USA, Canada / Stories from Babcia's homeland Poland- Please join in the discussion [29]

I feel very happy when you are able to trace someone in you from Poland :).

well considering how many times Poland has tried to mind its own business and just prosper and be out there on its own. and all the times that poland has been brought to a halt over power.. she is still a nation.. one that cant be extinguished no matter how many times the land is conquered or its people driven away.

kind of like America.. One Nation Under god :)

Life / Are Polish People Hypochondriacs? [50]

To be honest I would say your links were paranoia inducing.

then why ask if we are hypocondriacs if she was concerned for your health..

you ask if the whole polish nation is this way all because someone had concern for your health..

so we show you what could happen, then its paranoia inducing. well so is
movies about vampires and fricken space ships.. but that doesnt have anything to do with the question.

I gave links of what could happen, I also had a painful ephisode with it and was lucky.. no one can see inside your stomach.. so how can one know whats really going on.

She didn`t know what was happening. She saw you in pain and preferred to take some action. If she hadn`t and you had died of blown-up appendicitis, she would be one to blame.

I agree here, he prob put on a good acting show so he could get some attention.
seeing that he lived thru the ordeal, why make a big deal and make a statement of a whole nation when you only know a few people.. everyones views and feelings towards doctors/medicine are different.

Life / Are Polish People Hypochondriacs? [50]

She asked why and I said I had food poisoning and stomach cramps.

if we are hypochondriacs , we are very smart ones.. your flatmate prob knows more then you on the subject.. some people tend to dismiss until they are in a situation that puts then in danger.. we at least are smart and dont let it get that far.

here in the U.S. the norm would be to get admitted and get Iv fluids and more then likely stay overnight for observation and test the stomach contents to make sure it isnt something that can progress into life threatening.

whatever hospital you went to sounds sounds like one to avoid.

I had food poisoning one time and didnt go, for three days I suffered. It could have turned on me for the worst. I wont ever ignore it again, the most painful time I ever had.

Well folks.. I am second generation full Polish (by blood) American..

I didnt get the luxery of meeting all of my grandparents. I feel bad that I missed that, but mom and dad were late baby makers apparently.. :)

my brothers and sister did though. well , my moms mother anyways.
my dads side grandma was already gone , but I heard alot about her, how she was a very happy lady, loved to be around all the friends and family.. liked her beer :)

Im not sure about vodka, because I was told they made wisky in the bathtub and sold it, like alot of our grandparents did back then.. hmmmmmmm

she also ran a confections store out of the basement coal shoot.. kids would come and buy it up..

I was told by my uncle, that during the war. some man came to the house, dont really know who he was, if he was in the polish army <~probably or what, but alot of govt officers were around him, so he was important, came to see my grandmother, Visit.. and was a relative.. which I still cant figure out who he was.

thats all from me..

I hope this thread takes off. :)

come on folks.. even if you live in poland, tell your stories.. poland gets enough negative, lets share some of the positive for a change.. :)

This actually proves a point, no matter if your polish, british, scottish, irish, etc

none would participate in such a boring discussion.. because its not about war, or about someone getting hurt, poloniphobia, racism.. yep, i am sure we had a post like this before and it went un-noticed.. guess grandma wasnt so important to anyone huh?

well Mine was...

Lets see if I change the topic to how about everyone tell a story about their grandparents homeland and stories.. lets see if anyone wants to share..

again, another attempt to bring to the table some positive.. and being obvious about it.

Life / HAND-KISSING WANING IN POPULARITY? [29]

It's my understanding that women control this practice in that the way she extends her hand indicates whether she expects a shake or a kiss.

well maybe if your brought up in this environment.

hand kissing is still around, but I dont think its made out to be such a big deal as described by polonius..

I think its a nice gesture. like I said, I think its mostly in europe.. and its more common there.. women dont pull away in disgust, femists or not, hand kissing has nothing to do with why women fight for a right to vote.. thats way off.. but anyways.. I think your prob right on how its supposed to be..

thanks for your insiteful input mafketis

Life / HAND-KISSING WANING IN POPULARITY? [29]

Polish men used to charm females the world over through their gallant custom of kissing their hands,

I thought this was european custom, not polish, but I would think it was just a gentleman gesture and no one would take offense unless offense was given along with the hand kissing gesture.

Love / do polish girls consider a english man a good catch ? [126]

the british guy isn't getting a good rating it seems, lol.

I never said that, I think theres a very good abundance of british men who are very good hearted.. and well deserving of a wonderful lady, its too bad that people make issues out of looks.. its unfortunate, because so many have enough to deal with in their own lives then here comes a arrogant know it all who says things to be the bigshot of the crowd and makes people look bad..

I think alot of men/women would prob see better if they opened their eyes just a little bit more. I dont get the rise of making someone look small..

anyway, my two cents worth.

I think theres a good majority of men from each nation who have some qualities I described and you know who you are.. enjoy life and enjoy those around you while you can.

News / Dealing with constant insults against Polish [323]

Bringing a sword to a tank fight is the reason for the poles being a consecutively conquered people.

yep and wearing skirts to a tank fight is the reason the fighting stopped because they thought it was little girls entering the war zone ;)

bah ha ha hahhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Love / do polish girls consider a english man a good catch ? [126]

I think a man who has good taste and doesnt make fun of people , is confident in his world and ready to make a new one with someone will be seen for his acommplishments and not for his mistakes and nationality isnt a issue if hes the man she is attracted to and vs versa.

I find it irritating to be around people who make it their number one priority to hurt others.. its a huge turn off, makes the man or woman look like they have security issues because they have to find fault in others. when the focused attention should be on the person you are dating and not what you can ruin for the night.

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

The stereotypical image of the little boy sneaking into Dad's closet to play with a loaded gun and then shooting himself

dude its not just little boys, its teens, drinking teens, depressed teens, little boys, little girls even, its any child..

The state cannot under any circumstances protect every man, woman, and child

if someone owns a gun, he goes out and gets drunk, decides to load up the gun and go find the guy who stole his wife.. hmmmmmm whos responsibility is it then to protect the guy who is now having at his wife?

nor is it the state which should allow a man to purchase a gun to rape/kill a woman who was out shopping and happen to become a victim?

or the child who was in the gunfire of gang war which was in his own neighborhood..

no, the state shouldnt have to try and protect anyone should it, not even if we pay them to be there..

I realize some things are unforseeable.. but again, I still say, it can be prevented by simple steps.. and I cant watch someone elses child away from my home .. as some of the parents whos child was the victim of the gun.

but I do believe they are making or already made a law in which holds the parent who owned the gun responsible..

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

and not being led to believe that their constitution somehow isn't working

thats not what I meant by it isnt working, I never said they had to take away the right to bear arms.. but create a place for them.. no one will stop hunting, or whatever, I do believe if someone is going to have them, there should be a good reason to..

someone who is in the law enforcement, but that doesnt work always either,
I am merely suggesting a new way to protect children from getting hurt, does this also get included in the constitution?? to save our children from irresponsible adults who like to be stubborn for whatever reasons and use the constitution to justify having a gun that just shot their child?

im off to work,, but I expect a good answer.. because I am all for children being alive.. constitution or not.. we all have a right to life.. put that in the constitution!!

Which changes?

well poland being in the EU and all the immigration to the UK for instance..

how many threads have we discussed and fought in over the I hate polish people.

I think Europe can be like us, its just going to take a long time.. we were built on the American dream.. to be United, People came here for this reason. Europe isnt a new land.. so its going to take some time for the word UNITY to sink in.. thats all.

sledz

Franek

guys dont be haters.. thats not the message we want to send.

instead of fighting against it, why not come up with a way to work with it?

how about those hunting guns ( if you want to keep them) go into a security box in another facility?

like someone create a place ( safe ) which holds these items with the registers away from homes ( unless you live in a horrible neighborhood) <~even then having a gun is just like giving the bad guy the option.. because what if someone breaks into the home and takes this gun? then what? shot with your own gun?

sorry guys, I just am against them because of my experience, and believe me traumatic things make you think twice.

Aha, when the day comes for the EU to become very powerful, mark my words, the 'average' American will change their tune.

cool down seanus, we going to a whole new level.. and subject

I dont think Europeans will be so powerful because they dont like the changes already ..

Canada is part of North America. we just visit each others countries.. :)

Americans are aware, they just choose to be stubborn.. which isnt the solution.
someone just needs to bring a new solution to the table because the old ones arent working.

thats why you keep the gun locked up. you also teach child gun is not a toy.
banning guns because of kids, such a b.s argument

yep but theres more adults that arent responsible with guns then children, thats how the children get ahold of them in the first place..

how many adults kill other adults VS children..

lets face facts.. the guns are used for more violence then for hunting.

As a rule polish Americans do not buy much kosher food.

I dont, but I dont ever recall seeing the letters either, I have seen the whole kosher stamp on the label..

USA, Canada / POLISH AMERICANS UNAWARE of KOSHER FOOD TAX? [19]

Not only is this a very well-kept secret, but those who dare to raise it in public are aften branded anti-Semites.

well Ive seen the kosher food items in the store, but I dont buy them,

if there are hidden food items that I have bought, and didnt know about it, let them call me what they want, but I will raise a ruckus if I have to pay more for something I normally buy and the label is hidden.. let them call me anti-semites

cause I will call them rip-off artists.. theres no reason to hide the labels in my opinion.. I never have noticed this, but what are some of the foods you have come across that happen to have this mark so to speak on them?

Love / What would you think if you were me? Having lived with a Polish woman for over a year. [30]

How could someone pick an internet relationship over a live in boyfriend.

you have a point, but I dont think its just a internet relationship. it sounds like she knows him better, like they are long time friends.. or old lovers..

in any case, I do think it takes two to make it work.. but it doesnt sound like she is in love with you anymore ( and I dont mean to sound harsh) its just that this happens sometimes and how and why it happened could help turn it around, or you can let her go, and start new with someone who will be compatible..

dont feel like your wasting time, love is hard to understand. sometimes we think its love, its not, but we mistake this, and then all the sudden things go sour and bitterness sets in, you dont want to set yourself up for a fall..

you just have to find the compatible person for you. someone who likes things you like, I dont think you like the things she likes and Vs Versa.. but maybe both arent trying hard enough and compromising for each other and learning to love each other no matter where you are is what love is about.. its not the things around you is who you spend them with.. and you learn to accept that maybe she doesnt like different styles, certain things, but thats ok, because you love her and that other stuff is all small shyt you get thru.. the large and small bridges you cross you whole life.. all the tests.. once you find the one, nothing else matters :)

so anyway, what I was getting at, maybe do some different things for her.. she sounds like she would appreciate more educational/intelligent conversation, or just more conversation period.. sometimes we forget to communicate with each other and dont say you have, because everyone is guilty of it,, even me :)

but sometimes you dont need words either..

find out more about her, and her interests.. the relationship is still fairly new,, its just lost its varooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmm...

do the romance thing, get out the candles, roses, candy, get your grove a grovin and run her a warm bath, massages, all those wonderful things that lead it back to the first time...

What you describe has nothing to do with "Polish". It has to do with [insert your favorite "slang" for a bad woman]

you are correct here,, and the word you look for is B***H.. but we all get this way when we feel neglected.. we dont ask for these things, and if we did wouldnt that look pretty silly if we had too all the time?

honey can you communicate with me more and take me out to a candle light dinner and buy me roses and candy and put on some sexy music and make me feel wanted?

she's talking to a man whom prob could be her best friend and thats how great relationships start.. so you need to talk to her.. whatever way you have to go about it, you need to do something, or let her go.

remember while your talking to tell her, that you know things are partly your fault as well as hers..

if shes not willing to listen.. I would just move on, and find someone more compatible, because you dont sound happy with her much either..

anyways.. my two sense? or cents?

:)

PS Edited for the sake of conversation
