Nice list but might not suit the US market;)

News / What does Poland mean to you? [66]

It takes two to tango. There is an obligation on us to be welcoming and the migrants to conform to our way of life surely?

Life / Warsaw - most boring capital in Europe, after Brussels - comments? [78]

It's not the best capital city in Europe but to put it down there with Brussels is going too far. Brussels- where watching the grass grow is the major spectator sport.

Seanus, Warsaw is far from boring when you know it. Maybe your fiancee didn't let you off the leash;)

UK, Ireland / Polish female bringing a chinese husband to the UK -advice needed :) [19]

we have a thorough and cunning plan to suck your country off all possible benefits we can lay our hands on, for which you've paid taxes for so many years.

I will remember this when I'm homeless, destitute and drinking cheap bottle of sherry on the streets with my mangey dog beside me:)

Love the humour

UK, Ireland / POLISH SUICIDES IN THE UK [21]

The way we, the British, "help" people is so ass-about-face at times.

An element of truth here. As a counter argument I guess you have to know to be able to help sometimes. There are channels for talking to people, Samaritans etc. I know it is more difficult to a visitor to know of where to turn. GPs are an obvious place but again there are reasons why migrants may not be able to go there either. In the absence of any form of outreaching then it relies upon a sympathetic person to spot someone in trouble. I'm sure most of us would try to help if we knew. The one person I knew that took this step looked and behaved outwardly the same.

Travel / "Ryanair cuts 11 routes to Poland" [29]

I hope Warsaw doesn't follow suit !!!

So LOT have friends in high places. Despite my hatred of Etuida terminal the attempt to price out the low cost airlines is shameful and, as the article suggests, counter EU competition policy.

Is this the type of airlines that you check yourself in, strip searched yourself, abused yourself in a customs officers military uniform, take the word "terminal" literally, you have to bring your own chair, you must be able to fly the plane and even have to provide the vehicle?.

In a word yes. Oh and the Captain is a bit rusty at landings.....

Life / Where to get a cup of coffee in Warsaw? [40]

What about Waynes Coffee?

Never tried them. I wanted to find out whether Wayne had drunk his own products but nobody seemed to know.

Look on the bright side. If low cost airlines all fail miserably they will be able to turn the bloody awful Etiuda terminal at Warsaw into a Garden Centre or a skating rink or something of that ilk.

UK, Ireland / Polish female bringing a chinese husband to the UK -advice needed :) [19]

Hi.

The link below is to the home office pages on your rights as an EEA citizen. It clearly states that your spouse in entitled to live and work in the UK. Look at the section that refers to a spouse who is not an EEA citizen as there is a type of visa required that your husband will be able to obtain from the British consulate in China.

News / Sarkozy on Wednesday arrived in Poland to strike a strategic partnership [57]

I will ensure world peace by marrying Mrs Sarko to the President of Iran and making Mrs Obama divorce Barak and marry Putin. Gordon Brown would be forced to sell candy floss on Blackpool seafront. Cheese will be free to anybody who votes for me. Finally Celebrity Come Dancing will be replaced by Celebrity Lap Dancng and anybody found to have been on Bg Brother will be shot at dawn.

That was my moderator. She told me to type that. She also told me that I spend too much time on here and that time could be better spent. For a brief moment I thought my hopes were raised:)

Note that she is no longer moderating me otherwise I would not have written the previous sentence.

Seanus that is very rude.

Talking of bizarre politician behaviour did anybody see the story about Putin flying in the Abba tribute band, Bjorn Again, for a gig for him, a mystery blond and seven aides who sat behind a muslin curtain for the entire performance. Bit different frm the bare chested tiger hunting gig!

Not to mention that Irish fella who was hardly here.

Daffy was doing three PhDs simultaneously. He had moments of sheer moderating brilliance, particularly when taming the mad Spanish cowperson.

UK, Ireland / Polish people in an english army [85]

I am sure that the british special forces branches exclude entry to foreigners, even those with british passports.

In a word - bollocks. Is there any subject at all that you are informed upon ?

UK, Ireland / Here comes the Anti-Immigration marches.... [114]

lets not forget that britain has had open doors to immigrants for decades.

Quite. Some other countries would do well to remember what Britain has done for genuine assylum seekers since WWII. To be honest I have had just about enough of some of the Brit Bashing from some on here lately. Let me see, Germany announces that it has delayed allowing Polish workers full free movement of labour until 2011 (the last possible moment when all EU countries have to comply) citing the recession for the further delay. Reaction on here? Bugger all. A few workers voice some genuine concerns? Reaction - we're all racist, ill educated trash. Do me a favour...

UK, Ireland / Here comes the Anti-Immigration marches.... [114]

It tells me that the British people have a government whose policy on admitting immigrants both from the A8 accession countries and from outside of the EU was never in a manifesto of any sort and therefore was never made clear to them. The backlash that everyone is talking here is not against the foreign workers themselves but against a government that allowed wholesale immigration without considering the impacts upon our already creaking social services or what would happen when the recession hit (and don't tell me that the recession is a surprise to any politician or banker).

When someone has lost a job through no fault of their own, has a famly and a mortgage and sees jobs going to migrant workers then of course they are going to be aggrieved. This is not a reaction from lazy people who do not want to work, that category of Brit gets no sympathy from me. These guys do.

BTW the decision on the awarding of the contract to the Italian firm was taken by Total following a competitive tender so Misty's explanantion is a little off beam.
