USA, Canada / Married a Mexican guy in USA - can I Divorce him from Poland? [16]

The annulement would be better but it has to be done under a year.

You have to be present in the country to apply for this - divorce is her only choice, unless she goes back to the US.

For a divorce she will just need to show her marriage cert to her solicitor and he /she can start the proceedings - citing the grounds for divorce etc. (would recommend speaking to ex before hand to agree on best option) - just because she didn't register her marriage in Poland doesn't make her a single woman.

I imagine there are no children or property involved so it wont take too long and it wont be too expensive.

do it as soon as possible so will not have problems to get married someone else in the future.

Think long and hard next time sweety :)

Is you a Rasta mon, fram Kingston? I-reyyyyy....

Don't be silly you only have to look at his avatar to see he's a gentleman from a diserning part of our great capital! deerrrrr! ;-)

Good. I don't like too much attention. Just want to be perceived 'normal', not 'Polish', if you get my drift.

Don't wear a backpack and you will be almost undetectable as a Polish person :)

England has some very funny laws, I mean why?

Some are very out-dated but can still be used our legal system has been around for quite a bit.

I was on the Shetland Island and there is some mad law about it being legal to shoot a Scot in a kilt on the beach on a Sunday with a crossbow, something along those lines, you will have to excuse me if it is not exact.
It sounded like some Lord did this and then made it law, therefore getting awa with it?

Shetland Isles are independent btw - not really Brit or Scot

News / iPhone to be Released Officially in Poland? [21]

The MDA Vario is a good phone also, does all you need, easy to use.

Sounds like my ideal phone - I hate mine - it's cost me a fortune because it keeps bloody switching the tinernet on when it's in my bag..........grrrrrrrrrrrrr - but in o2's defence they did refunded me over £50 and their customer service is pretty good and they have a 0800 (free) number to ring these days

History / Poland war propaganda poster - can anyone explain this picture? [292]

So, empire building was right for the Brits but wrong for everybody else?

;-)

Not everyone else, just Germans. You've been shown to make a bit of hash of it old boy.

Know your limits Gerry!

PMSL :) - Sorry Butty, we love you but you cannot compare what the Brits did to what Germany did :(

Life / PAYING TO TAKE A PISS IN POLAND, it's BIZARRE [77]

They have it in many many Europeans countries, it becoming more common in the UK too - Im happy if the toilets are kept clean not exactly a large price to pay.

Travel / New Year's in Krakow [22]

when nobody is around, it is like a scene from the lion the witch and the wardrobe, with huge snow flakes dancing in the ever so slight breeze

That just reminds me of a time I was coming back from the pub and over the charles bridge towards the castle one winter I was in Prague....it was completely deserted and was snowing - it has to be one of those moments that when I think about it, it will always make me smile :)

Kilkline

I can recommend a great Italian restaurant on Grodzka, 1 min from the main square - the waiters are pretty fit so that sould be nice for the wife :))))

UK, Ireland / Poles in the UK Turn Out to be Star Waiters and Waitresses. [13]

The money paid to staff is a factor here. When you're in a fancy restaurant the odds on being served well are better :)

Wrong, my friend waitressed when she was at uni and it's down to who you are as a person she worked in a Beefeater and was nice to everyone, miserable people will be just as miserable where ever they work and I've encountered some right biatches in nice restaurants.

UK, Ireland / Poles in the UK Turn Out to be Star Waiters and Waitresses. [13]

Poles can be admired for many things, and there is plenty of good stuff in this article about hard work, but treated politely in bars and restaurants?? Polite, in the sense of not really bothering with the waitressing aspect of the position or the customer service end of things.

Okay I have no anti polish feelings (I think everyone on the forum knows that), but I find this incredible - service is done in a miserable and unwilling manner in Poland and to be quite honest I have not experienced any great hospitality (when out in a bar or restaurant) from a Pole in the UK.

Some (mainly English) on this forum think it's funny and demeaning for Poles to clean toilets and wait on tables. They forget that these types of menial labour are usually simply a means to an end.

I think it's probably one person i.e. Noimmi - anyone with an grain of sense knows that work is work no matter what you do.

Maybe it was one argument too many and he'd had enough, cant blame him really I prefer to have friends I have a laugh with and enjoy their company not ones that pick fights! Each to their own though :)

Some of the Nazi stuff looks really gay to me.

It's not exactly manly!

But if that isn't gay then I don't know! :):):)

Maybe he is giving the other dude the kiss of life :)

British press was quite busy - here are some of what we had to offer:

Life / Fireworks! Where to buy them in Poland (3-city)? [13]

Some Guy (appropriately named) unsuccessfully attempted to blow up the houses of parliament?.
And youz celebrate it by rein acting his burning at the stake.

Strangely enough he was catholic and fighting against the government at the time, the school he went to refuse to acknowlege bonfire night, like most traditions people forget why they are and enjoy the excuse to drink mulled wine and eat toffee apples lol..oh lets not forget parkin and treackle toffee :) For us as kids it was an excuse to knick the HORRIBLE neighbours gates to burn ;-)

Love / Why english men like polish women ? [126]

I used her as an example of a strong woman from the right to illustrate a point about the evolution of the women’s movement.

I understand that, but I dont think she was a good example of a woman who has it all.

Love / Why english men like polish women ? [126]

Her espousal of Victorian values suggested that the traditional female role was one that women could continue to follow without having to justify themselves. ie women could choose their own path.

Maggie was a self-absorbed person who's only goal in life was to be PM - at the cost of her family life, not a woman to admired to be quite honest - she didn't have it all she had a career in politics from a young age and that was all she cared about. She was practically a man - minus the tackle!

Love / Why english men like polish women ? [126]

what age group are you talking about ?
i dont know if it is different in Uk,but from what I have gathered most men in their late 20s and early 30s are willing to commit.

Any age group - I worked in a male dominated industry on a secondment for 12 months in that time I had over 20 propositions from married men! all English! That's not what I call committed to marriage.

News / Poles are coming home [35]

I could only laugh at this remark:

"Simple things like being treated politely in bars and restaurants had all but disappeared before Poles arrived in large numbers to work here. Now that has changed and will remain changed. Britain is changing itself."

History / Drang nach Osten. [79]

Apropos the 'Chunnel of Love', would the French ever be insane enough to demand land back which the Normans conquered back in 1066???

Good point..but we have nuclear weapons now :) just let them try :)))) Them damn snail eating heathens ;-) But seriously we should thank the Normans they brought cutlery to Britain :) And thanks to the Romans they gave us roads, not sure what the Saxons brough but they did leave place names behind.

Life / Fireworks! Where to buy them in Poland (3-city)? [13]

I know they do not celebrate Bonfire Night so I am having my own.

Bless, how sweet :)

mypartyplanner.com/search/vendor/Fireworks/POLAND.html

We should start a campaign. November 5th, set off fireworks from your home and we will see how many brits there are in Poland. Don't think we will light up the sky, but could be the poland's funniest inside joke :)

Not sure the neighbours would take to kindly ;-) They started going off here (UK) about 2 weeks ago! Only another couple of weeks of it to go!

Yeah, they can be really irritating neighbors at times. ;)

Can you imagine the UK being renamed Zjednoczone Królestwo and being overrun with cabbage farms? Oh the horror.

We're surrounded by water so it helps to keep the riff raff out :)

Travel / Polish roads as recorded by myself earlier today [74]

isn't it ridiculous ?

It's disgusting!

It all looked fairly safe, (if not the filimng :D), 90 mph isn't really that fast considering the type of vehicle, I would put money on it that a mercedes clk would stop quicker from 90mph than a Polonez or any other badly maintained **** you see on polish roads would from 60 mph.

FFS - SPEED KILLS! doesnt matter what car they drive!!! People who drive fast or drink drive shouldn't be allowed on the roads again after their first offence because these bast*rds never learn!
