Life / IS THERE NFL PROGRAMS IN POLAND [60]

You are in Gliwice, right? There is an NFL team here called the Gliwice Lions. The Silesian Miners of Katowice are Polish champions, having won the major tourney just 2 weeks ago. Both are coached by Americans. They have just changed Barry Sanders (Detriot Lions) with Paweł Nowak, that's all ;)

Maybe you should try out!?

There are some clips but I don't know about programs. I could ask as 3 of my American friends are coaches (1 assistant). They'd know.

Travel / What To Do In Gliwice Poland [37]

Tenpin bowling, ice-skating, cinemas, swimming pools, rock climbing and skateboarding. What part of Gliwice do you live in?

Life / How do Polish people view themselves? [92]

Hey, it's not my label. To my knowledge, it still has superpower status. America is no hyperpower as Russia is not a fully-fledged superpower.

UK, Ireland / Britain's bad teeth [77]

Scotland has a bit of a mix but my last dentist there was from Malta. Eat too many Maltesers and you are off to see a Malteser, hmm...

Love / Do not marry Polish woman [212]

Is this really an Estonian member? Is it because Polish women call themselves the best in the world and Estonians do too when a country between has nicer women? i.e Latvia.

Poland has many nearly pretty girls. They just have funny noses and are too 'almost there'. Marry, well, the process is underway.

It still has superpower status as America has hyperpower status. We all know that that's misleading but the labels stick.

I'm with Scrappy here, miraculously enough. Inferior? WTF?

Russia is a superpower. Name me a European superpower. I'm assuming you are applying such benchmarks/yardsticks.

Love / In your opinion, are most Polish women 'Easy'? [243]

If only life was that way. It was a Polish Old Krupnik night tonight and that'll do me nicely. Amber nectar at its best :)

Well, I'm off to find out if my wife is 'easy' tonight ;) ;)

If not, c'est la vie :)

It is pointless to talk about superior cultures. We are just different and that's that. Why would they trample on disenfranchised Russians? It's not the people's fault that they operate a quasi-autocracy there.

Don't give people a chance to shine and they'll never move forward according to their potential. Just ask Sasha on the forum, he wants more democracy for everyday Russians.

Polish people often have a negative image of themselves. Theft, lack of money, pessimistic and deficient in public services are just the tip of the iceberg. They are happy and uplifted when I tell them that I don't share in those half-truths. For me, the glass is half full and I can see the plusses here. Those that are positive have reservations and you can see that.

As Bobby McFerrin said, 'don't worry, be happy'.

News / Poland is the most friendly neighbor of Ukraine and Russia - Ukrainian poll ... [132]

You can be oriented and friendly when it comes to business. If you associate with a given mentality, you tend to be friendly and orientate yourself towards it.

Why class Europeans? Even Tony Blair tried to eradicate class as a 21st century phenomenon. The pursuit of so-called 'first class' European status can ruin people.

Exactly, the IRA and SAS had common Celtic heritage but very different objectives and outlook :(

You are forgetting what I was led to believe was a Slovak proverb (from my teaching) but what I believe to be Goethe. 'A man lives as many lives as he speaks languages'. I know this as I think differently when I use Polish, Japanese or French, for example. Never underestimate the brain-forming and orientating powers of language.

News / Poland is the most friendly neighbor of Ukraine and Russia - Ukrainian poll ... [132]

I have limited experience with Ukrainians but I met one girl from Kiev during my CELTA who said that, although they are comfortable with Russian language and concepts, they have carved out a fairly strong identity for themselves.

The other one, from Donetsk, was broadly pro-Russian and spoke Russian here as she felt more Poles would understand her. She was wrong.

Life / Are there any neutral or positive stereotypes of poles? [40]

Work is as work is in a given country. If Poland places the emphasis on factory-based production, more jobs will go in that direction. They are still seen as hard-working people in most parts of Scotland.

I said you hear, not watch, Scrappy. Synaesthesia catching you out again? ;0

A year, wow. How many countries? I've been round only 18 European countries but enough to see a few things.

Love / Is Sex Legal In Poland? [22]

What what? It's by chance that they shower? ;) ;)

Nothing like a top pair of knockers. I'm treated to the best pair I have seen every night.

Sorry, I just thought I'd share that. Sharing is good, you know?! ;)

You have no clue about Europe. Yes, we have the EU but Europe is definitely not an integrated unit. It is so diverse and I value such variety as it's the spice of life.

I have many Polish friends but they are so different in some ways. The laddish humour is what I like. You hear some funny stuff in dressing rooms.

Love / Is Sex Legal In Poland? [22]

I wonder how often Polish women initiate sex. I had a couple of short episodes before I met my wife where they couldn't get their panties off quick enough but I just get the impression that this isn't common and mind games are.

As the French baker said in a Scottish accent, a meringue? (am I wrong?)

The UK values paracetamol highly :)

I dislike histrionic types who exaggerate everything.

M-G, your English is brilliant!

Point no 3, well made. Donetsk, in the east of Ukraine, tends to be more Russia friendly. Lwów (Lvov) tends to be more Polish friendly.

As long as Tusk places a heavy emphasis on harmonious international relations, all will be well. I'm not a big fan of his but he doesn't rock the boat and nurse old scars like Jarosław Kaczyński did.

Tended is the past of tend. Those stupid questions.

Sheep aren't renowned for their hygiene but there are exceptions in almost all walks of life :)

My mother-in-law was joking that I'd have to set aside 400PLN per month in medical bills for her daughter, LOL. Medicine in Poland is erratic in terms of prices. Sometimes dirt cheap, other times expensive for things which are not entirely different.
