Food / Polish glazed cherries [13]

I see Mr Rover is spying again ;)

I'm from Orange Free State (central part of country). Hubby from wine country in Western Cape, but we lived in Pretoria. Won't help you very much with your spying though ;) Lots of people where we come from, and even more where we lived :P

What do you call glazed cherries in Polish? Do you buy them in the baking section of Carrefoure or in some other strange place?

Study / Lanuage school in Tri-City - advice learning Polish in Poland [12]

I know there is also a Brittish school. Friends of ours, however, have decided to have mom and kids rather in Warsaw - where both British and American schools are good as far as I know - while dad travels to and fro from Gdańsk. Don't hink that's ideal though. If it were me, I'd try to find school there first.

Feedback / It won't let me post a follow-up message after my own message [11]

Sorry, you cannot post a new message in this thread since you are still the last poster in this thread and could still edit your message. You may use the Edit function below if you want to edit your last post in this thread.

WTF?

I agree! Also, sometimes I post different posts in asnwer to different posts. Yesterday, I had to answer different posts in the same post, so we ended up eating cat and cheese in the same post.

Way to go admin!! :)

anybody else had problems with new edit function where you cannot add new post after your last one?

apparently 40% of people who took a survey at the designer's fair voted for it as most kitch building.

Life / New skyscraper in Warsaw... [58]

As long as the old and the new can stand side by side without disrupting eachother, it's all good.

True, but do you think the above monstrosity is going to fit nicely without disrupting the rest? It will dwarf everything else around, not only the Pałac!

Language / List of Polish consonants [8]

Panie Darku, or anybody who can help? Is this list of soft consonants correct and complete?

c, ch, cz, ć, dz, dż, dzi, g, h, j, k, l, ń, rz, sz, ś, ż, ź?

Admin, I am creating this thread for all my language questions. It is absolutely useless to have a new thread for every Q. One thread, and I have them all together. Is it possible to merge my other language threads into this one?

it'll take the prize from Złotte Tarasy for the most kitch building in post communist poland ;) (award and survey given and done in £ódsz) don't remember when exactly - Oct-Nov at some designer's fair.

Are they going to remove that communist relic (palace kultury) or not? That thing in the background looks just...awful.

Slick, I agree with you that the pałac is not the prettiest building in all the world, but this thing is worse!
