Love / Why english men like polish women ? [126]

Apparently the DNA of the english today is about 95% celtic. The Scots are more like 97%

The Anglo Saxons mixed with the Celts and there were not very many of them. And the English are not very different from the Welsh and Scottish at all.

Love / Why do you suppose the Polish guy I'm dating refuses to speak Polish? [22]

The Turkish and Finnish languages are related in some way.

Anyway, the most likely reason is that he isn't Polish. A Turk would say he's Finnish and a Russian would say he's Polish for the same reason - both are in the EU and he can work here legally.

News / EU or America - which country is better to work now? [56]

I guess it depends on what your looking for in life. I'ts really easy to start up a business here in the US....especially an IT solutions consulting business. Is there really all of this opportunity in the UK? It IS a rather small Island and I don't see many Poles going to other countries in the EU.

I've had a UK and US business and running a small business in the US is much more expensive and difficult than in the UK.

UK has some of the best IT people in the world, in the City.
Wages are good £5-600 per day, thats up to $300K

What policies must America change to become an attractive destination for Polish workers, as well as other Europeans in nations with emerging economies?

Move a few thousand miles closer. You can flight to London one way for less the price of the train ticket from the airport to central London (about £15).

Life / Jaywalking in Poland ? [38]

I thought Jaywalking is illegal everywhere. In NY it is, but not really enforced.

Its not illegal in many countries. Jaywalking is an American word, there is no British equivalent.

Life / Jaywalking in Poland ? [38]

I had a group of girls over from Poland and they were shocked when people crossed roads whenever they felt like it. They also had difficulty remembering which way to look when crossing roads, which lead to some scary moments.

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

I don't know the exact details, but I think the Poles were on the same side as the French during the Napoleonic wars!!

True. Most of Napoleons troops were Polish in the invasion of Russia, I believe.

There was an entire army fighting for the French in WW1, The Blue Army.

hallersarmy.com

There is a lot of connection between France and Poland. The French had 400 officers as advisors to Poland in the 1919-20 war against the Bolsheviks and quite a lot of arms were supplied by the French.

The reason for France's interest in Poland is their common neighbour...

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

Except, as much as I love it, France is a very racist country. My French friends in the UK(and there are 400k French in the UK) insist that racism is very bad there. The 'Polish Plumber' is a vision of horror to the French.

The other thing that makes work difficult in France is the very regimented education to work system. You can only work in in the job you have been trained for, you can't expand you career into other areas. Its stiffiling.

French women dress nice, but in the south of France crime is a real problem that the Police cannot control they are scared of confronting the criminals in case they are accused of racism and start a riot.

UK, Ireland / Polish economy threatens UK [17]

Quoting: asiia
and when they come back to poland they spend the money in poland a not in the countries they have earned the money.

Do you have any stats showing how many people back to Poland? I'm not sure if there is so many of them...

In monetary terms I think its £4billion per year.

Again we have farmers Bu*****ing about something. The crops were picked before the Poles came here and its a problem because the farmers don't want to pay good wages. **** job for **** money. No thanks.

News / Poland- Visa Waiver Program [55]

The US may well scrap the Visa Waver Program completely because of the security risk.

Good for everyone else became the less tourists spend in the US the more they will spend elsewhere.

UK, Ireland / 700 are arriving every day from Eastern Europe into Britain [50]

Merged: More migrants come to Britain from Eastern Europe

A growing number of migrants coming to Britain from Eastern Europe may be intending to stay, a survey suggests.
More than one-third of women and a quarter of men said they wanted to stay, many of whom had changed their minds since arriving in the UK.

Love / Polish attitude towards sex [194]

Escorts in Russia are among the elite, they make more on average than any other women. They view their job very positively. All the protest comes from the western feminists, not from these girls.

There was a survey among teenage Russian girls a few years back. 90% aspired to be an Escort.

Love / Polish attitude towards sex [194]

Sorry,I do not know the audience very well, there are english and polish, males and females and gradually I get used to it.What could be a joke for a Pole would be insulting for a Brit.
However you english women from what I read in the forum appear to me rather masculine.(maybe there is a reason why english gays are in the highest percentage in the world). But on the other hand maybe this is good.
Yesterday we had a scientific discussion about testosterone, when it was proved I was right and the moderator wiped out all the discussion.
So now we get into another discussion. You claim there are drugs that can stop erection. Can you name one(only one) of these drugs, approved officially(by the FDA)?
One thing is misinformation and another the right to express an opinion.

In fact English women are not masculine and that wouldn't make men gay. What an idiotic statement. As for homosexuality, in the its half the rate of the US, France and Italy. Using your logic, I suppose in the case of the USA it must be because America women are so fat, men find them repulsive

UK, Ireland / Nice British people. (see. the article ) [41]

Drunken violence is a past time for some men. I've been attacked by yobs who just wanted a fight, nothing unusual and its why we have surveillance camera's and ASBO's.

Welcome to Britain.

This is a nice thread. I get to be ashamed of being British and Polish in one go.

History / Polish movies about Poland's role during WWII [20]

The World at War

amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=dvd-uk&fie ld-keywords=the%20world%20at%20war&results-process=default&dispatch=se arch/ref=pd_sl_aw_tops-2_dvd-uk_6618715_2&results-process=default

Not Polish specific, but a very good documentary about the war. Quite a few facts have changed though - it was done in the 1970's.

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

then take back all your 1 million beggars that think they have a right to destroy our economy, we saved you from Nazi's we will take your land!

Ok, so well me how Britain saved Poland form the Nazi? The 400k Polish fighting in the British army were rewarded with exile in Britain after being promised Polands freedom. Russia 'liberated' Poland but the communists were worse than the Nazi's. Britain did nothing to liberate Poland, The Americans gave Poland to Stalin.

Beggars? I haven't seen any Polish beggars - has one stolen you favourite pitch?
The Poles are doing our economy good.

Life / Gas, petrol prices in Poland [42]

Norway produces around 3.2 million barrels per day, UK ( 98% from Scotland ) produces around 2 million bbl/day.

And UK consumes about 2million barrels per day, so its basically self sufficient in oil.
