News / Euro Elections 4th June - Who will you vote for ? [110]

Europe goes right.

Rather wrong...

I am currently travelling and outside of Poland but will be back in the country this week end..

Soon we will have two weeks. EU apologists never keep their word...

News / Libertas - what chances does the new party have in Poland? In Europe? [23]

Transparency and truth won over Ganley's lies.

Ganley lacking transparency? The EU is certainly not transparent either. So, I ask about what kind victory of transparency you write? Obvious double standards.

Write also about this 'truth' by the way... Let everybody know.

/and now, you may pretend that my questions were never asked

News / Libertas - what chances does the new party have in Poland? In Europe? [23]

I wonder how much money was wasted in the campaign of Libertas in Europe.

Judging by results, not that much. If not free promotion organized by Farfal average Pole would hardly notice their existence.

We don't know exact numbers about Libertas but estimations were made how much case the EU spent on propaganda all over Europe.

Government propaganda is always irritating, especially because that means politicians are taxing citizens to pay for a snow job for those same citizens. The European Union is no different than the U.S. in this regard. The group Open Europe has published a new study detailing EU propaganda efforts:

Open Europe has published new research which shows that the European Union is spending billions of euros a year promoting itself and its central aim of 'ever closer union'. In 2008 alone, it spent more than 2.4 billion euros. That is more than Coca Cola spends on advertising each year, worldwide

News / Does Poland count in Europe or is it ignored? [427]

GermanMan have a point. I may not agree about some conclusions that he made but still there is something in the air over Poland. I blame mainly so called leftist intellectuals who to the large extend control media outlets in Poland. Those people are as they would say 'ashamed' of status quo in this country and they are responsible for starting all this craziness with "what Europe think?". Ordinary people here don't realize that western societies hardly represent any higher level. They don't realize that political establishment over there is not much better and in some cases even worse than Polish.

Oh, come on.

No, this is true. This was the biggest election failure in the history of Polish political parties. Polish voters firstly made AWS the biggest party only to kick them out of parliament four years later. Don't you remember?

Even PiS supports Buzek for a great cause. :):):):)

What kind of great cause it is. Please enlighten me? :)

Stop putting yourself down, as Solomon says. :):):):):)

Don't worry I keep my head high. :)

What else do you need???

If he just write nonsensical projects and talk BS, this is not enough.

I still remember the times when he was Polish PM, after this period his party AWS failed to win any seats in the next parliament. Speak for itself.

I just spotted that you quoted part of my post at the beginning. It is definitely not inferiority complex on my side. I don't identify myself with this state, I truly hate it. Although I try to control my emotions commenting political affairs I don't deny that by mocking something hated I feel a bit of satisfaction. (natural human instinct!)

History / Poland before WWII or Poland now what would you choose? [390]

Poland before WWII or Poland now what would you choose?

Before WWII I would chose pre-war Poland, today I would chose post-war Poland. I do really think that Poland overtaking bastion of Ukrainian and Lithuanian nationalism is a very bad idea. Would those people whom advocate such ideas really want to live in one state with several thousands (at best!) of Nathans?

News / Euro Elections 4th June - Who will you vote for ? [110]

lesser - PO are a bunch who are there wholeheartedly for money except the very top of them - they are there to corrupt power - as seen in many examples

The same about PiS.

they have quite unpleasant forces behind them - namely former secret service branches

Kaczynski use this rhetoric all the time and unfortunately still many people cannot see anything else. Most of old secret services is either death or retired. While business in socialist states always want to be in close relationship with politicians because state have much too say. PiS concentrate all their effort on historic policy and socialist demagogy.

- I don't believe you are an admirer of Mr Palikot

I'm not his admired indeed, also I find difficult to find one respect deserving MP in PiS. All conservatives already left this party. What is the name of this communist judge from PiS who was responsible for sentencing few members of opposition?

and there is place for everybody who really cares for Poland

Yeah, there is place for all of them in PO as well and SLD too. Conditions are the same, nearly complete rejection of their political ideals and moral values.

What examples?.

PO is not worth a broken cent, this is true. All those mainstream parties building bureaucratic leviathan because they will gain something from it. Many of those PO politicians have its share in dirty privatizations from the past. (MEP Lewandowski in particular) Of course I'm in favour of privatization but not in their 'style'. I mean shady deals, doubtful prices and complete lack of transparency.

and I think there is quite wise compromise on anti-abortion laws in Poland at the moment

I agree with Torq, there is no space for any compromises in fundamental cases like human life. Anyway, why to babble about compromise when we all know very well that the left never respected it?

News / Euro Elections 4th June - Who will you vote for ? [110]

sometimes you need to choose a lesser evil to stop the major evil

Please write why do you think that PiS is lesser evil than PO?

In Września PR got over 4% of all votes so things don't look that bad.

Two years ago three party alliance gained 4,75% in Wrzesnia. It transferred to 1,3% in the end and PR was definitely the weakest party in this trio.

they got a lot of support lately from catholic clergy and media.

Look at amount of media coverage for Liberatas. I'm curious whether they will be at least ahead of PR and UPR. This system doesn't give a chance to any new parties. Even if people would widely approve platform of minor party they think like gumishu what completely kill theoretical concept of democracy. (of course election threshold was not set incidentally by mainstream political establishment)

The UPR, LPR and Prawica Rzeczypospolitej are the so-called "setee parties" (partia kanapowa).

I don't think any of these so-called "political parties"

As far as UPR is concentrated, perhaps you are right and this is more a discussion club than a party. At least being a member of UPR is not a reason to be ashamed unlike to even sympathize with political parties of the mainstream.

When replaced with Mr. Michalkiewicz, the party turned out to be a little aniti-semite, as far as I can remember

I don't remember anything like that. Michalkiewicz was labelled anti-Semite because he spoke openly against Holocaust Industry (defined by Finkelstein), some kind of worldwide Jewish organizations that demand cash and claim to represent all the Jews elsewhere. While in fact UPR was the only political party in Poland that demanded re-privatization or compensation for individual victims. Tell me please why Jewish victims still cannot get back their property or be compensated? Apparently Polish political mainstream that failed to solve something so obvious by so many years is in fact anti-Semitic what was proved by their actions!

Anyway Michalkiewicz was a president of UPR between 1997-1999, so your political knowledge is a bit outdated...

remember that its brother, polish public TV is headed by a LPR politician, is that what you call mainstream?

Three notes:

1. We discuss about public radio or public TV? You know, whole this concept of guilt by association is not really funny.
2. What is really funny that according to you TV run by propagandists from PiS, PO or SLD can be considered mainstream while in case of LPR things change.

3. You still fail to provide evidence.

and await eagerly your apology which will no doubt follow!

This is your duty to back your claim by evidence. Why should I trust you? You seems to be very dishonest poster.

And btw, no, it's neither polish, nor german, nor russian for me.. Keep guessing!!

Another ericstic trick? I'm no interested in your language preferences. On other hand I would like to know your answer on following questions:

1. Does the EU should respect results of Dutch and French referendums?
2. How many times the Irish should be forced to vote?

You should simply write that you are not a democrat and oppose referendums in general. I would really appreciate honest answer unlike meddling.

News / Euro Elections 4th June - Who will you vote for ? [110]

Possibly. However, PR got 4,11% of the votes in the pre-election
in Września (UPR managed to get 2,94%) so they're not that far
away from the 5% treshold.

Wrzesnia doesn't count at all, nearly every poll is more reliable. Both will gather about 1%.

As for UPR's official views on abortion, it's not very clear to me
as I've heard them describing children as parents' PROPERTY
and they tend to lean towards libertarianism which might make
one wonder if they support or oppose abortion (Murray N. Rothbard
himself advocated abortion-on-demand in his book "The Ethics of
Liberty).

Property but specific property. They say so because states these days is quick to take children from their parents because some BS reasons. Also to promote home-schooling in opposition to state monopoly for education.

UPR always states that life begin from conception and opposed abortion. Of course they share many ideas of Rothbard, however there are significant differences. This is not only about abortion. Rothbard was an anarchocapitalist and opposed the concept of state in opposition to UPR.

I'm not sure what you mean with that last bit.

I meant that the EU and Europe this is not the same. I risk a thesis that average European is a lot more honest person than those corrupt parasites based in Brussels. Thus many Europeans would not wish those bureaucrats to be considered as some kind of 'essence of Europe'. They basically claim so, however there is no need to use this false rhetoric.

If they vote for him again I won't see French culture as favoritable at all.

My friend if democracy would really work we would not need to discuss politics at all.

I'm also shocked that you have this disgusting anthem on your ipod. It speak favourably about genocide.

Mistake! This will never be an issue of the French election campaign and you cannot expect otherwise. From the French perspective there is many much more important issues and this is completely understandable. I seriously doubt whether most of French voters even learn about this event.

Sorry Lesser to have taken a little time to revert, but I only just received from Polskie radio the soundtrack of the original interview in english without the polish voiceover translation..

Here is what Barroso said exactly:

I of course respect all political preferences if they are democratic and of course I'm particularly close to those who are proeuropean

I have provided reliable quote from mainstream source. Sorry but I have serious problem to believe in your words. I doubt that you bothered so much to ask them. I doubt even more that they would answer and I find it completely unbelievable that they sent you a soundtrack.

However if you claim to have this soundtrack, then this is very easy to upload it somewhere and post a link here. Currently this is only myself the one who provided a source. While you cannot back your accusations at all. Please do it.

How could I trust you if you refuse to answer to two simple questions. This is already third time and second thread when I ask you whether the EU should respect results of Dutch and French referendums and how many times the Irish should be forced to vote?

Does my weak English prevent you from understanding? Perhaps you prefer Polish version? Or German? Maybe Russian? :)

Well, I'm an honest European (or at least, I like to think that I am one :))
and I won't vote for UPR even though I completely agree with their economic
program.

I meant that every honest European should mock Brussels bureaucrats because their are obvious liars.

I'll vote for Marek Jurek's PR, because he's the only man who represents my
point of view on things that are way more important than economy.
Like abortion for example - if you kill an innocent man, slaughter him in
cold blood, tore away his arms and legs with some steel tool of torture
and then dump his body in the garbage bin, then what the fvck do I care
what you think of income taxes or infrastructure?

Look, I don't care how you vote. I perfectly realize that with or without your vote neither UPR or PR 'qualify'. If I have any hopes about any elections it is all long gone. If I correct your statement this is not because election campaigning. UPR call itself to be conservative-liberal not without reason, they always opposed abortion. So there is no conflict here.

Centrolewica should do well here in Warsaw - and they've got some good candidates. They get my vote

Could you write why do you prefer them over SLD or PPP?

I'm going to vote UKIP, its nice to know i can vote against europe without having to vote for the BNP.

You will not vote against Europe, you will vote against the EU. If you put equality sign between the EU and Europe many honest Europeans might be offended. Please be more sensitive...

News / Libertas - what chances does the new party have in Poland? In Europe? [23]

euractiv.com/en/eu-elections/turkey-shocked-franco-german-election-rhetoric/article-182187

The French press, for its part, interpreted Merkel's statements as a veiled attack on the UK Conservative party. "Those who refuse the Lisbon Treaty - which would allow us to work better and to take aboard new members - but who still talk about enlargement, we refuse to shake their hand," the AFP agency quoted Merkel as saying.

Your avatar says it all...

We agree here!

You still did not answer my questions. Should the EU respect results of Dutch and French referendums? How many times the Irish should be forced to vote?

It is because there is hardly any pluralism in Europe. There are some issues that you cannot disagree with political mainstream, otherwise you are "excluded from public debate". If one of those excluded miraculously find some space in mainstream media (Ganley because he stopped Treaty of Lisbon cannot be ignored), political elites start massive verbal attack and try to discredit political opponent by all means.

Recently I have read that Merkel said that she refuse to shake a hand to anybody who oppose Treaty of Lisbon... This is unbelievable arrogance.

PS: I will NOT vote for Libertas.

News / Walesa excluded from Polish national gala [38]

This also explains why men like Andrzej Gwiazda also of the Solidarnosc party, more well-spoken and intelligent man, who communists could have been afraid of, was never supported to run for election.

Actually Gwiazda has not more sense than Walesa.

Poland's own mistake is that their transition to democracy was far too slow, with 'controlled revolution.' Communists had good time to settle into new positions in government, instead of being ousted quickly like in the Czech Republic, with more dramatic revolution.

I completely disagree. Transition was too fast, communists (in fact opportunists) should run this state at least several years more and during this time introduce liberal reforms that could be hardly reversed when democracy appears. They of course take care about their own interest but left the state in mess with senseless president and truly socialist political elites. It was a disaster.

OK, I understand but still there is a difference. Churchill was realizing some political strategy, as far as Sarkozy is concentrated this is silly completely unjustified megalomania. I have heard that he wanted to invite only Obama. This is a bit similar to anniversary of WWII in Moscow. Over there Putin directed all attention mostly on himself and Bush. At least he invited others too.

News / Poland and Germany - Germany unhappy with the present border with Poland? [88]

Franco was Hitlers ally. Hitler practised tactics used in Poland on the Spanish people first in support of the fascist Franco.

No Hitler helped Franco in Spain but Franco did not back him during WWII. I don't understand how can you still repeat this nonsense. One could think that I explained Francist political doctrine in details in one of older threads. I suggest to use search engine and reread.

You should be grateful that Polish government stopped weapons supply for Spanish commies. If they would be too powerful, perhaps they would manage to win civil war. This could be interpreted as a gesture of solidarity with oppressed Spanish people. Later Franco also expressed his solidarity with oppressed Polish people.
