I used to live in Guildford well was born there. Not been there for years though.
I'm learning Polish because i want to not because i have to. We have Polish children at school now and i thought it would be nice to have a go seeing as they are having to learn English.

Life / Polish Kids - Polish speaking? Bilingual? only English? [56]
Justyna i work in a secondary school and we have two Polish children here and i think more in the primary. I'm trying to learn Polish so that i can speak to them but i'm finding hard as there are no lessons for English learning Polish plenty for the other way around. I thought it would be nice for them to have someone to speak to if the had any problems but i think by the time i'v learnt to speak Polish they will be fluent in English.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]
where i live there is a tension building about the amount of polish people that are living in the area. this is the fault of the employers as they can pay the polish workers less money then english workers so are employing more and more to save themselves money.
i'm english parisdoll and i have no problem at all with polish people, live and let live is my moto.
and the fact that i just got my garden done for a fraction of the cost by my polish friend because he needs the money was a bonus. why pay over a grand for something that would have taken weeks, when i knew some one truely needed the money and wen i offered him more he refused as we had agreed a price.
i would say the hate thing comes from the fact that we english (well some) want everything for ourselves.

all i can say is that petrol/gas is way too expensive always goes up over the holidays then comes back down by a few pence. it's the oil companies and the goverment bein greedy as usual.
