Real Estate / Monthly Management Fee - Who pays it? Landlord or Tenant? [4]

In relation to the monthly management fee payable on apartments, what is the norm in relation to who pays for it i.e. Landlord or Tenant? Or should it be shared as the price my be dependent on usage of certain things e.g. water, heating etc. I am asking from both point of views i.e. as a tenant and a landlord.

Real Estate / Interest Rates for Home loans In poland [39]

Hi. Started a thread on this in another room and it got deleted so maybe it will survive here.
No need to mention banks or anything, but does anyone have experience of mortgage interest rates from various financial institutions for various currencies? I was given a rate on a EUR mortgage of over 8% the other day from someone. I thought that was very high.

Merged: Mortgage Interest Rates in Poland - Best Options

Hi. i have just come back from a mortgage broker and was surprised to see some of the mortgage interest rates given. And it was not a good surprise. Loan in Eur was coming in at over 8 % and loan in CHf coming in at over 6 %.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal for poland. I am especially surprised at the EUR as you can get EUR interest rates of about 5.85 % in ireland so i am not sure where the extra 2 per cent is coming in. Any recommendations on good interest rates welcome...

Life / Ex-pat experiences Polish medical system. [4]

Got my tonsils out last week...admittedly i did go private...but would have no complaints about the experience at all..well, apart from the grumpy dinner lady!!!

One major benefit of the polish health system is that if you want to see a specialist, you can just go straight to the specialist. Unlike ireland, where you have to be referred.

Life / What happens with incorrectly addressed correspondence in Poland? [3]

Hi. I live in a small block of apartments and the number of block and apartment is 28 - 5. i was getting correspondence sent to me but i accidentally gave the number 29 - 5. Now there is no building/apartment with that number as the apartment blocks go up in 2's i.e. 28, 30, 32, 34 etc. Does anyone know what happens in that case. There was no return address on the envelope.

Work / Course on Polish Taxation [3]

By any chance, has anyone ever heard of a tax course available to ex-pats giving an introduction to taxation in poland? I would really like to get an idea as to how thinigs work for self-employed, employed and those with rental income. I have managed to be all three...

I have asked my accountant to clarify things but it is very hard to get a straight answer.

Have to get vaccinated against hepatitis b before op. Think i had it done a few years ago. They can tell by blood sample. Went to one of the private clinics in poznan today to arrange an appointment for a bloodtest...i was greeted with..'Do you want to do it now?'...10 minutes later i had test done and will have results on Wednesday. Cost was 75 zlt....about 23 euro.

Thanks Darius..yeah , i am kinda aware of the post treatment recovery(though trying hard to ignoer it). And you are correct that i am not a kid. Unfortunately, the tonsils are apparently affecting a skin condition i have and making it worse hence the need to have the out.

Life / Experiences of Polish Hospitals [29]

Hi. I might regret asking this question but what are people experiences of Polish Hospitals? I have to go in for a 2 day procedure. I have already spent 2 days in a polish hospital this year for tests so i have an idea. However, this next stay will involve a bit of an operation i.e. getting my tonsils out and i was just looking for peoples expericences of surgical procedures. I know i wont be getting 5 star treatement in relation to food etc.

I do have the option to have it done privately in ireland but that will involve having to get a number of referrals, going back and forth and will probably have to wait a few months.

The professor in poznan that i am seeing can bring me in June/July and i would like to get it out of the way.

As i said, i have spent 2 days in a poznan hospital already so have an idea about things. And I come from ireland, where you risk the potential of getting any number of bugs if you venture into the public health system.

Any constructive advice welcome.

Travel / Warsaw Metro & Public Transport & WiFI in Warsaw [10]

Hi. i have travlled the metro twice and it is fine. Basic but gets you from a to b quickly. I think they are extending it bit by bit but there is currently only the one underground line.

in relation to other forms of transport, warsaw has a very good bus and tram system in place. A number of different trams lines and many buses. Warsaw people might complain about it but i am originally from dublin and oh to have a transport system like warsaw in dublin.

Life / Public Hospitals in Poland - How much to stay in one? [6]

Thanks for that. i will have a look.
G, When i say that i could get it cheaper, i mean that i could get it cheaper than what i was charged. i know well that private hospitals are normally more expensive than public ones.

I was in for some simple tests all of which took less than 90 minutes in total.
My stay worked out at about 900 pln per day(assuming i was charged for 2 days) or 600 pln if they charge me for 3 days.
i got a quote from a private hospital in Warsaw who would charge me 300 pln per day just for the room. At least i would have a bit of comfort.
