Polish Thoughts on Britain and the British

Ok I will share my opinion ...

I have been to UK but as a Tourist ...

I have noticed that people who come back form UK (from work, holyday ... ) Have good opinion about UK citziens, they complain about small things or particular persons (their employer or neighbour, some customs) but generaly they enjoyed UK and its citizens.

What I have heard about UK and I want to ask is it true : Do you feel discriminated in your own country, because a lot of people noticed that in some parts of big English towns they were asked when they were there If they are English and when aswered that they arent, atmosphere was more "safe". What is more I have hearded that there are some wars/riots betwen native and other UK citizens. So it is just the rumor or is it true?

I ask because I was surprised that you have parts of your towns where it is dangerous to be native ...

germans have average 107 iq

Dutch 107 iq

Poles 106 iq

so we have 3rd place in europe, just one point to Germans and I think it is statistical mistake

News / Poles in Iraq. What's the point? [160]

but taking out whatever frustration you might have on soldiers is unhelpful and inappropriate.

but USA doesnt seam to have an idea what to do to win this war, what is the most important our relationship (Poles opinion) isnt true friendship, F-16 off set, visas (USA now isnt tempting for lauborer), ban on Polish wepons in Iraq (you need alies , not competitors), modernisation of our army. People see it and thats why 81% of Poles wants our soldiers home.

History / Ross kemp on Polish Gangs/Nazis - Untermenschen Nazis..?? [69]

I have just watched whole reportage.

So as to hooligans, it is true.

as to this skinheads, yes I think most of skinheads are hools, but they are miniority in hooli society, I think thats why Ross had to go to Gorzow (still unsuccesful town) to see situation in the Pub, and I have noticed that those skinheads werent respected on stadium and on the street ...

Some times I go to watch the game in Poznan (Lech Poznan) the team mentioned in this reportage, so I have to say that I havent noticed any political slogans there, and Lech Poznan hools are well know as the best in "fist to fist" fights. As I know when they want to fight they make agreement with other hoolies and fight somewhere in forest . Riots happens as well but I have seen only one on stadium in Poznan ...

As to Cracow ... yes there is more serius problem ... and this is fact, and the influence of "Nowa Huta" is noticable (mentioned in reportage)

Both PiS and PO are economically socialistic

LOL flat income tax, flat cooperate tax and you call PO socialists :))) Have you watched debate when Tusk was talking about liberal economy and that it is our way (Irealnd) , and Kaczysnki started to talk about social benefits ...

I see you have problem to vote on PiS after debate so you try to prove that PO is socialist party, what is complete false. Your grate leader call them ( PO) liberals so ...

I think we can discuss in subject about PO and PiS not here

Cool, winged Hussars, got to see that movie!

Yes Hussars were grate, but in this movie they dont atack as they used to ... because when they charged they were knee by knee so it was much more impresing.

The Pianist also is a great movie, well balanced and featuring the heros of the Uprising (although this confused many septics and brits who thought it was the ghetto one..)

yes it is true that a lot of people think that Warsaw Ghetto Uprising '43 is the same as Warsaw Uprising '44 ... but it changes. Honestly I dont remember which one was presented in "The pianist"

Dekalog was shown in full on UK TV last year,I taped it and think its fantastic, also very interesting to see Warsaw from before

"With fire and sword" isnt so ambitious movie, but it shows how things looked in XVII century ...

News / Poles in Iraq. What's the point? [160]

In my opinion debate about Iraq is more about our relationships with USA, not about dead soldiers.

I feel that people dont see our business there, we have already spended 1 bln PLN on this war, and we dont have any profits. What is more this war is wrong (human rights, Iraq people opinion, oil) so most of people are against, and our politicians started to see it. There is one problem Kaczynski likes to be important ...

opinion pool about our mission in Afganistan Iraq ... red one is "I dont support our mission in ... " blue one is "I support ... "

wsddfg

and stats show that we were against Iraq just form begining, but our politicians wanted to go there and make photos with american president and feel that they are important. All in all Sarko and Merkel seams to do the same now (Iran)

News / Polish Election Poll (according to PolishForums) [237]

I m supporting PO and Tusk, but I dont think we should carre so much about things you mentioned, yes the difference betwen Jarek and his brother Lech is noticable. All in all we had a lot of "good" Poles ;) whose privae life wasnt casual catholic life ...

..there is a lot of jokes about his privat life but when peole decide who do they chose they rather dont carre about it

as to yesterday debate

the intersting fact is that in this capaing we dont have irrational discussion about Germans (I agree that we have some problems to solve, but we have to do it in other atmosphere), and Kaczynski realised that 80% of our society is pro Euproean and stoped talking his Euro stepthical slogans.

Tusk declared that he dont understand what we are doing in Iraq, accused Kaczynski who pretends to be taff player in foregin affairs of being subimissive in realtions with USA.

I think that Kaczynski was smashed durring first part of debate about economy ...

News / Polish Election Poll (according to PolishForums) [237]

Doesnt Kaczynski live with his mother?

yes he does ... but in Poland private life of candidates isnt important, Jarosla Kaczysnki is old single ;) his twin brother Lech (president) has family. Tusk after years of being in civil mariage decided to take it in church, and no body really cares about that ...

I have noticed that we talk here about Polish sousage or vodka and we have a lot of much more intereting things in Poland. The same as USA has much more interesting things to show than Bush or McDonald ;)))

as to communist times ... yes I agree we lost a lot of talents and time ...

Life / Polish art pictures [55]

information about this artist

here you have whole gallery of his famous paintings

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Matejko's_Gallery

as to details, yes they are really important, because there is a lot of historical persons, and their face or actions showed on painting have meaning. So maybe I will give you one exaple of it (the easiest ;) to show)

The jester is the only person at a royal ball who is troubled by the news that the Russians have captured Smolensk. This event happened in 1514.

and this jester isnt casual one ... (folow link below)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanczyk

so in other paintings most of characters have their interpretation, especially on pictures showing political events.

The Decalogue

Dekalog (The Decalogue) (1988) is a Polish film series, originally made as a television miniseries, directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski and co-written by Kieślowski with Krzysztof Piesiewicz, with music by Zbigniew Preisner. It consists of ten one-hour films, each of which represents one of the Ten Commandments and explores possible meanings of the commandment-often ambiguous or contradictory-within a fictional story set in modern Poland. The series is Kieślowski's most acclaimed work and has won numerous international awards, though it was not widely released outside Europe until the late 1990s. Filmmaker Stanley Kubrick described it as the only masterpiece he could name in his lifetime.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Decalogue

it is film about War & Love ;)))

With Fire and Sword (Polish: Ogniem i mieczem) is a historical novel by the Polish nationalist author Henryk Sienkiewicz, published in 1884. It is the first volume of a series known to Poles as the Trilogy, followed by The Deluge (Potop, 1886) and Fire in the Steppe (Pan Wołodyjowski, 1888), also translated as Colonel Wolodyjowski. The novel has been adapted as a film several times, most recently in 1999.

History / Ross kemp on Polish Gangs/Nazis - Untermenschen Nazis..?? [69]

I just saw the repeat tonight at one point RK says that a Skinhead/Hoolie is now Vice-Minister for Sport in Poland. True?

no, there was one photo made for him with scarf of Widzew £ódz when he was 18, and he didnt look "inteligent" on this photo ;) , but I havent heard that he is skinhead ...
