Food / Is there any other Polish seafood exept herring and carp? [30]

Is Sea Angling popular in Poland ? I havent seen anyone on the beach with a Rod.

Fresh seafood is hard to find, and I live in Gdansk.

You could have a go yourself ?

Looking at the coastline I think you would need a boat to get a decent Cod but Pollack would probably be caught off the docks.

Further north in Gdansk Bay you would get some decent flatfish and flounders.

Worth noting that Baltic Fish may contain toxic chemicals, eg 50 times more PDBE Than Atlantic Fish and a few years ago the Swedes were warning women of childbearing age not to eat too much Baltic Fish.

Salmon ?
An international salmon angling contest is regularly held on the Słupia river between Słupsk and Ustka.

Edit - I went fishing today and caught Cod, Pollack and Wrasse ( Scotland ).

UK, Ireland / Who can keep right to speak its own language in UK [22]

its not like anybody is stopping the Celtic nations speaking their own languages

Google "Sleat school 2006".

the majority of people in their countries choose not to or do not know the language.

Google "Gaelic, Ness, Isle of Lewis"

Nobody has said 'you cannot speak Welsh or Gaelic'

Gaelic was proscribed.

the only people who can be blamed for the loss of these languages, or them been pushed into the background of culture are those who speak it.

Re read this again and have a word with yourself.

Everybody has the right to speak their language in the UK

Not in schools or legal systems etc etc.

There is a political agenda against Gaelic dating back centuries.

And if we take NHS 24 as an example, we can see that Gaelic ( or other indiginous languages ) are omitted.

I suppose there is an argument that those that speak Gaelic etc should also speak English - the same argument could be applied to, for example, Punjabi.

Clearly there is a political agenda here.

Derek - thanks for clarifying the point you are trying to make but if you are going to be a smartarse, please try and do it in a language you are sure of.

USA, Canada / USA, the nation of immigrants [30]

As has been said before, the US has the best and the worst to excess.

My lasting memory of it ( coming from Scotland ) is......its a big country.
Seeing it on TV, its all cities but when you travel there you realise just how big it is.

Plus when you go in to a small town shop they shout through the back " hey, come an hear this guys accent....."

News / IS NOBLE WINNER SZOSTAK POLISH? [68]

Stern is my own name , that of my fathers ..Perhaps a far cousin

Do some geneology - you can start by reading the Ankara document, dated 11 January 1941, that Stern wrote to the Nazis.

Proposal of the National Military Organisation (Irgun Zvai Leumi) Concerning the Solution of the Jewish Question in Europe and the Participation of the NMO in the War on the side of Germany.

Nothing to get proud of !

Amen.

News / IS NOBLE WINNER SZOSTAK POLISH? [68]

No one thinks that yair Stern is was nominated for Nobel price

Of course not - he was a Nazi collaborator - doh !

Berlin became a great ruin

Stern planned that for London and New York.

Hamburg and Dresden

Very insightful of you to compare Gaza to Hamburg and Dresden.

Yair Stern tried to save Jews by

...offering support to Nazi Germany to fight against the Allies.

Stern - keep up - the IDF themselves have admitted that bombing the schools was a mistake.

News / IS NOBLE WINNER SZOSTAK POLISH? [68]

You wonder about the number of Hamas casualties ?

The reference was to innocent women and children.

the enemy

Oh, I see.

military target

Like schools.

use of children as a weapon

Thats why the schools were targetted, I see.

Footnote - only an Israeli fukwit zionist could turn a thread about the Nobel prize into one about Jewish domination.

Stern - wasn't it Avraham Stern who twice offered support to Nazi Germany in 1941 ?
Offering to fight with the Nazis against the Allies.
