My Tribute To Poland [29]
"Suddenly, defining the term `religious` became a lot easier.
Again, note that Poland is not in this list of largest Christian populations"
Then the study is invalid. Poland is 96% catholic! If catholics are christian then poland would be a more religious country than the USA on the assumption it's the proportion that determines how religious a country is and not the number of followers of a religion. How come it even bothers to show the percent of religious individuals in china? That study isn't refering to the percent of religious individuals it is referring to the number! We aren't talking about who has the "most" individuals in a population that are religious we are referring to wat proportion of individuals in the population are religious! China is an extremely unreligious country because of the small percentage of the population that practices religion.
Christianity is a large tradition with many different denominations having completely different systems of belief. It is difficult to even consider some denominations the same religion because of contradictory principles and laws. America has a christian tradition because so many individuals have a respect for christ not a christian religion.
Sure that`s less than 90whatever% of Polish people identifying themselves as Catholic but at least we`re honest about it. You are in some serious denial Rocky, if you actually believe that America is a secular country and that defining the term `religious` is actually relative. Religion in America is pretty cut and dry rather than the diverse thing you think it is.
You`ll note that Poland was not in the top 10, although Russia was. There goes your theory that Poland is the most religious European country.
=) So then Poland would be more religious because u can state a single denomination and a single set of principles as being the vast and controlling majority. U just disproved your own argument. =D So u think the generally accepted definition of "most" religious means the number of individuals with complete disregard to the ruling majority? Keep in mind we are looking at the country as a whole and not just the religious individuals which would disregard the majority. It is the majority that defines a country!
We can agree that poland has one of the highest percent of christians out of any european country then? I believe it's the percent of individuals who are religious that constitutes a religious country and not the number. We all know china is not a religious country so including it in the study would invalidate it being used as evidence to show how religious a country is or is not! This isn't about the number of individuals it is about the percent.
Under your system of thought demonstrated by ur reasoning a small country with 20000 individuals that was run by the catholic church under a theocracy containing a 100% catholic population wouldn't b as religious as china! RIGHT? YES or NO =)
I sure hope u realize that "one of the most" is an opinion by the time u attend law school. I do find it honorable that u are willing to stick to a point and argue but sometimes u just cannot win! Then u get PWNED by me! =)
