Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

You know what gets me, is all these self-proclaimed "enlightened ones" always just go for the personal insults...

Hahaha... First you criticize people that make some assumptions about people in the internet, and then you do the same thing. Funny. :)

Feedback / Thank you admin [52]

Likely run by Poles who will lead their countrymen to jail cells like they led Polish Jews for Nazis to the trains that took prisoners to death camps.

Are there any dragons in this story boys? :)

Love / Rules for dating Polish girls [189]

Yeah, that's tough luck, innit? You have to be strong now stevie. There are still a lot of females from other nationalities running around GB. The world doesn’t end on polish ladies, now does it? Besides, I bet they even weren’t worth you anyway. :)

UK, Ireland / Want to meet up with a Polish in Blyth [37]

Matyjasz do you plan to disguise yourself as one of a polish girls ?

I think that my enormous biceps and firm, tough, sexy, manly buttocks would give my true identity away very fast. :)

Love / Do u girls really like to get poems from men or it's rather overrated? [71]

I'm in a serious relationship for some time now, but if I were to take a woman for a first date I would choose to go to theatre, art gallery or restaurant. In a winter a skating rink is a interesting option. I would leave cinema for another time, when we would know each other more. Currently I'm thinking of taking my better part to opera, as she really fancies it. I'm not actually a major fan of it, but I’m ready to sacrifice myself for the sake of love. :) Generally I would always include a nice place where we could eat something, as I can't concentrate on spreading my charm on empty stomach. :)

yes... fir a first date. are you suprised?
When I get an invitation for a date, from polish guys it's always beer... ok sometimes coffee..

But do you mean situation like: you just meet a guy and he spontaneously offers to take you for a drink or a cup of coffee at the spur of the moment, or you meet a guy and he invites you for a drink or a cup of coffee the next day?

UK, Ireland / gay guys in London seek surrogacy female [134]

I don't think that gay couples should be allowed to adopt children. Does that make me a homophobe too?

Damn, I promise myself not to get provoked to engage in that kind of discussion. :)

Love / Do u girls really like to get poems from men or it's rather overrated? [71]

no poems, please. usually it is just akward when a guy is reading a poem for a girl... in such a moment I will probably just laugh

Everyman’s nightmare. Being laugh at after putting down ones guard. :)

Polish guys take you for a coffee or beer (for a first date) usually it's a beer

For a first date? :)

Language / Whats with the Polish "U" ? [12]

"Uspoko" - never heard it. But after hearing some conversations between teenagers, everything is possible. :)

Life / I want to leave Poland [82]

Personally I don't think that English government should help those less fortunate Poles that ended up on the street. Few months ago I read about some polish organization called "Arka" that went to the UK to help them out, and I think that it's more fair that way. Still, I appreciate your concern. :)

There was they seem to have vanished !! thank god you noticed too, i was getting paranoid

No more piwo or spiritus for me either

Uff, we can go back to our drinks lads, the forum was just being moved to another server. :)

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

Defenately, we can agree that it's not exactly a norm among polish men, but still I think that they get married faster then other men.. or it's just my impression??

I don't have a clue how fast other men marry, but I think that there’s something to it that polish men generally treat every relationship serious.

Life / Polish writers and poets - what is worth reading? [20]

I read a lot of history and psychology books during my leisure time (if I'm notbrowsing this forum that is :) ). the last book not related with the themes mentioned above wouldb be Sapkowski's "Pani jeziora". I would recommend Sapkowski's works to every true fan of fantasy. He's just brilliant.

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

I suppose it would depend how many affairs the priest has had...lol, but yes it is a bit silly that for man who has no experience to be giving advice...I take you wont be going for instruction off the local priest when you get married then!

:) I'm interested in what he has to offer. Who knows, maybe I end up pleasantly surprised. :)

I was as much suprised as you are !!!

Since you are equally surprised at this situation as I am, can we agree that it's not exactly a norm among polish men to do such a careless thing? Or do you have a tendency to get easily surprised by things that are normal? :)

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

3, and 2 people who engaged after one month

Sorry kaka, but it's just hard to believe. Even movie stars are not that lahdidah...

Can you explain??

"Before marriage teachings" - young couples meet with the priest, who is giving them some basic wisdome about the institution of marriage. I don't know what exactly he is telling them. It's a bit silly if you ask me. How much a priest can know about a real

marriage? :)

In England (not so much now) the marriage is announced in the banns when they are read in church for the three weeks leading up the wedding, does this happen in Poland??

Yes the marriage is being announced, but i think it's only in a short time before it.

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

ha! not only. I m just wondering if they are so desprate so they try to do everything to keep girl with them or they are real catholic so to make something faster thay gettin married. usually it happens in villages

A "real catholic" has to attend the "nauki przedmałżeńskie" before he can get married. It usually takes more than 3 months to complete them. How many people do you actually know that got married after a 3 month relationship?

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

That is what I FEEL after a long time study in Polish history and culture. Such a subjective statement like what I have said could hardly be scientifically explained. However, I believe non-Poles who have a long-lasting interest in Poland like me usually end up in the same feeling.

Blimey, still don't know what you mean, but very well then. Have it your way.

Mitffoch, some of your points sound XIX century. :)

ryheen, do you personally know a character called uk_? Just wondering. :)

Love / Polish Men and their attitude towards sex and relationships [60]

If you ask Polish men why they married English women I doubt you'd get an answer.

Because then they would have to admit that English and Polish women are at least equal in terms of beauty etc.

:) Hmmm... Yeah, polish men appreciate the beauty of polish women, and very often don’t mind saying it out loud in public, it's true. As for your second sentence, sorry to bring it up, but you wont see many polish posters of this site, if any actually, slagging of English women. Just my 2 p worth.

of coruse, it's not bad, but sometimes it's too fast... i personaly think that it's quite irresponsibly to get married after 3 months realtionship.

:) I think things like that happen only in Hollywood.

Life / Poland is wearing me down. :( Polish excuses... [30]

I am soooooo fed up with these lame excuses i hear all the time in this country. "i had no credit on my mobile" "i don't have time" "I will SMS you later" "i never got your message on GG" I have never run into this as much anywhere i have ever been.

Nauczyciel, it isn't a normal situation. It may sound harsh, but it looks that those people either don't like you or fear you. It's hard to be objective after hearing out only one side, but there's something definitely wrong going on there. People don't behave like this without any cause. The behavior that you mentioned above is as rudest as it could possibly get. This woman didn't even try not to hurt your feelings. I mean what's up with that? There are two probable scenarios, first one: you encountered a bunch of rude morons, the second one: you are a antisocial person. Or maybe the truth lies somewhere in between? We wont figure it out here. But there is something that got me thinking:

I was told by a co-worker that i have a good relationship with, that all the other teachers are afraid to be friends with me now, because they do not want to get on my "bad side". We all used to go out for a drink a few times a week after work....now we do nothing.

Have you ever had any problems with your temper perhaps? I'm not trying to impose anything, just wondering.

I was also told that all the other teachers are talking about me...that it looks like i am trying to pick up girls. WTF?? I do not date my students nor my collegues. It is a commitment i made to myself. Sure i talk with female students....but it is strictly professional. So if my collegues consider me talking to a female student as "trying to pick her up" its pretty sad

Are you sure you aren't sending them any wrong signals that you aren't aware of? I saw your picture in the thread "Post a pic of yourself"( Post#895), and it got me thinking you know. People that are biased towards somebody very often interpret some situation as they want it to.

polishforums.com/post_pic_yourself-16_1959_29.html#msg51688

Still I hope that everything will turn our fine for you. Pozdrawiam.

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

dont know why but some of polish people dony like Germans.

The truth is that it will take some time before both sides will completely forget about our history. On the surface everything is OK, we have the XXI century and we are civilized people. But the fact is that somewhere inside Germans do fell superior to poles, and poles feel hate to Germans. It's stronger than us.

For almost 200 years Germans were being taught that Poles are inferior, and some beliefs are hard to uproot. Especially since there are still people living that remember the WWII. I don't hate Germans. I see the similarities between us, and I have some German friends, but at the same time I know that it would take only one spark to get back to the previous situation.

Law / Poland - a more and more Investable Country [41]

Also people are constantly attaching countries policies over the last hundred years to individuals.

This statement should be stressed as it is a very valid and meaningful point. Common people and actions taken out by their governments shouldn't be mixed.

Here we go I don't care about the past because its done.

In this I don't believe you. The history of our countries has it's huge impact on our life’s, and after reading many of your posts I honestly don’t think that you have no interest in history and politics. But I do see why you could feel tired by some topics that seem to come back again from time to time. I have my opinion on this subject, but it’s too late to write anything about it. Maybe next time.

USA, Canada / American attitude towards Poland [89]

My parents had some explanation that had to do with the Russians promoting the idea of dumb Poles as propaganda.

And German. Generally Germans were trying to convince the world and themselves that poles are worse and dumber then other nations to justify the partition of Poland. You know, the whole "Poles are to dumb to govern themselves, so we actually are doing them a favor annexing their land." I would also add the fact that Poles that came to USA after the polish uprisings, because they didn't know English language were forced to take the menial jobs and were depict as dumb.

PS: Somewhere on this board there is also FISZ's explanation. Also very true.

History / how many labour camps in siberia? [11]

Many Polish soldiers died during their journey to the place of mobilization, or never were even informed that there was an amnesty and that they were free to go and join polish army. Sad.
