Germany makes great business but in result we are going to be dependent on Russia.

You ARE already dependent on Russia...nothing it's going to change....you get the same gas from Russia as before!

Well...I really doubt you know what Germany thinks...and you better start to become more friendly with Russia right now because nothing it's going to change because of the new pipeline!

But still your thoughts show an unhealthy sign of paranoia....you hate the pipeline fearing a threatening Russia but once it's build you will hug Russia and going into an alliance with them..

Poland dependent on Russian supplies and avoided by new gas pipie lines will be in Russian team.

Well...I have news for you Luki, Poland IS already dependent on Russian supplies!
It is already for many years now...didn't hinder Poles to spit at Russians at every turn...

Actually would you be more accomodating to Russia AND Germany NOW, the nordstream pipeline might never have been become a topic!

This pipe line is 4 times more expenisve than normal pipe line. This pipe line is dangerous for enviroment. This is politicial pipe line.

But once it's build screw that and you go Russia-hugging...he :):):)

You give them tool and you know that.. That is why you are going to pay for that.

In my opinion we can clearly say stah Germans calculete this pipe line as good toll to control political situation in europe but all countries on east from Germany are going to play in Russian team. Some countries strongly oppose this project but ... Germans don't ... and Germans will pay for their decisions.

Your germanophobia knows no bounds, doesn't it Luki? :)

How can you blame the Germans as it would be your future chums, the Russians, blocking the delivery of gas and oil, using it for blackmail, not Germany...

Nord Sream means that Russians have Poland in their hands

If Europe is going to build Nord Stream ... Russia is going to be second choice. Russia is anti western ... so Poland will be in such aliance.

Erm....is it only me or is that a kind of crazy outlook???

Yes and Poland was attacked in 1939 and got down immediately.

Now my WHAT IF has been what would possible happened IF Poland WOULDNT HAD BEEN ATTACKED BUT THE BRITISH ISLANDS!!!!

GB had something Hitler wanted too...an Empire sprawling the world!
He admired strength...he could have lived very well with a GB "ruling the waves" and the third Reich ruling the continent (for the time beeing at least).

Most likely they would have kept their heads down and prayed they werent going to be next.

That isn't the point Lukasz...it isn't about who presents the best What-If scenario!

My point was to put the Poles in the british boots of that time!

Hitler had no beef with GB and even harbored sympathy...if it were for him there wouldn't had been any conflict with GB.

Now I turn the situation around and I would want to know what Poles think Poland would have done if they had been in that situation.

Yes, they had an alliance with GB, now GB is attacked and going under quickly,
Poland has to decide between peace and safety of their people and being destroyed if they attack the third Reich honoring their alliance!

In my What-if Hitler is just not interested in the whole EAST, that means the Sovietunion too. The Molotov-Ribbentrop pact ist alive and well.

It's Hitler against the West, wanting and needing the East quiet and maybe even supportive.

How would Poles decide?
Would they risk war and destruction for GB?

Imagine Hitler had no interest in Poland, didn't want war with Poles nor Lebensraum.
His dream is to take over the french and english Empires.
Just the day before he directed the Blitz on the british Islands, the Luftwaffe pounding on, destroying much of the totally surprised RAF, U-boats now closing in and threatening to blockade the Islands, starving them into submission.

What do you think would the Poles have done?
Fully knowing keeping out of it would mean further peace the the third Reich as Hitler is absolutely NOT interested in the East and even harbors some sympathies for these people.

(But fully knowing too that taking actively the side of GB would mean total
destruction.)

His hate and bloodlust is solely directed as Germany's long time arch enemies in the West. Bloody revenge for Versailles!

How do you think Poland and the Poles would react. (Yes, they have an alliance with GB)

Your former post seemed to imply the less regulations the more efficient the economy = ergo no regulation at all the most efficient economy, and that is just not correct!

Doesn't Germany have a say in vetoing accession/ratification?

Poland can't finance a new enlargement, it will be the net contributors like
Germany again and we already still chew on the current enlargement...

We have to recognize that an economy freed of unneeded regulations is more effective.

Disagree!

The so called welfare state of Germany was mocked about for decades and bureaucracy and regulations are traditional high, didn't hinder us to be an economic power house since the sixties and export world champion 4 times in a row (even with the additional task of the GDR burdened).

Now look at the prime examples of "free" market (here meaning as having as few regulations as possible) the US and the post-Thatcherite Great Britain - now broke with once key industries already gone or about to be destroyed!

It isn't the having or not-having of regulations which makes or kills an economy!
Actually some more regulations in the US and GB and we wouldn't have the current crisis!

Not all regions of West-Germany are the same...so are those of the former East.
Many eastern regions have catched up with their western counterparts, as some of those got neglected. Regions like Saxony are already rivaling rich western regions, whereas Brandenburg or Mecklenburg Vorpommern are still very mixed...so are poorer western Länder.
