UK, Ireland / Polish mother and son jailed for life (POST THIS THREAD BY ITSELF) [32]

great. Good, cheeky, Canadian comment:)

Why thank you :)

And we get yours as well. We both have free societies in which it's easy to blend in. (Canadians only get caught when they say, "I'm oot of here."

touché.
We'd know the Americans too, "He was ahootin' and ahollerin". The southern twang would be a giveaway

lol yeah are prisons are bursting with polish inmates which we pay for thanks to this insane EU

Yeah, because England had a low crime rate before Poland was allowed into the EU....Keep dreaming!

UK, Ireland / Polish mother and son jailed for life (POST THIS THREAD BY ITSELF) [32]

They need to check people for criminal backgrounds. We get American criminals flocking to Canada all the time. Each country all ready comes with enough criminals without needing any more.

she was sentanced to serve a minimum of 20 years. The ironic thing is that she came to britain to scrub floors and toilets and now shes in prison she will be doing the exact same thing. Except she will be working for less than minimum wage lol

Well its usually the poorest and most uneducated people that end up being criminals. Maybe you'll be her son's jailmate/b*tch one day :)

News / Thank you Polish patriotic emigrants for sending money to Poland [27]

But when you earn the money you can do what you like with it. You can spend it on yourself, save it, give it to charity or, indeed, send it to Poland if you like.

True, as long as you pay taxes you can do whatever you like with the money you earn.

sick sick sick, take from the country and send it home, i'm sick of hearing this rubbish!!!!.

If they're working legally and paying the proper taxes, how is it 'sick' to send money home? The thing about capitalism is that once you've earned the money, you can do pretty much anything you want with it. It especially makes sense to those that aren't planning on staying.

Life / Polish drinking/driving ages [14]

It depends where...
In smaller towns or villages they let you buy liquor as a teen or even child if you tell them that its for a parent (and they know you so they'll sell it to you).

Genealogy / Female names ending in 'A'.... why? [23]

Yeah i get the whole feminine thing but still, why?

I'm not an expert about these things but I think that feminine names were made in the first place to differentiate from male names. In the Polish language (and other languages as well) most female names are a female version of a male name, which would be why adding a feminine ending to a first name would have been necessary.

As for the last name thing....I'll never know the answer to that :)

And i didnt know about the second names, its always good to learn something new but would this mean if i married a Polish girl in Poland then she would have an altered version of my second name? or would i have to be Polish too?

I'm pretty sure you'd have to be Polish. If your last name is Smith, I doubt it that she'd call herself Mrs. Smitha. I've only seen it done with Polish and maybe Russian last names.

I forgot to add: It also depends on what your last name is. If its a 'ski', then it will be changed to 'ska' for a female. Not all last names do this. My last name ends in a 'k' and therefore no 'a' is added. Also, I have an uncle's whose last name is 'Rasala' and that is both the masculine and feminine form.

Language / I want to write/read/speak fluent Polish! [60]

However, that is exactly what you said.

She stated that she heard it on the radio. For someone that claims to be intelligent, you seem to have difficulties reading and comprehending simple English.

There is nothing posh or arrogant about a Tesol certificate

You're right, there isn't. I would hardly accuse you of being qualified.

To all those that want to learn Polish, good luck because it is not an easy language to learn :)
Spend some time on it everyday if you can (even 10min a day decomposing grammar and structure will help).

Genealogy / Female names ending in 'A'.... why? [23]

Why do all Polish Female names and in 'A'?

It's probably considered to be 'feminine'. Many countries do that where the feminine version ends with a vowel. ie the French prefer the 'e' (Danielle, Rochelle, Michelle, Adèle, Céline etc.).

The script was updated and improved; the negative is that some previously-uploaded files may look distorted because of a different resizing algorithm..

They look blurry.

Now they're tiny.
It was fine the way it was before...

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

bad/cheap/pointless :)
DropZone usually has a crazy ass lineup while the ride itself lasts about 7 seconds. The person drops as if they would in pretty much any roller coaster and this sensations doesn't feel any different. You just have to wait forever for getting 1/4 of the ride.

VPL

more or less visible? ;)

Yes, his parents divorced when he was two and now he hates all women and therefore justifiably chops their heads off. Poor guy, he must be so misunderstood.

UK, Ireland / Severed Head in Bag is an Eastern European Females [46]

Seems that they are only trying to trace her relatives at the moment and that it was her employer who reported her missing. I read earlier (Edinburgh Evening News) that the police aren't treating it as murder...so what is it then?

homicide?
Seriously though, a head doesn't chop itself off, so what else can the criminal be tried for (if he/she's ever caught)?

I feel awful for this girl and her family. I hope they catch the bastard soon.

Love / Fallen for a Polish Guy!! But he's got back to Poland to get married! [71]

i actually told that jerk to f*ck off and then he was calling me all sorts of names for chucking him, but later he said he thinks he will kill himself for being so stupid, and that he's always there and will always love me ha ha. i'm like mate, we've only gone out for 2 weeks and you stood me up the last time i was about to see you! i dont understand that sort of behaviour...

How dare you not be there where he wants, when he wants and how he wants? lol! I honestly don't understand the way men think sometimes. They ignore you without telling you why and then magically reappear and expect the woman to be delighted. Then they're astounded that the woman wants nothing to do with them.

Love / Fallen for a Polish Guy!! But he's got back to Poland to get married! [71]

nah he knows i'm engaged, i have a habit of talking about my fiance all the time lol and even that didnt put him off. he's a decent guy, but the whole situation is making me feel uneasy...

I know what you mean. I went on one date with a guy once and apparently we had friends in common and I found out like 3 months later that he was telling people that he's dating me! That made me feel very uneasy..

Yeah, its like they're jerks when you're with them but when you tell them to f*ck off, suddenly they're in love and want to stalk you until you give in. Yeah, men can be weird.

Love / Fallen for a Polish Guy!! But he's got back to Poland to get married! [71]

i'm actually hiding from one guy i have been talking to on msn for months, he's gotten a bit full on and i'm creeped out lol!

Did he think you were dating? Although, if he's a stalker he probably did think something was going on.
My sister's ex still calls her cell after being broken up for over two years and begs her to come back to him (he always forgets what a piece of sh*t he was when they were dating ). He calls our house sometimes and hangs up when anyone other than my sister picks up. He made up a bunch of accounts on facebook and tried to add both my sister and me. etc. He won't quit. I wish he'd pull a 'vanishing act'.

Love / Fallen for a Polish Guy!! But he's got back to Poland to get married! [71]

amen to that, Mali...

guys TAKE COVER!!!!! lol

LOL
Be afraid!

agreed, however its the same the other way around too:)

Of course its the same if a woman does it to a guy. Except I rarely hear about women 'vanishing'. Usually women will give excuses, but at least they'll tell the guy that they're not interested.

Love / Fallen for a Polish Guy!! But he's got back to Poland to get married! [71]

I don't even know my own intentions sometimes :)
However....in the 'vanishing act' situation, its completely pathetic that a guy can't say "hey, I like flirting with you but I don't want to be with you". When a guy vanishes, all it says to me is that he's too afraid to deal with the situation.

Language / misleading differences between Polish and English languages [92]

Polish and Croatian:
Polish - ćipka -> polite way of saying pussy/vagina
Croatian - ćipka (not sure how its actually spelled but the pronunciation is the same) -> a hand knitted doily.

My brother went to HR with his girlfriend (she's hrvatska) and her grandmother asked my brother if he wanted to buy a ćipka from some old lady. Its safe to say that he was more than a little bit 'confused' until his gf explained it to him. LOL
