doesn't interest me. The ones in clubs were either devoid of substance or up themselves and aloof from contact. One of the prettiest girls on the bar scene here became my good friend. She was the GF of my friend but she ditched him and got married. She is a great person and gets 9/10 for looks. Poland needs more girls like that, down-to-earth and not deceitful and cold (I mean in bars, other ones are ok).

Language / Difference between zbyt and za [11]

Aha, thanks for that, gumishu. I had always assumed that they were 2 separate words. I occasionally do that and the Pole is surprised that I'm breaking the word up.

Hmm...when I start doing that in English I'll begin to worry ;)

Love / Polish People on Cheating? [39]

Ah well, he is a damn good singer. I'm not sure about his personal life, nor do I really want to know.

To my knowledge, he doesn't allude to them that much so no. Does he cheat too? ;) ;)

Travel / Places to visit near Czech border, help please. [27]

Kora is a little more expensive but you know where your money goes. You can sign a guestbook there. There are other cheaper places, one at which we stayed.

About Cohen's father. Cohen is as Jewish as Jewish gets. Your stereotypical Jew.

I guess that was a joke. It's as clear as day that Leonard Cohen is Jewish.

Travel / Places to visit near Czech border, help please. [27]

Yeah, I guess so. You could have a John Lennon 'lost weekend' there. A weekend is the ideal amount of time there. It gives you some time to get into it and don't forget that there are a few interesting shops there.

I recommend a place called Kora to stay. Wielka Brama street if my memory serves me correctly.

It's just a way of letting off steam for those guys. Still, they are only cheating their own conscience in the end.

History / Poland: dont blame us its the Germans. [174]

The Kielce Pogrom of 1946, depending on who you read, appears to have been staged. Still, to deny anti-Semitism at that time is to deny reality.

Dariusz had a point with ethnic minorities. Besides the Jews, they didn't have many.

Ceski Tesin appears to be quite run down when you cross the border but it's good to spend a few hours there. The beer is better, I have to agree. Polish beer is very good but the Czechs are one step ahead. The Czechs there are not overly welcoming unless you engage them. They start to talk then. Zywiec is, relatively speaking, close to the Czech border. I'd really recommend a trip there and at a pensjonat called Mega. What a cracking view!!

Very true, marriage is for a reason and it shouldn't be jeopardised by primitive lust. Yes, of course you can love another woman at the same time (the feeling I mean) but standing by your decision is vitally important.

Definitely bars. A club might be pushing it but you get to mingle with Czechs and Poles there. It's nice as a stopover. They have bars with jukeboxes on the Czech side. It's more practical than the Polish side but the Polish side is prettier.

If you were to look at it more closely, you'd find that many people do that when they go abroad. Opposites attract and the thrill is just too much to resist.

Love / foreign gays in Poland [59]

I am foreign and gay. My fiancee and I are getting married soon and she is the one for me. Who wouldn't be gay when they find their true love? :)

Love / Help, Polish men are very complicated! [51]

Sounds advice from Lir. The common prescription that emerges from almost all discussions on relationships is 'take it slow and easy'. A progressive approach usually yield the most positive results. Also, giving breathing space is becoming more and more important these days :)

Love / Help, Polish men are very complicated! [51]

Aha, so maybe all the non-Polish forum members should stop posting because they aren't Polish, right? Relationships are more universal than you think.

Brackie is not that good, delphi. It's more of a woman's drink. It has an acquired taste.

Another suggestion would be Ostrava as a bigger place but Cieszyn is the best bet I'd say.

Life / What should be done to make life in Poland better and more enjoyable? [94]

One answer springs to mind quite quickly. PMA, a positive mental attitude. Poland really has a lot going for it but this is soured somewhat by the attitude of some people.

I think also to be thankful for what one has could be another improvement. Poland has become more Western in the sense that they are forever competing with their neighbours to get a better car, what have you. A sense of worth comes from more than material goods :)
