they're about 25 years old!

Love / My Polish boyfriend fancies are Pakistani neighbor. What do I do ? [291]

here that a lot in Glasgow, i don't go there enough anymore since my Gran died, i miss the Glaswegian tongue :)

I was with my Polish friend and her boyfriend last night and he was teaching me little bits of Galic and this new word pish has become stuck at the top of my tongue in the space of a day.

if only C4 and ITV etc had not adverts, dream world, no paying and no ads :)

Thats why I just buy boxsets of tv shows, also now hanging on in quiet desperation waiting for next weeks show.

I thought now the IRA are no longer 'active'??? Or is it like the KGB, its all behind the scenes

Exactly.

yeah your right there, channel four news is always a lot better and more candid anyway, that BBC rubbish, pppffff what do we pay £140 a year for hay.

2 channels that have no advertising I wouldnt mind paying for that. Although I dont watch much tv, its all 'pish to me.

i was only messing with you, Kneecapping, as i understand an old IRA way of convincing people not to go against their word and also a word of warning to those who turn 'tout' against the cause!!!

Yes they had a way of "convincing" people to do certain things, and I dare say those happy chaps can still be seen giving an odd reminder here and there that they're not going to stop being persuasive. And it'd take something alot more personal than something about the RA th ruffle my feathers.

dam, we'll have to give the interview to channel four news, they'll publish anything

Go with channel four I want to be brash and coarse with my language if I ever make it to tv, I think its ine of the few ways to gain celebrity status.

hay don't speak to Ed about that, The Irish used to have a special way of making people in debted to them weak at the knees, infact they couldn't walk again EVER afterwards!!!

I believe it may also have had something to do with a protection racket they were running, but like I said Im far too passive for such tomfoolery :)

i don't think we at the BBC could quote that, could you change that into broadcastable language please, lol :)

Here here, Ireland used to be a homogonous country and over the last ten years or so we've seen an explosion of different nationalities. But you've still got your small minded minority, but I say let it roll.

DRC is only new here, give him a chance :) Whats this for; lol?

Language / "just" and "either" in Polish [17]

Good for you, it shouldn't matter what drives you to learn a new language once you learn a bit everyday, and have fun, at least thats my thesis. :)

Language / "just" and "either" in Polish [17]

Please, if I wanted to go down that road Id just ask someone how to say stuff, thats is where I got an interest in it Im not going to lie, but its just something that I have to do now Im in too far, learnt too much and had a crazy time the last few months. And Im also looking down the road to the advantages of having a second language. Why do you learn it? Or are you Polish?

Language / "just" and "either" in Polish [17]

it's about knowing how to put a correct sentence together. that's where knowledge of the lovely Polish grammar comes handy ;)

I wish I did know but there's only 24 hours in a day, I can have a conversation but when I use new words I get a little mixed up in the grammer.

But like I said thanks for the constructive critisism.

Ed, are you taking lessons?

I dont get lessons as such, I study books and work on my conversational skills in work then I come home and practice my writing and reading, anything I dont understand from work I ask here and anything I dont understand here I ask in work. I was called a polophile last night which I was rather happy with. Its such an interesting and challenging language its all I do lately.

Thank you Justysia

i can tell you used a dictionary to translate these sentences, people should realise that translating things word by word is hardly ever a good idea...

I can appreciate this but Im only learning the last few months, There are certain things I can say and translate when I see a sentence but theres so many ambigious words in Polish that Im going to need it for a while yet.

UK, Ireland / The best Polish bars Uk and Republic of Ireland [12]

there is one in Capelstreet, which doubles as a restaurant and seems to be quite good

I went there before and was told that it was a restaraunt only, I was a bit disgusted cos it took me a while to muster up the courage. Maybe they didnt like the cut of my jib.
