Feedback / Translation Threads - where did most of them go? [23]

I have obviously missed something (due to my laptop being fed with some beer and dying in progress i haven't been online much) as i have only just noticed that all the translation threads that are not recent anymore disappeard. Plus the count of my posts had been significantly reduced as well cos i posted quite a lot in that area of PF... What's the crack now?? What goes next??

Language / Correct form of BYĆ. Please help! [96]

'ja' fit only to 'm' ending = 'jam'
'ty' fit only to 'ś' = 'tyś'
'my' fit only to 'śmy' = 'myśmy'
'wy' fit only to 'ście' = 'wyście'

if you ask me, using these archaic forms to make Polish beginners remember the endings of verbs is totally confusing. what about on/ona/ono and oni/one? your examples only fit into the Past Tense as well and isn't it a bit wrong to start learning a new language beggining with the Past Tense? the "ś" disappears or turns into "sz" in Present and Future Tense of "ty", "my" or "wy", for example ty robisz/ty zrobisz, my robimy/my zrobimy, wy robicie/zrobicie. and as for "ja", the "m" ending only fits into Past and Present tense, your "students" wouldnt've guessed the person in "zrobię" if they were told that verbs used by "ja" only end with "m". these were only the simplest examples to prove your method of teaching the verb endings is wrong, i will not go into tryb or more complicated tenses. your pattern of how the above endings fit all the forms and persons of verbs is incorrect, so i'm wishing you luck with your teaching career as well as z_darius does. I'm not a qualified educator, but even i can see serious flaws in your method.

UK, Ireland / How to dial a mobile number in the UK [26]

+48 or 0048 should definitely work, unless the recipient hasn't got any credit to take your call. try sending a message instead and see if you get a delivery report or a reply.

first you dial 011 then the country code city code then the number hope you get through

yeah maybe if you were in america it would work

UK, Ireland / More Polish workers leaving the Isles [28]

7% of people comming back couldn't integrate into British society ...

more like couldnt be arsed to even try...

Not exactly backing up your tales of rampant polonophobia then is it? Sounds more like the ones who couldnt learn English.

yeah or that ;). or both.

Life / WINKING - A GOOD POLISH SIGN??? [28]

one of the Polish guys who works with us winks at me all the time

maybe he's got a twitch lol. i suppose its a good sign, winking is pretty much universal, it doesnt mean anything rude or nasty in Poland. my English ex bf used to wink at me a lot, but i suppose winking is a bit old fashioned now...

UK, Ireland / Polish mother and son jailed for life (POST THIS THREAD BY ITSELF) [32]

Yes they do. But thankfully its rare.

not so rare anymore, unfortunately. the youngsters know how to get around the law, and you are right they are not scared at all. have a bunch of those little jerks in the town where i live, they spend most of their day on the coop car park drinking and playing football, they give people evil looks and refuse to let the cars go through. and they always glare at you when youre going to the cashpoint, i get my bloke to walk me that way cos im too scared to go by myself... Those kids need some attention and discipline, where are their parents??

Love / My polish girlfriend has changed following death of dad.. [153]

but i'm Polish, too lol. it's got nothing to do with culture, everybody has their own way of coping with problems and some people tend to build a wall around themselves and not let anyone in.

News / Thank you Polish patriotic emigrants for sending money to Poland [27]

what about if they aren't actually american? residence doesn't make you who you are.

can you make up your mind? i thought people who are not in PL aren't polish according to your view. hmm

look at Lukasz's logic: you are truly Polish only if you live in Poland or live abroad but send all your money to Poland and visit regularely. But you are no longer Polish if you move abroad and dont send any money to Poland or don't visit more often than once in 5 years. Durniowi nie przetłumaczysz, on swoje wie ;). I suppose i'm about 50% Polish now as i only send money to Poland as a birthday treat or surprise to someone from my family BUT i visit about 1-2 times a year... And i'm not really planning to return and settle back down in Poland either. Would probably have to listen to people like Lukasz everyday telling me what a trator i was and always will be ha ha.

True, as long as you pay taxes you can do whatever you like with the money you earn.

yes, you have no responsibility to spend it in he country you earned it in. might as well wipe your ass with that money or have a bonfire, it's nobody's business.

Love / My polish girlfriend has changed following death of dad.. [153]

My girlfriend has told me that i was to over the top concern and careing it it pushed her away and were down...

i know i would really appreciate someone being caring and concerned about me if i was in a sad situation of losing my parent. i know i would actually need someone to be there for me and i would probably love the guy even more for that, not push him away and dump him... sorry to hear you were not appreciated.

UK, Ireland / Do Polish immigrants wish to stay in UK - long term? [92]

paki is a very racist term

but here in britian from a young age we learn that you cannot call people terms like ******, chink or paki.

lol what a feckin hypocrite, telling people not be racist whilst he's the worst racist scum ever to show up on this forum. you are disgusting, pathetic and very insecure if you are scared of the "Polish bog cleaners" so much. if being tollerant is what they were teaching you since you were a child then they obviously didnt do a good job with all them 1000s of pounds spent on your "education". i think it's better to educate a Polish kid with that money than trying to educate mugs like you. you are obviously a hopeless case.

UK, Ireland / Glasgow primary schools for the Polish community? [18]

my friends daughter is 8 and she adapted herself to the new environment very fast, she didnt speak much English but after a couple of years in an English school she speaks like a native, it's amazing. kids get teaching assistants to help them understand what's going on in the classroom, your partners little girl should be perfectly okay, maybe a bit frustrated and lonely at first, but kids learn so fast, especially when they've got no choice but to learn fast ;). plus knowing life there probably will be a few Polish kids in her class already! school doesnt start till September, you can visit a school with your partner and her daughter, walk them around and explain things. im sure it will be fine.

UK, Ireland / Free housing for Poles in the UK? [29]

they are just dodgy people thats all. that British guy living with them (he's one of the girls boyfriend) is in the exact same situation as i was, absolutely no rights in the house even though he shares rent and bills. they must have priority, if they dont get it they will fight for it. they invited their parents to stay with them for 2 WEEKS and you think they even asked him if it was ok? pffft lol. poor guy.

UK, Ireland / Free housing for Poles in the UK? [29]

imagine the kitchen, it must get busy when all six are trying to cook, lol, lets not even discuss bathroom issues hahahahaa

i used to live like this for 8 months when i first came here and its a total nightmare. there was never enough of hot water for everyone to take a bloody shower, and as the lot i lived with was all related to each other, i was the last person in line to do anything. couldnt even put anything in the fridge-freezer i have shared the money to buy just because they put their shopping in there first. bunch of tossers.
