Shouldn't you criticize the bad behavior not those standing up against it? BTW I am white so it isn't like I have some internal struggle with how I am treated in Poland due to race..I just see what my friends go through and it is disgusting. you have girls like this SAY they are not racist in the same breath they say don't mix colors. It is one thing to say you don't prefer a certain look to date...it is a whole other thing to laugh...act incredulous at the thought...and insult a race.

Most of them don't have the stones to push it if you stand up to them. They rely on ignorant or nervous types they can take advantage of. If you let them know in no uncertain terms you aren't having any of their crap they will back down...they will still give you attitude in some attempt to save face but they are all bluster.

Social skills here (Warsaw...small places are a bit better) are not what we are used to in the west...customer service is rude (they seem to take it personally if you don't have exact change...like they have to pay for it or something)...people do not hold doors or help people in public...they crowd onto the buses and trams without standing aside so people can get off...stop and talk in front of doors and lifts blocking people...you may or may not get a 'przepraszam' WHILE someone pushes you out of the way but never before. They know it is wrong and if you say something or make a thing out of it they get visibly embarrassed...yet unless they get called out they don't seem to care.

The short change thing is common so be sure to always count your change in front of them before you go....

The difference is I would have never said the racist things that were said here to begin with.

I am in Warsaw and some Polish girls are reading this right now...they think you two are gross and keep telling me that you do not speak for Polish girls and that girls like you give them a bad name...that's good enough for me.

Never heard 'sorki' in 4 years here...'sorry' is common but I agree doesn't sound good. I don't like the sounds of other language's words when changed to fit the new language.

Like if I said "przepraszam" but pronounced it according to American English rules it would sound really bad to Poles...same thing.

Language / Petition for Pimsleur Polish II and III? [10]

I called them years ago and even offered to help write programs for several languages that I had friends speaking. Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian etc. They said "no thanks".

I said "but we love your programs and they are coming out way to slow to keep up with the demand...."....they said "no thanks"

So it is clear they are not interested in advancing the courses...it took them 10 years just to come out with Polish I over the ten lesson set. I will have far surpassed the material in II and III by the time they create them.

Another example is Eastern Arabic...they just came out with II after about 10 years of I being out and III is not even close to being ready from what they told me.

Good programs but the current management is pathetic....and while I really like the system, they are WAAYYY overpriced for what you get. A typical I, II, III set would be nearly 1000usd if you buy retail.

You have here a post that compares white people to milk and black people to s@#t and instead of condemning this for the horrible statement it is you have people laughing and agreeing.

That is very sad.

In fact for someone that comes from a country that was devastated in the 30s and 40s by an Austrian/German guy with such attitudes about race is disgusting and an embarrassment to Poland and I cannot believe the moderators let it stand.

If you come to Poland and speak Polish you will here people in the street saying such racist things about you when they think you cannot understand. Damian it is like any place...some like a certain color and some don't....Poles are all white and are generally a bit racist really so your chances here are less than some places. Don't mind these folks...Polish people tend to be quite direct to the point of rudeness often. At least you know where you stand as they don't hide their prejudices.

That being said...there will always be some girls that like you because they see you as 'exotic' being a different color.

Good luck finding a non smoking place...98% of girls and 75% of guys smoke here.

Even when the law goes into effect against smoking in pubs they will ignore it like the Italians do.
