Life / Are shaved heads a bad idea in Poland? [36]

Just like Greg says..it's normal.

normal. :) its got a myriad of reasons as to why. some bad but most are just run of the mill ordinary. The main part would be how you behave really - if you dress like a skinhead and ACT like one, well, there you go...

Love / Symbol of polish of love to surprise my fiance [26]

I think this is an INTERNATIONAL female trait - once the ring is one - the pants switch hands :)

Be nice if they romanced us and once hitched we wear the pants :) no wonder more and more people choose to co-habit than marry these days :D BTW - are there any other polish symbols of love besides the nearly standard rose?

News / POLISH LITTLE GIRL SHOT DEAD BY AN ITALIAN [104]

We don't know who started and that didn't have anything to do with shooting at someone's house.

according to the link posted originally by puzzler (an italian source). it was an agruement between two other men and this guy. The guy then went home and got his gun and went to one of the guys home to kill him! the child was an innocent victim

you asked me

Which both men ?

simply, I refer to the people in the article. thats all.

News / POLISH LITTLE GIRL SHOT DEAD BY AN ITALIAN [104]

Which both men ?

The two men that started the fighting the pole and the italian.

[Italians] the majority of them aren't polonophobic, they aren't racists, and they aren't fascists.

Which is what the majority of the members here have tried to point out.

you do realize that there are Polish fascists

Yes exactly, as there are in most countires. Along with Irish Victims and murders, POLISH murderers and victims. It happens all over the world and is not a NATIONAL trait nor a NATIONAL hatred of one race over another due to these INDIVIDUALS of ANY nationality

You can't find a single Irish, English, French, Italian, German, Italian, Swedish, or any other European nation's newspaper which does not publish articles which are obviously meant to tear the fabric of pan-European brotherhood and to demonize European immigration while turning a blind-eye to non-white immigration, which is the main problem facing the ethnic people inhabiting Europe today.

Id go so far as to say its not what the media is reporting in this case - its how it is perceived by the reader - the bible is a typical example. the same words intrepeted thousands of different ways. so this alos happens in the newspapers. and if you hold a prejudice against italians and read this article you think they are all racists - whereas the average person reads its and thinks how tragic! that poor child.

I don't think that name calling actually proves any point.

derogatory, needless name calling i agree - however, highlighting that an article, group, individual is acting in a biases, hateful, prejudical manner towards another group, individual the term racist is apt.

What would you call it?

exactly - its all 'perception'

Its a simple matter of expression

and being called central or eastern european is such a shallow point of contention

already dealt with it

News / Lets learn more about Polish Political Parties [19]

Ok so here are the main ones today:

Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, PiS
Platforma Obywatelska, PO
Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe, PSL
Samoobrona RP, SRP
Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej, SLD
Partia Demokratyczna - demokraci.pl, PD
Liga Polskich Rodzin, LPR
Socjaldemokracja Polska, SDPL

What do they each stand for? what influences do they have in Poland and everyday reality there? (website addresses of each party would be welcome too and i can attache them to the above)

News / What can Poland do to maintain its Ethnic Integrity? [118]

One People, One Planet, Please. We're a long way from achieving that but if we're going to survive as a world we'd better be working for it.

yes we are a long way from acheiving that but it takes alot of effort and time to break down the prejudices of the last thousand years. Not to mention further education of a global society.

We are so small we tend to forget the size of the universe we live in. We are not even a grain of sand in the desert the universe is that big YET we have such intolerance for people who are not carbon copies of ourselves.

Poland's ethnic integrety is not at risk as the Irish one i snot at risk with now 10% of our population non native irish.

this happened back in the centuries, Ireland was invaded by the normans and vikings - yet they became more irish than the irish themselves! We have so many foreign nationals now that are learning the Irish language even! A language that is not popular with the general Irish public. Foreigners that move to Poland by and large do the same - learn the language become immersed to some degree into the culture and customs

News / POLISH LITTLE GIRL SHOT DEAD BY AN ITALIAN [104]

However daffy tries to twist and turn facts

You're confusing me with you - I dont twist peopls posts and original meanings

It's funny that daffy mentions the alleged wrongdoings of the Polish people in Ireland, including the alleged anti-German abuse. What was this stuff about the spitting at a German? Was it caused by Germanophobia? Got any evidence for that?

There is plenty of evidence if you actaully read the news! there are Polish, Lithuanian, Czech MURDERERS as well as ITALIANS FRENCH ENGLISH. get real will you, Following your logic your saying poles have never murdered any poles OR murdered anyone else? As to the spitting on a german tourist - older members will know about this too.

I've got an opinion from a Belgian newspaper that the Germans generally dislike the Poles.

Is the Belgian hack lying?

I've got an opinion that you dislike italians for example :eyesrolling:

I've got problems with your use of the expression 'East Europeans.'

Ireland is West of Poland. Poland is East of Ireland. Its a simple matter of expression and being called central or eastern european is such a shallow point of contention

Roses again seem to be the order of the day in Poland. I'd heard it was best to give an 'odd' number on such an occasian as 'even' was for berevement. oh well

I agree as far as you're talking about your own experiences but not all of the language schools around here treat, so called, "natives" right.

I dont work in a language school - i work in an recognised I.T. Multinational company in Finance and we have a wide range of nationalities

Life / What Do the Poles Think about the Abolition of the Death Penalty? [48]

'The life of david gale' is a great story RE why there should be no death penalty.
We got rid of it in Ireland not so long ago (it was never used BUT it was a protection of our UNARMED police, that to kill a member of the police force could incur the death penalty)

I thought it should have remained as a proctective barrier to our 'Gardai' (police) as it was not mandatory BUT served as a warning - esp today as gun crimes are on the rise again in Ireland.

Was it used in Poland over the last 17 years?

News / Suicide of Polish Ex-minister [12]

thanks miranda, its my fault here, I just read into the article and saw what i saw.

RE the article, the supposed investigation, if it reports would be great to see a follow up on it? It must have been very serious indeed for her to take such actions.

News / Suicide of Polish Ex-minister [12]

All I know tha this woman has been feeling desparate due to being investigated.

Desperate, fair enough - she snapped under stress. I would feel it is apart of who we are - and we cannot know who we are until these stressful situations are faced by each of us and how we react is indeed a very mental issue.

Granted I do talk above about the greater subject and the more common aspects - its just the article reminded me about a friend who committed suicide - not the same circumstance but same end result and i just felt i needed to say it.

News / Suicide of Polish Ex-minister [12]

I did - I just think that any reasonable person in that situation - even feeling they have no way out - could stand up to the consequences. I think that someone with a fragile mind chooses to commit suicide, ie has a mental illness. Not always diagnosed and not always apparant unless pressed into situations of extreme stress (like i think is the case here, no?)

History / Soviet war monuments in Poland - what to do about them? [133]

Everyone should go ahead and get rid of all monuments that boast of Soviet occupation. Let Russia have a hissy fit. They'll get over it......eventually.

First, I love this statues and I think they are fascinating. For me as a tourist, they really brighten up a holiday.

Id be more inclined to accept the local peopls wishes. To them it may be a sign of harder times, oppression etc and ultimatley their decision. not the EU's or Russia's.

Life / How to convince somebody to stay in Poland?? [20]

Ever heard about export and import?

I work as a tax & customs specialist so you its safe to assume.

I think your means of making money as outline above is backwash. Any young person can just go to any other EU country and get all the help they need for free from local authorities

What are you providing that is different?

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Why are you over here earning our money

Because the pay is better than at home

claming our benefits

If you life in any EU country and prove residence - your entitled.

dont understand why you joined the eu,

As it is in all our interests. Larger economies - greater resources - greater stability - etc.

it has to be a 2 way street

It is, and like IRELAND once the EU investment has brought Poland to the economic level it can be - It will become one of THE bigger contributers of the EU like GB, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

not come get our money and tell us to f... off.

Only a few on this forum have done so and they are a minority mate - all the ones ive met in work, friends and besides are friendly, charming and happy as us to be here :)

it is important yes. What supports exist in Poland for mental health patients?

It is only becoming better supported in Ireland the last few years and attitudes are changing slowly towards its true nature.

News / Suicide of Polish Ex-minister [12]

Mental health is very important and is often seen to be a failing in people rather than an illness and many people fear admitting it and seeking help. It is a tragic misunderstanding of the illness.

European figures state that at any one time there are 1 in 20 people suffering from a mental illness like depression, dehibiliting stress, shizophrnia, alzhimers, etc. and 1 in 3 people will suffer a mental illness over our lifetimes

talk about it

talk

News / What do Poles think about the newly elected French president? [30]

It looks though as if some people would like to keep religious people out of politics, leaving only atheists in charge, which in my view is an open discrimination, as every citizen has the right to be represented in the parliament.

That is not true and not is what is meant bby keeping chuch and state seperate. Most EU and US elected representatives are christians. very, very few are atheists for starters.

The seperation is to allow the state govern without the prejudices, biases, influence of the Church. Ie Divorce, Abortion, Death Penalties, Taxation and so on and on are either NOT the expertise of church officials OR are not representative of all the people. (hence the huge following for secular states.

I agree with this - id rather my church focus on the scriptures and spiritual matters and NOT matters of state like the roads and so on and on
