Food / Why did Taco Bell leave Poland? [82]

My city has more Mexicans than your entire state! Mexicans eat those dishes at home but they don't serve them in restaraunts. I've never been in a Carne Mercedo so I don't know what's in there (there's a huge one in my city). I'm sure they have what you mentioned and much more. I don't know because I don't eat authentic Mexican food.

Yes, I'm sure if I went to the Mexican Meat market I could get what you mentioned easily, it's just I don't feel like eating it.

There's a big difference between authentic Mexican food and authentic Polish food. Most Americans would not eat authentic Mexican food, which is why they serve

Tex Mex in the restaraunts. Real Mexican food is too full of meat by products (like beef brains) and ingredients like Wasps and Cactii which is why it doesn't get served in restaraunts.

The authentic stuff is way too exotic for me. I'll stick with Tex Mex. They don't serve the authentic stuff in the restaraunts, even.

Food / Why did Taco Bell leave Poland? [82]

There's a lot of Mexican restaraunts around here, owned and run by people from Mexico that have moved here. They serve Tex Mex food. I have been to On The Border (a franchise). I like their enchiladas. That's my fave Mexican restaraunt around here. I've never been to Chipoltes. Several Pablo Grills just opened. If I see a Chipolte's, I'll be sure to go. Oh, yeah, there's lots of Taco Bells, too, with Black Jack tacos (tacos with black shells). I've had a couple of them with chicken. They're pretty good.

Margaea, I'm not sure how Mexican the burrito is, anyway. It could be a "Tex Mex" adaptation. Mexico has so many variations of these foods with little old ladies selling them in open markets. There's so many variations, I cannot recall the specific names. One burrito might have refried beans (frijoles) while others have this slimy cactus leaf inside. In some parts of Mexico it's traditional to eat dishes made from cactus leaves. Mexico has carne mercedos complete with swarms of flies and the heads of many animals.

Love / Personal issues with two women, they want to be my friend - a Polish thing? [49]

They both say that want to be friends, and friends only and that's ok with me - but they don't act like friends,

Actually, since you said there's no hint of anything sexual, it does sound like that's all these two want, a friend to go out and do things with. They sound like nice friends, btw. Sometimes men hate that women only want to be friends. Sometimes that's all we want, a friendship.

Real Mexican food is delicious,

Real Mexican food is diverse. Each Mexican state has it's own dishes, handed down from native tribes. One recipe involves the aquisition and cooking of a wasp's nest with wasps and larvae inside.

Life / What are people in Poland REALLY saying about 'swine flu'? [41]

I've only caught one really bad flu. If someone would have offered me a flu shot before I got it, and I knew how bad it was going to be, I would have gladly taken the flu shot. I can't say for sure it was H1N1, but, it was really severe and it's strange that I would go so long without catching anything and then, suddenly, one that's more severe than average is going around and everyone is catching it, including me. Maybe that's why the cases in the US haven't been as bad, everyone was exposed to H1N1 a few years back? I was suprised they didn't make a big deal about it when it was making the rounds a few years back. It wasn't just your ordinary flu. Maybe most of the world has been exposed to H1N1 by now.

I did see a guy walking around in one of those dust masks the other day. He was walking thru the in door of a grocery store. He did look really silly with that blue bra cup shaped mask over his nose and mouth.

Life / IS THERE NFL PROGRAMS IN POLAND [60]

You sure about that? Not in the South or Midwest, Pennsylvannia? Hello. My own California has provided the NFL with some it's most notable stars. Tom Brady for instance.

That was years ago. Now they play Soccer. Football is losing popularity, more so every year. NFL better do something or it could go out of business.

More kids play soccer now than in the 80s. It's like, everyone is playing soccer and barely any are playing football. High School soccer games are just as popular as football ones.

Life / IS THERE NFL PROGRAMS IN POLAND [60]

Ya thats such a girly sport, Im glad it has never taken off in America:)

Just you wait. There's so many kids playing soccer right now...waaaay more than playing football. By the time the kids playing now get to be in their twenties they are going to be way more interested in soccer than football. Soccer is going to become very popular in America very quickly so get ready. NFL is on the way out...

Love / Polish girls lying [193]

I saw something suspicious the other day at the store, so I might be in a cynical mood. Those are the kind of situations that make me wonder...where will they be in five years? If your kids aren't getting along with the new boyfriend, then you should find someone else. Kids can tell when someone isn't good and they won't get along with the ones who aren't. Same goes with guys and their new girlfriends. You gotta find a partner that is willing to work things out without the harshness, hitting, or scaring the kids. In the right situation, nearly anyone can build great partnerships and all stories have the potential for success. You just gotta convince people what they are doing isn't in their best interest, in the long run, and they got to work on promoting an environment that's psychologically and emotionally healthier or seperate. That simple.

Love / Polish girls lying [193]

(But maybe you can agree with me that she made it sound like guys are worthless?)

It depends on the situation. In a situation where you have a woman, her young child (around age three) and a mean guy who is being harsh, yes, the guy is worthless. I wouldn't put up with it. I don't know why anyone would. The new bf has to accept the woman and any children as one and love them all equally and treat them all with respect or he should be out.

Love / Polish girls lying [193]

Uhm.. Your son will be someone else's guy in the future? (So I take it your daughter is worth more than any son?)

;)

She is right. Kids should be the center of every parent's world. If you have kids and divorce your spouse, you shouldn't neglect them just because you are busy looking for someone else. I saw at the store, a woman with a small child and a new boyfriend and the boyfriend was being mean to her child. I think women should dump men who are like this.

Love / Polish girls lying [193]

polish girls lie as they breathe. the more prettier a girl, more lies she says.

You can say that about attractive people in general. If someone is really attractive, you can expect them to have a busy social life, with lots of friends and lovers. It goes with the territory. You can't expect them to stay alone and not be with others when everyone is so nice to them and goes out of their way to make them happy. You might have a problem with this. If you do, maybe you should find yourself someone who's desperate and ugly because they will spend most of their time with you since no one wants to be around them.

News / A THOUSAND PEOPLE WITH SWINE FLU....just over the Polish border.. [43]

How many Ukrainians died last year from the "regular" flu? Now it's got a new name so it's in the news. Flu is a flu whatever you call it.

I did catch something really bad a few years back, about seven years ago...and it was just awful, the worst flu I ever experienced in my life! It was way different in intensity than anything I had before and it involved my stomach. Somewhere around there I had one that involved coughing and mucus. I wonder if these were H1N1 and they have been around a lot longer than people realize? It was strange catching that stomach one because rumor was, a terrible, severe flu was making the rounds and everyone was catching it. It was true, too.

That's the only time I caught a really terrible flu.

News / Time for a review of Germanic Polish relations ? [30]

Nietzsche was just as much against antipolonism as he was against antisemitism.

This is true. In his writings, he criticized both prejudices and thought they diminished the German zeitgeist. He wanted to see Germans and Prussians as more tolerant, less chauvanistic and definitely less Christian. He was against Christianity and Judaism on these fronts, calling them slave religions and slave moralities. He had something in common with Jewish Athiests here, although he supported the idea of monarchies with powerful, noble, aristrocratic "ubermensch" running the show. The common people should only exist to witness the actions of the "ubermensch" is the idea behind his ethics and theology.

He believed in the "good European" as opposed to nationalism (nationalism is why he despised the Prussians) and considered himself quite cosmopolitian. I would consider him a liberal.

News / Time for a review of Germanic Polish relations ? [30]

There was a guy - Nietzsche we call him. He even felt close to be Polish than German. He had no Polish blood whatsoever but ( we dont know why ) he felt about himself as a Pole. Strange.

There's a reason why. He had a fallout with the mighty composer Wagner over the kiss ass opera "Parsifal" which Nietzsche thought of as sucking up to the King. He was disgusted at Wagner over that. He, also, didn't like the chauvinism of the Prussians. Nietzsche's last name looks like a mixture of Polish and German, so he claimed to be Polish just to insult the Germans and a dig at Wagner, the epitome of German culture at the tiime. This is why he was so proud to call himself a Pole. He, also, admired Poles and said they had more culture than Germans.

Strange.

It's not strange at all if you read a few Nietzsche biographies.

Well, you should take caution with your daughter and, perhaps, get her an H1NI immunization. I'm sure she will be fine, but it would be a good idea to be a little extra careful. I am sure you probably already are during flu season, anyway.

Don't worry about the swine flu unless you have underlying health concerns. If you are healthy you won't get it too bad. It takes it's toll on those with underlying conditions more than it does those in good health.

Considering my location, I am sure, by now, I have been exposed to H1N1 multiples times and I haven't gotten ill. Not once.

Love / What do Polish women think of feminism? [99]

Vassar College Assistant Dean of Students.

These New England women's colleges hardly represent most women. They are ivory league and very elitist. They are going to make detached utterances that haven't much to do with the situation of most women, married and needing money to support loved ones. The man and the woman, together, must come up with ways to pay for all the crap. The woman having access to the same amount of $$$ as her husband is the heart of feminist ideals.

Love / What do Polish women think of feminism? [99]

Indeed, it is feminism which has ousted women from the house not husbands. You seem to be unaware that philosophically feminists have looked down on women who stay at home and raise families.

And you seem to be unaware that most men want their girlfriends and wives to have jobs and this is what feminism is about. Women want to make the same amount of money men make and since so many men do not want to be the person soley responsible for providing funds for their family, including their wives, they insist their women find jobs. Most men hate the idea that women are sitting around the house in a protected environment day after day while they have to get up early and drive to work. They want women to do their fair share. Think about it this way. A woman could be sitting around at home wasting time earning nothing or, while her kids are at school and her husband is at work, she could be turning her hours into cash as well.

Love / What do Polish women think of feminism? [99]

Feminists are wacky men-hating spoiled unhappy females. Those who exhibit hate because of their emotional 'feelings' have a pall about them.

Not really. Some might be gay which makes them biased in favor of women, but there are plenty of gay men with lots of money who like men a lot more than they do the opposite gender.

What you call "feminists" are mostly married women with a family to support who has a husband who yells "I am sick of supporting you! Get a job!" so, naturally, since women are so smart, they want a job that pays them a lot of money so they can lovingly spend that money on their families (including the husband).

USA, Canada / Do you think Americans are idiots. [149]

They might leave Poland, but they stay within the EU and that's sorta their country now. Just like in the US. People from the east coast visit the west coast, work, and return to the east coast. People transfer all over the place. What century is this? You guys are acting like it's an unpardonable sin to ever go anywhere when this is how the vast majority of the world live. It's a mobile society and the control freaks aren't going to change that. If somebody wants to go one place, make some money and send it another place more power to them. That's how prosperity happens. In the corporate world, people transfer all the time and it's NBD. You don't stay in one spot for fifty years.
