UK, Ireland / Research for article -mixed Polish-British couples and Christmas [19]

I don't dwell on the past and I don't blame anybody. What happened happened, you learn from it and it only makes you smarter.

And yes, I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with my Polish Fiance, whom I've known since we were tenagers. Little did I know, that we were meant for each other since the very beginning.

My life: Either hell or heaven, devil or Angel.

I was STUPID!!!! STUPID!!!! STUPID!!!!
I only knew him 4 months and my mother decided I will be happy with him, so she made my wedding dress, arranged a talk with the priest, arranged a wedding date, invited all the guests, arranged a reception hall, brides-maids, wedding cake, etc. The whole works.

I wasn't ready for this, but my mother was.

I'm Polish, he WAS American. Didn't work out for me. Different upbringing. Different views on raising children, diffrent interests, different catholic beliefs.
This does not mean such relations don't work, because they can and do. In my instance, I was involved with an uneducated, narrow-minded, over-opinionated, never-travelled, drinking, smoking selfish moron.

If two people love each other and have common interests, then it doesn't matter from which country they come from.

Travel / What to eat in Poland when you are a pain [8]

Yes, "sałatka" is salad and "sorówka" comes from the word "raw", which can be raw red cabbage salad, tomato salad, vegetable salad. It's the same thing.

You can get almost everything in Poland.
The Salads are excellent, called "Surówka".
In Zakopane you can get "Oscypek". Cheese made from goat or sheep milk.
Soups- "Zupa" are delicious, my favorite is "Zupa Grzybowa". Mushroom soup.
You can try "Barszcz" - beet soup. Excellent.

Work / Xmas gifts for Polish workers? [22]

I agree with Miranda. You don't find caring bosses like that anymore. You are the one who deserves something special.
In the US, some celebrate St. Nick by putting toys and candy in big socks. They usually hang them on a fire-place, if you have one.

Work / Xmas gifts for Polish workers? [22]

This is only my opinion. I hope others will tell theirs.
I don't know what you've been feeding them, but Polish people make good kielbasa (sausage) and bread, so they might like to have a plate made with sliced-up kielbasa, cold meats, some cheese and slices of good bread.

They also like pizza. With ketchup.
Maybe have a suggestion box put out and they can write what they like, we can translate it here for you.
And as for gifts, I'm sure they are very appreciated. Specially if they have kids.

Well at least someone wants to get to Poland...With everybody leaving to UK, Poland would stand empty.

Life / Polish Car & Driver magazine? [12]

Here's one Polish magazine Auto Moto.
They say this is the best men's auto-magazine in Poland, but some companies don't send internationally, you'd have to ask them.

Language / need help to spell a name of a famous Polish singer.... [120]

Hey, I believe you.

Some people might not believe me, but I was confirmed in a small wieś by Kraków by Ksiądz Karol Wojtyła, who later became the pope.

I haven't seen Krzysztof Krawczyk recently, but always liked his songs a lot. That is really cool.
