Language / Are there double letters in Polish Language? [6]

Double letters in Polish are pronounced like the name Anna would be A-n-na, so maybe it confuses him that double letters in English are pronounced as one letter?

UK, Ireland / Polak moving to north-west England [56]

would an Englishman even recognize the Polish Language as being polis

I don't think anybody really knows what Polish sounds like besides linguists, Polish speakers, and people with Polish friends
I was talking Polish to one of my Polka friends one day and someone asked if we were speaking French, and btw I live in Canada, French is an official language....=/

Language / Learnign Polish...any tips!? [33]

I think immersing yourself in the language is the best way.
Before I went to Poland and actually heard the spoken language, I heard Polish songs and could easily make out the words. Then when I heard it, I could barely make anything out because people spoke too fast for the words to translate in my head, so I could only catch words and not full sentences. Once you hear it a lot, I think you get used to it.

Life / Animosity between Poland vrs. Polonia? [98]

the government surely does... you actually used a unique country with that respect, as your example... french really overextend themselves for almost any amount of their own blood.. poland would do well to learn from them.

They don't see themselves as France French, just French. They think they are their own country=P
