Love / Conversation starters / boosters to date a Polish au-pair? [19]

You can tell her that you want to learn Polish. She would be the perfect teacher for you and it would be a good excuse to spend more time with her.

I used to be shy too, it just takes time to get used to everything and gain confidence. Make her feel very special. Get her flowers. A small gift. Be happy with each other and laugh a lot.

UK, Ireland / polish girls outnumbers polish men interms of relationships with native from uk or ie [178]

I am not comparing The English to Americans. I can't and I won't.
I've been to England numerous times and the ones I met were VERY polite. I think the difference is that English guys have more respect towards women. They take more pride in their looks, while Americans don't care how they look. And they treat women with less respect. I'm not saying all Americans are like that either. But it's the society you grow up in. And that's where the differences are.

It' this dreaded: "the grass is greener on the other side" thing.
I'm Polish and I was married to an American because at that time I thought it was cool. But in reality his thoughts and beliefs and upbringing were too different than mine. I have come home now. I'd do anything for my Polish guy and he'd do the same for me. That's where I belong. But when you're young and silly you want to experience how it would be with someone different from you.

Personally, I don't think it works.

Love / Polish interracial dating [333]

The guy has been living in one town all his life. He thought he knew everything because he goes to bars and that's where he gets his education. And yes, he did find a "slut", who shares the same interests as him, (smoking, drinking, taking drugs, etc.) so they will stay together. The only thing we both liked doing was SNOWMOBILING!!!! I like watching Packers, but not in a smokey bar.

I introduced him to horse-back riding, traveling, polish culture, etc. You do learn something new from each other but it's like comparing apples to oranges.

For example. You take a yellow warbler and introduce him to a ruby-throated hummingbird. They fall in love. They have diff. interests and hobbies. They think it's so cool that one can do things the other cannot. But after a while it doesn't work out. One likes to eat sunflower seeds, the other saps nectar.

Same with people.

Feedback / How did you find this site? [88]

I'm just curious how you found this site?
I found it by accident when I was surfing the net trying to get information on how to marry in Poland, and this forum showed up. I never heard of it before and the first thing that caught my attention was that wujek guy - without a head.

Work / Pay, salary in Poland. [54]

Ya, maybe so. But some things are still cheaper in Poland than in US. The rich people don't care how much things cost, they just want to travel and spend their money.

I like Hawaii but it is more expensive there than any other state. Florida's OK. In Mexico I find things really cheap too, but I'd rather go to Poland. At least the bread and pierogis are better.

But if they wanted to spend their money the same way in the US, it would cost them $10.000.

Good point. But yes and no.

He liked hunting, fishing, smoking, excessive drinking, football, cheating. So what's the point if I don't like shooting at animals, smoking, sitting in a smokey, crowded bar etc. Sure, I tried fishing and shared his interests but that gets boring after a while. If you don't enjoy it, then it's torture.

On the other hand, a person like you, will do things together that you both enjoy and you never will be bored with each over.

You can look at it both ways.

Real Estate / Real estate in poland - how an average Pole can afford such prices? [78]

Of course, prices of homes vary from state to state, from city to city, neighborhoods to neighborhoods

Very true. But don't forget about the dreaded TAXES!!!!! Each state and county has their own tax code. The average tax on a home is about $3.000-$6.000. yearly or more. The more expensive the home, the higher the taxes.

After spending all your money on remodeling, guess what? Your taxes go up. You just can't win. The best way is to live in a mobile home with wheels. Then you don't pay any taxes.

They say that "opposites attract".

Well, this is not true. I was married to a total opposite. At first I thought it was cool that he was so different than me. Boy was I ever wrong!!!

There is another part to this saying:
"But the 'same' stay together"

Travel / Fly to Poland [32]

I remember ages ago when you bought a ticket they would ask: smoking or non-smoking. But look at them now. Sometimes I wonder how these heavy smokers can make it across the Atlantic for 8 or 9 hours without getting their fix?

Maybe that's why so few Poles go to Australia?

Travel / Fly to Poland [32]

Ya, forgot about those cool personal TV's. British Airways has them too. But I don't think Heathrow is that bad. I like their round sit-and-wait-area surrounded by their too-expensive shops. I like all European Airports. Everything is so close and easy to find compare to O'HARE............

Travel / Fly to Poland [32]

SAS is good. You'll like it. I really like their meals which consists of pink salmon and marinated salad. Delicious.
I compared prices for LOT from Ohare to Warsaw and they were actually cheaper than connection flights. It all depends what day of the week you travel and how far in advance you purchase the ticket.

And yes, It is more expensive to fly from Florida. Just because they have Disney World doesn't give them the excuse to charge more.
