News / Should Polish citizens living abroad have the right to vote in elections [69]

I think only native born citizens who live most of the time in that country should be able to vote (ie someone who travels half of the year still should be able to but not someone who lives abroad)

Immigrants too often vote in the interest of their home country and not their host country in my opinion. Thus the native born thing I wish was applied.

News / Is it time to tighten gun laws in Poland? [146]

Every household with a gun, wouldn't that lower crime?

In fact is has been demonstrated that areas with higher numbers of concealed carry permits issued do have lower crime rates.

News / Is it time to tighten gun laws in Poland? [146]

As I said, FOR A SPECIFIC PURPOSE elsewhere. I stand by that. If u wanna shoot at targets at a distance, fill ur pants, have a ball.

But how would you control what people used the gun for once they owned it? You are happy to allow them for target practice..but once they are out there the owener can use it however they choose. I am confused as to your point now??

You said you wanted a gun policy that is not wide open...our's is not :) Despite what your Michael Moore reference has told you not just anyone can go into Wal Mart and buy a gun with no ID or background checks. They also are not going to sell to someone clearly whacko.

I didn't say I was against limited access to guns.

Two things...the guns that most people use for target practice can kill just as well and often are the same guns used for anything else. So that kind of goes against your main theme of guns being bad because they kill.

Second...I am glad to see you agree with US policy on guns....as they ARE limited in access and have several controls on place regarding purchase. :))

Travel / WE ARE BACK FROM POLAND AND HERE IS OUR REPORT [96]

We tried waving and smiling and they just stared. But we won't give up!

Yeah nothing like annoying the locals with your totally out of place habits to make friends :)))

Seriously I have nothing against you being positive...but it is a bit pushy to try and force that on everyone else. Would you go trot around in a muslim place in Daisy Dukes because you like them? Overbearing friendliness is NOT a Polish characteristic and a bit rude of you to be so forceful with it to be honest. You likely make more people uncomfortable than anything.

They serve as an effective deterrent. America is as America is. It's a gun culture, it'd be impractical to phase them out.

Right...and I hope when you teach you don't let your clear and extreme bias against them show. Students often take what teachers say as true. Even guiding discussion can be done in a way to show them your disdain. I have see it in anti military teachers. They can get really ugly when 'discussin' the issues.

News / Is it time to tighten gun laws in Poland? [146]

There are MANY Aussies with their boomsticks buried in PVC pipes or hidden in other secret places. If they ever tried a gun collection in the USA it would be very ugly. A lot of people would just give them up as many gun owners are not tuned into to the freedom and take it for granted. But...some would fight to the death and a lot of the Police and military tasked to collect them would refuse. Therefore I don't think it will happen. The antis are trying the "death by a thousand cuts' tactic instead.

Life / Disability Law and Payments in Poland - Questions [6]

Before you make a big deal out of this make SURE they are cheating. Some people are legitimately on the pension for a certain problem but can still do some things.

I knew an old guy back in the USA who a bunch of nosy neighbors with nothing better to do messed with. They created a huge hassle for him and in the end it turned out he was all legit and not cheating or doing anything wrong given his problem. Sometimes people worry a little too much about others lives. Personally I think most people on aid are legit...it's the few that cheat that make a bad reputation for the rest and blow the image out of proportion.

But at the same time Eric is actually saying it is OK to cheat the system since it's the only way to survive? WTF?

Question 7

U shoot sb in self defence for fear of ur life. U feel there was an imminent threat. U kill them. What's ur penalty under American Law?

First you will be investigated...the gun confiscated for tests. The local prosecuter will decide whether or not to charge you with a crime based on the investigations findings. In some states this is faster and easier than others. If they deem it a "good shoot" then you get your gun back and no legal problems befall you. Much the same process that occurs when a cop shoots someone.

News / Is it time to tighten gun laws in Poland? [146]

Basically yes. But I would make every effort to resolve the situation without going to lethal force....that includes running away. If that was not possible and I was as positive as one reasonably could be that he was going to shoot me or an innocent person in his reach I would try my best to take him out first.

Do Americans value human life as of the utmost importance?

I believe so. I also believe that is why people carry guns in self defense. They want the ability to protect their lives and the lives of loved ones and innocents should they be threatened by someone who does NOT value life in such a way.

Every gun training class starts with...if you and those in danger can run away then do so. People are not 'looking' to kill...it is a last resort.

not serious...only in the arm...hurt tho....

Care to share? The more details the better.

Today, 19:22 Report #77

A little about guns is different from little about guns, dumbass

Yes, OK, I can tell you that the number is much higher in America.

Question 3

Why is that?

Well I know a lot about guns and I can tell you do not. Being unfamiliar with something often brings a fear along with it.

Answer 3: In my opinion it is because (hang on for the shocker) we have more guns and more overall crime thus those guns are used more in commiting AND defending the crimes. There would also be MORE gun deaths if law abiding citizens could not own them. Bad guys still would and would use them with impunity.

A point...not all gun deaths are good guys. I feel no loss for a killer or rapist etc being shot. Next...though the above reason is likely true it does not justify making guns illegal all together. I bet you Scotland has more knife deaths than the entire USA...and it is tiny by comparison....we have WAYYYYY more knives than you and somehow this still stands....

I added a point in editing so maybe reread it before accusing me of changing something.

USA, Canada / Visa red tape, how to move to Poland from the USA? [9]

Are these absolutely necessary

These and so much more. You have no idea the hassle you are in for.

Yes you can come here with just the passport and apply for a residency card at the immigration office (there is no extended visa or visa at all for US citizens really...just the 90 day entry stamp and the residency card)

Probably the biggest obstacle is you need an official reason to apply...one the Polish government accepts. These are normally Marriage with a Pole...a job or job offer from a company operating in Poland...being a full time student at a Polish university...or a few other rare situations such as being a refugee etc. You can't just get one because you 'want' to stay here. Even if you have one of the above reasons you are in for a whole mess of required documents and things you have never even heard of and will have no end of trouble getting.

It was interesting for me as I know a little about guns.

I gathered that ;)

Is the number of gun-related deaths in America higher than in Europe

Europe overall? I honestly do not know and would have to look it up. I would guess yes.

including being shot by one

Ouch....

Yes they can kill...because living organisms might not survive metal projectiles penetrating vital organs at high rates of speed and pressure. ;)

Or simply....the damage done by the bullet can end breathing and bloodflow.

That is both how and why they kill :)

USA, Canada / OBTAINING POLISH CITIZENSHIP (living in the USA). Petition documents? [28]

She is saying after 2 years and six months you can get Polish citizenship. At least the way it is written the "you got it in two months" is pointing to getting the citizenship after living in Poland 2 years...getting a permit...and then six months later you can get citizenship. Maybe she meant you get the residency permit in two months but that doesn't follow the way she listed it.

The stuff I saw said you need to apply within 6 months of your 5 year marriage mark and also that you needed to live here for 2 years. Granted that was a couple years ago and we all know how the laws here change spontaneously.

Accidental deaths caused by sth that wasn't designed to kill are far different from intentional deaths caused by sth that was designed to kill, wouldn't u say?

OF COURSE it is differently semantically. But deaths are the point here...not the intended design for the tool.

I really doubt you are against guns because they were DESIGNED to kill over the fact that they DO kill. The DEATH is the negative outcome we are discussing here.

You are the ducker (that just sounds wrong) as you have avoided the death issue in favor of a semantics argument. I know YOU know this and are being all strategery as Bush would say.

Love / More beautiful Polish women: in Warsaw or Krakow? [37]

How does your guy cheating on you translate to me having bad experiences with women?

I have had both good and bad ones...just like everyone.

Still....let us know in a year ok? Tell us if you are still so positive :))
