Smartness depends on the person. I know people who have a degree and are really dumb about life and have no personality . I know others who didn't get a degree but know a lot about life and are kind to others. These people learned from life, they might not know all the math quotaions, but know how to survive.

It all depends on the individual on how open he is towards new experiences and learnings in life.

Raz and jeden. Ahhh, the confusion.
In math you use jeden. But when you count you sometimes say jeden, sometimes raz depending on what you're counting. If couting items you would say jeden as in one banana, one finger. But if you're just counting you can say raz or jeden, whichever sounds better.

Yeah, you can get it on the net. I miss TV Polonia too. I used to watch it on the dish a lot and was sad when they dropped it. It was the best Polish channel out there.

I watch TVPolonia every day. It's $6.99 a month. What I like about that is that you can watch the movies whenever you have time because they stay on there for a while.

University in the US is a 4-year program. I went for 6 years because I had several minors. Veterinary and medicine schools last 6 years, because the first two years are pre-vet or pre-medicine.

So I wouldn't say they are dumber in the US, but they don't cram it in all at once but instead attend college longer. And more people attend College in the US than Poland because it's easier to get into.

Language / Suggestions for Children learning Polish [25]

That's very good you have such programs!!
My "X" husband doesn't want my children to speak Polish, he tells them not to say milk in Polish because it's a dirty word, he doesn't want them to learn Polish and to know their Polish family, he won't sign passports for them to travel to Poland so now I have to fight the courts to get his permission for them to travel. He is a narrow-minded jerk and hurting the children the most.

Dish also makes U purchase another satallite if you have American's top channels only.

They got super-dishes right now so you need only one. They are a little bit bigger.
I know some Poles, who share a super dish with neighbors. They only have the Polish programs so it is possible to do.

First of all, my condolences on your husband's death. That's very sad.
It will be hard to keep up with Polish. I have two small children and I only speak Polish to them. They understand everything, but don't always speak it because when they go to kindergarten everyone speaks english and it comes easier.

I read Polish books to them, I have Polish cartoons, I teach them Polish poems and try all I can, but unless they go to Poland and be surrounded by Polish speaking people and be forced to speak Polish, it will be hard.

Or unless there are Polish classes offered in school.

Hi Beatka. Poland if different than the US, but you don't have to be scared! Poland is very beautiful, you get to ride on tramways, buses, lots of interesting architecture, castles and churches. The weather is really nice right now in Poland, birds singing.

You will probably miss some things in the US, but enjoy your stay while there. They will treat you like a princess.
And the food is excellent. Palce lizać!

You can buy duty-free wodka on the plane and then the'll let you through customs.
But you might as well go to Wally's and get one there!
Getting back on topic. Jaworzyńska street is a short dead-end street which is in an area close to all the embassies. It's a very nice area.

Cell phone companies in Poland can't send to the US because different wave frequencies. He does try, but they come decoded and the message ends up somewhere in India on somebody else's cell phone.

You can also get software and send through the internet to your phone.

Love / Men attitude towards women in the Polish culture [82]

My bf is in Poland. He rings me once just to let me know he thinks about me.
And I tell you, Polish guys keep you on your feet. They will say something to grab your attention then you have to figure the rest out.

But that's OK. I do the same to him...:)
