News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

had a quick google to see what i could find on the matter - this quote explains quite well i think

"Then however it was hijacked by the ultra right wing, becoming associated with xenophobia, cultural myopia and lager louts who eat their curry then abuse the waiter. Town halls could no longer hoist the standard without being accused of supporting imperialism and racism."

homepage.ntlworld.com/watson-jones/alphabet/union-jack.html

makes me think that we're a little neurotic about it :)

you are ;)

News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

I've met quite a few British and I had the impression that you guys are very proud of your country and your national symbols

many of us are... 3 lions on the chest and all that... but the Union Flag has been associated with negatives such as racism and nationalism and become a symbol which some feel has negative conotations...

for many brits the Union Flag is seen as a symbol of shame... as a symbol of overzelous british political correctness, an association with negative rather than positive...

Furthermore having a President like Bush representing America and the fact that many Americans elected him is far more offensive to the nation than burning the flag.

well said Kruk

Love / Are polish girls generally curvy, tall with nice round butts [74]

in europe there are many people who base their nationality on where they are from - where they are born and where they were brought up - and not where parents are from

some europeans find it confusing/amusing that people born and raised in the US will swear alligence to their flag, cry foul when it gets burnt and in the next breathe claim to be 1OO% polish, or french, italian or wherever...

we find it hard that people can claim to be 1OO% from a nationality when they dont speak the language and would stand out like a very sore thumb if they ever visited the country...

UK, Ireland / Getting married to a Polish Citizen in the UK [371]

All Europeans might as well start to learn to love their neighbors because in a decade or so they will become darker and may speak a different language. Europe opened its borders and now the likes of sedzia need to learn to deal with it.

yup

i just say chi as in tai chi and people tend to understand if i also hold up 3 fingers at the same time... some times if i am feeling confident i add a t sound at the front... and hold up 3 fingers... it always seems to work... especially if i am ordering beer and have two friends next to me...

Life / Smoking ban - will this be coming to Poland like other EU countries? [183]

I can see that there is definately more young people smoking in UK than in Poland. I mean DEFINATELY.

interesting... are there statistics to support this...?

The problem with Poland is that they simply don't want to ban smoking.

major cigarette companies have invested phenominal amounts in the polish over recent years... there is a desire to protect this investment for as long as possible

UK, Ireland / Brit Youths Protest Anti-Gay Poland [114]

I think that a child just deserves to be loved if that happens to be by two people who the same sex then thats fine by me,

exactly

people should look at adopting children in their own country before they starting looking at cute chineese babies....

idealy this might be best for all... but adopting isnt always a straight forward process in many countries, rightly or wrongly...

how about white english parents adopting a black english child... how does this come into the equation...?

adoption is a difficult and controversial subject for many

News / Tinky Winky from tellytubbies outed in Poland [145]

the only source of knowledge u have is the internet...

nope - i just suggested it as the quickest way to find out you are wrong

people are mocking u and unfortunately u dont see it...

quite probably... have you realised im mocking you...?

if u try and go against nature u may have short term pleasure but long term disadvantage...

dont think you quite got the point

u actually cannot prove this - furthermore logically this is not a practice that could have survvied or else u and i would not be here...

i can prove, or rather you can google, that the greeks not only practiced homosexuality but encouraged it in certain situations - especially the army where fighting alongside your partner was seen as an advantage...

have a look at some of the paintings in pompeii too...

to someone killing animals is bad to someone it is sport..

absolutely... and as you metion, for some, having sex with small children is the norm... for others its the most henious crime... so do we lock these people in prison and chop of their ganglies as society expects now... or do we say that actually we might all be better off if we accepted them as different and treat them as such...?

then u actually start believing them as normal..

quite right... but lets not get caught up in a world of persecution and hatred for anything that doesnt fit into our idea of normal - being different doesnt make you evil...

it is pleasureable now only becasue u r reducing the chances of procreation by unnatural methods

not quite sure what your point is here - sex has always been pleasurable but hasnt always been for procreation... for both people and animals...

News / Tinky Winky from tellytubbies outed in Poland [145]

there are some people in the world who have 'different' beliefs and values and sometimes other peoples beleifs conflict with them

people have been having same gender relationships since time began... there is nothing new about it...

logically that is unnatural

its only unnatrual if you hold the belief that sex is only for procreation... which its obviously not...

the world today is being socialised in a way that is goin against human nature... we are having relationships with our fellow gender..

hold any belief you want... but at least be prepared to admit when you belief is wrong... common guys... fairs fair...

the beauty of human kind is that they have intellect and ability to practice their intellect.

indeed... but practicing one's intellect doesnt make you right... even someone with limited intelect can work that out...

these days many people are brought up with the media

believing what you are told to believe is not practicing your intellect... its not an excuse...
