Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

I see you have removed most of the info from your page

Like what?
That I'm from Saturn?
That I can speak 99 and a half words of Polish (or couldn't you read that?)
Or did I stop saying that my interests include playing the guitar?

but i seem to remember your a Brit

I make no secret of being English.

but your willing to slag us off no end?..

No more than anyone else.

Why is that?

I slag people off who make comments that group people together in ways that suggest nationality dictates personal opinion, level of intelligence and so on. I make plenty of positive comments about British people. Care to read any of them? It's just that people who come into this site with pathetic, simplified opinions about Polish people (that's just the most relevant example to this site) do not get such favourable comments from me.

What drew you to this forum? I am asking you again.

All you have to do is to look at most of them to know they are not this Polish myth that you all seem to have i.e......Highly Educated....Blah Blah etc!!

Not many of them will be highly educated, but that doesn't make them:

w*nkers

Are all the so-called native people of Crewe highly-educated and therefore not w*nkers?

Isiol

OJ Graham?

and why shouldn't i be here?

I was interested to read an answer rather than just another question.
You seem to have bad things to say about Polish people. Anything positive from your experience?

Wroclaw Boy... I think he said from an earlier post he was from Romania Muppet!!.....

Are you making derogatory comments about Romanians?

edit: If the (temporary) county of Avon never existed, I would have been born in Somerset, so what are you saying about one of England's finest counties?

History / Polish Jews - they changed their Jewish surnames to Polish [532]

blah blah blah
some people go on about how 'The Jews' are ruling the world, or about some kind of conspiracy involving zionists.
The way it seems to me is that after the creation of 'The State of Israel', some of the people who came into power in that country took it into their hands to start behaving in a similar fashion partly to the European powers who had previously been oppressing them, and also partly in a similar fashion to some of their Arabic neighbours.

I heard an interesting documentary that explained how many Sephardic Jews whose communities had been living amongst Arabs and Turks for hundreds of years in relative peace, began to despair at the behaviour of their predominately Ashkenazi-originated leaders in their newly founded nation state in their behaviour towards their neighbours.

There are many Jews in the UK who are proudly Jewish yet opposed to the ideologies of the Israeli government and the ways the State of Israel behaves. I know and know of Jewish people both rich and poor, and of people who defend the actions of the State of Israel and people who oppose that country's actions (they are not all Jewish, it needs to be stated). I also know that there are Jewih people who feel the need for their own country who, at the same time, disapprove of Israel's behaviour.

Just as there are too many anti-Polish comments from British people on this forum that give an unrealistic view of British attitudes to Polish people, I believe, from the people I have met and knwown, the anti-Jewish sentiment expressed on this fprum are not representative of the average Polish person's opinion of Jews. Sure there are anti-Semites, anti-Zionists, racists and conspiracy-theorists and so on, but there are also many people who see the world as it is.

I might also add that anyone claiming that Poland is run by 'The Jews' is thereby claiming that Polish people are incapable of running their own affairs (the same goes for any other nation they make similar claims about). Stop being so Polonophobic with your pathetic 'Jews run the world' arguments - they certainly don't make me think any differently.

Law / Selling American Cars in Poland [16]

Isn't the petrol a bit pricey too? The stereotypical American car is quite big and very thirsty.

It's alright - I thought so before I even started the thread, but thanks for your advice.

merynos

Are they the exceptionally woolly ones?
Is there anything to rival the Herdwick for hardiness, brain-power and cool colouring?

UK, Ireland / British Journalist seeks Polish people [11]

I'll suggest it.

If this journalist is, as I suspect, after the worst cases, his story won't be the most journalistically juicy one - I have heard of far worse. I'd prefer a little more balance in some of these reportings - yes, these stories are there to tell us of some of the terrible things that happen, but worst cases reported in the media do have an effect on those who see, hear or read them, sometimes portraying not only victims of such events in a bad light, but also of entire nationalities and so on.

Also, this is not in Sussex or Kent.

if these Polish people are so poor, they won't have internet access i think

Some people start at the bottom and work their way up, so it is possible.

My flatmate started working here with no National Insurance, paying no tax, for a dodgy agency boss always paid everyone late. Now he works for a decent employer who helped to sort out his status in this country and he's paid enough to spend money on frivilous stuff and to play on the internet with his laptop computer (when he's not out drinking).

Love / The number of men seeking a Polish woman [85]

but Ive heard some people say once you've dated a Polish girl you'll never go back

Never go back? Or never look back?

I've never been out with a Polish girl, although I have met one or two.
On the other hand, I have gone out with a Londoner. I have also met one or two of them.
I'll never go out with another Londoner. They're all pure evil.
I also say 'Never say never.'

britain doesnt need more toilet cleaners or garbage men

We need more people in many industries. Why don't you try running a business in horticulture? Then try employing only British people. There are very few willing and capable of doing the work.

Language / How do people mispronounce your Polish names? [60]

i never knew how to write my name the best way for foreigner, to make him know how to pronounce it

Try something like just 'EVIL'.
Just a thought. Not the best one though.

Here's a question:
Guess what Cud & House Key is supposed to be.

Language / Voiced consonants in final positions in Polish [6]

There is always more than meets the eye.
There is always more than meets the ear.
The ear and the eye must meet with the voice.

A certain amount of impressionist skills are required.
You need to be able to do voices.

Irritatingly, my flatmate deliberately voices these consonants at the ends of words I'm forcing him to teach me.
Anyone know a good Polish teacher? Oh yes...

UK, Ireland / An Englishman's View on Polish flocking to the UK [53]

Utter rubbish

You can respond to me if you think I'm wrong. London has always been a city of immigrants, whether from all corners of Britain, mediaeval Europe, the British Empire, the EU, wherever. It has always been diverse.

the key to making Europe competative

People need to focus on their strengths rather than dwelling on their weaknesses.
Some people in some places realise this. It leads to versatility, productiveness and successs.

London is losing all its identity

London's identity has been ever-changing.
Forget about Britain as a land of immigrants for the moment. London is, and always has been a city of immigrants right from its Celtic beginnings. There is nothing new about people settling in London and continuing its ever-changing make-up. That is what defines it.

UK, Ireland / Polish and Foreign Drivers in the UK [28]

A few years ago, my boss went driving around Europe - France, Germany, Italy, Croatia amongst other places. No accidents until he returned to the United Kingdom whereupon he began driving on the wrong side. He crashed and wrote off his car.

Most of these countries are former British colonies

Many other countries, nothing to do with the British Empire, switched the side they pass on. Once upon a time, it was decided that all countries joined by land should drive on the same side.

St. Vincent & Grenadines

That name looks like it's almost the name of a doowop group from the 1950s in matching white suits.
edit: No it doesn't.
