Life / Poles are very polite nation! [47]

Lithuainas think the are more western that Poland
Pols think the are more western that Washington DC

Although there might be some truth to what you say.
I am also referring to the other nations that post on here.
It just seems that quite a lot of people seem to boost themselves up by putting down others.
The truth on the other hand is that no country is perfect and we should be critical.
I worry when there are no corruption scandals in the papers, it means they are getting away with it.
As for politeness, I would worry more about the way people from different nations on here treat each other.

When did you start being politically correct?

Just keeping it on topic. (for a change)

You know, with comments to young attractive intelligent women like that, you will not get into your heaven.
But of course it is not too late :)

All you are assholes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excuse me, I happen to be an elbow not an arse hole.

Tut, Some people can't tell their arse from their elbow.

I don`t expect any gratitude.

My reward will be in Heaven.

Sounds to me like you expect gratitude...

I hope yours will be too.

No thank you, I am fine with out your heaven.

Poland is not an exceptionally rude or polite country.
There are cultural differences in what is perceived to be polite and rude here and there.

Why are all these threads usually about how great the posters country is in comparison to "your" country?

Life / Warsaw Vs Krakow which is best for raising family and working in? [21]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_cities_for_expatriate_emp loyees

I found it on Mercer.
35 Warsaw march 2008

I can't find it on Fordes

Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name.

I still think it is not accurate, I can't imagine Warsaw being that much more expensive in comparison to other countries.

What does it mean to be the most expensive city for expatriates?
Does this mean expats get ripped off?

I don't mean to badger the point, I am just curious now.

I figured that I'd stay seated.

Tut tut tut, and there i was thinking you were a nice guy.
Well that's that.

I am of course only messing, if people don't want to give up their seat they do not have to.
I had a similar experience in Krakow entering a bank, a babcia (auld one) walked up to the door and seen I was going into the bank, we were both outside.

She stopped in front of the door, expecting me to reach around her and push it open for her, which I did.
I thought she was an old cow, I had to do things and could not stand around arguing with someone who is that far gone.

Like everything in life it is only nice if people appreciate it.

Life / Warsaw Vs Krakow which is best for raising family and working in? [21]

citymayors.com/economics/expensive_cities2.html - most expensive cities to live in (2008)

Toronto 24th
Warsaw 44th

I should say this was just the first site I pulled out of the net,
I do not know if it is true but at a guess I would say Warsaw is a lot cheaper than Toronto.

Actually Moscow being 37th does not look right on that list.
I hear that Moscow is quite expensive?.

Ah sure there must be a million ways to make such a list

Hi I'm from Canada,

Hello Gen,
The reason I asled is because it is important to answer you comment about Warsaw being one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Although this statement is true to a certain extent, you will probably find it cheaper than Ottawa.
But this is an assumption on my part, I have never lived in Warsaw or Ottawa.
I live near Krakow.
Krakow is nicer.

I'm wondering if there are companies in Krakow that you just work in English.

That is a very vague question, I would suggest getting something that suits your skills and/or education.

And Warsaw is on # 35 as the most expensive city in the world way more expensive than Toronto which is at # 54 WOW.

really? who said that?

Life / Rudeness of polish people when they are drunk [43]

go to URL

[quote=] Rudeness is an art form in Poland. Polish people take great, but secret, delight in the devastating insult or social slight.

This is a very unimaginative text.

News / POLES the BLACKS of EUROPE? [104]

majority of irish came back

Naw they didn't
There is 70 million Irish out side of Ireland, if they went back Ireland would sink and I would cry.

Irish were balcks of Europe in 80's

I agree.

Poles are "balcks" of europe after joing EU

What makes you say that?.

Black=fool?
Black=stupid?
Black=worthless?
Black=bad?

Perhaps the last one.
It was a term used in the 80's about Irish people and how they were treated badly.

POLES the BLACKS of EUROPE?

if anyone believes there is a connection between blacks and how they are in the usa in financial terms and how Pols live in Europe ?and culture wise ?

No,
Poles like hip-hop but so what, I like bananas does that make me a monkey.

I think I know what this question is and I will put it this way.
Before when the Iron curtain was up, west and east Europe did not know each other (I would say).
There was a lot of propaganda about how poor the east were, (Ireland was poorer than Poland from what i gather).
Now that it is all different and Polish people are travelling, people get to see for themselves what Polish people are really like.
Of course there are going to be some idiot Poles but they are generally seen as good honest hard working people.

If you are asking who are treated like second class citizens in Europe, I would have to say the Roma Gypsies.

i surpose you could leave and come back if you didn't like it because you always have you family there so thats true

I think that is why a mojority of Poles are going to west Europe rather than the north America, it is just a short plane journey home :)

News / POLES the BLACKS of EUROPE? [104]

Maybe to some people thats exciting but to me its scary

Again I think a majority of people feel the same as you.
I think there is only a small minority of people in a population that would leave their country, family and friends and start everything again fo excitement.

I left for a few reasons, also excitement.

there must be a choice??

sometimes if you way up the pros and the cons, it is better to leave, you can always come back (in theory)

England or USA for their education ??

As far as I know no, the majority do not go abroad for education.
I think Polish education is adequate and most leave for the money.
Although Polish people love to travel for pleasure too.

classic ageing population, unlike some Asian countries.

What do you mean?

News / POLES the BLACKS of EUROPE? [104]

is it true that poland are increasing people wages to get some polish people back to poland ??

Well I do not think it works exactly like that.
Wages have gone up the last few years because of the shortage of labour and to keep employees, who might have otherwise left to another country in the search for a higher paying job.

USA, Canada / Black Friday (in American stores) [28]

they are cheap to buy in. But as for lowering unemployment

Aren't they cheap because they get raw materials abroad and produce the items in. well lets say less than comfortable sweat shops in other countries?

On one hand you have people buying cheap, on the other a loss of jobs for Americans.
I do not have the answer but I think it is a point.

Life / Clothing for kids in Poland, popular stores - some questions [18]

polishcanuck

Great summer wear there but what do Poles wear in Winter?
Just kidding of course.

It can get cold here alright, about 3 years ago it went as low as 32 degrees.
That was cold, I was in Lithuania at the time and it was the same temperature but I hear it was the same here.
Last February was warm, I was doing ground works, laying pipes and the like

In Krakow I was always really impressed how the women dressed, they look very well with out being O.T.T or sluty. Very good dress sence.

But they follow a different fashion than Ireland or Lithuania.

It is soon time to get a new pair of Jjjjjjjjooooooohhhhhhhnnnnnsssss (long Johns)

Real Estate / Construction (Poland Vrs where you are from) [66]

had to do with the mostly solid brick/concrete in which they had to be installed.

Well it is because they are not screwed together but have an overly complicated "harpoon" on the inside of the socket that opens up inside the hole in the wall.

With constant pulling out of a plug, I don't know how they thought these things could last.

Someone take a photo of the cold tap/ hot tap or the carpet in the bathroom and post it here.

This photo shows the back of the socket/light switch.
The pencil is pointing at one of the "harpoon's" teeth.
I think the elastic-band is to stop the teeth from going all over the place?
