UK, Ireland / UK Poles attack Daily Mail 'bias' [33]

<rubs hands together> ooooh, I so hope that NoImmi reads this...

Wasn't there a case recently where one of the DM's staffers was actively looking for employers who had experienced problems with Polish staff?

Love / Meaning of Friendship (my friends is going back to Poland) [57]

<virtual hug>

A really good mate of my husband's moved from Machester to California about 7 years ago, so we only really meet up about once a year, but we always have a riot whenever / wherever we meet up and pick up the banter from where we left off.

Flight prices are becoming more and more affordable, and where would be be without skype?

Love / Brit working in Poland - asking this Polish lady if she's in a relationship? [114]

No, not at all... you've got me wrong... there are plenty of guys here who have a thing about Polish girls - any Polish girls... doesn't matter what they look like, or what their character is like.... It just gets a bit tedious.

Anyway, I've given you some sound advice, haven't I?

Love / Brit working in Poland - asking this Polish lady if she's in a relationship? [114]

<LC wonders whether it is worth taking the p1ss out of yet another saddo who has fetishised Polish ladies, but decides that she can't be arsed>

1. Get her out of the office - invite her for coffee or for lunch... somewhere on neutral ground, plus if it all turns awkward, she can always use the excuse of getting back to work as a get-out clause.

2. Take it from there <LC refrains from using the term "suck it and see"> be patient and go with the flow.

3. Keep an open mind and avoid behaving like a stalker.

Life / A Brit living in Poland (update) [14]

Don't worry... I love visiting Germany for a short break, but I've always been driven nuts whenever I lived there.

Life / Contact details for hospitals in Lodz. [18]

Call around... it might be worth a shot... there is a list of hospitals on statmedica.com though I'd be very surprised if you get details on this girl.

Food / Feeding of Livestock in Poland [13]

Seriously, you'll be fine.

Polish food is great... I was a vegetarian for 8 years and never ate meat for most of that time (except on a few occasions when I was in China and in Russia on business, and didn't want to offent my hosts), however lots of recent trips to Poland are making me rethink what I eat, and I am back to eating meat.

I had the most devine piece of veal last time I was in Lublin... served with wild musrooms...

Life / Polish Train Travel - Scary? [101]

Infact I always had a great time in the restaurant car meeting a lot of people whilst having one or two beverages

That's always been one of the things that I've enjoyed about travelling around Central Europe by train.

Life / Mobile phone reception in Poland [17]

I've used orange (on my UK mobile) and it's been fine. I guess if you're going to be spending a long time there, then you might want to pick up a Polish SIM card.

Life / Polish Train Travel - Scary? [101]

I've travelled on Polish trains on business (lone female etc.), if it really wasn't safe, my company would not have put me on them.

Travel / Going to Poland this summer -- US dollar prediction... [34]

Ok, fair points... but let's assume that the OP is mainly going to be spending her cash on hotels, eating out, entertainment, sightseeing, transport, some amber beads etc these things are probably still better value in Poland than in the US.

I couldn't tell a lie... Westbury. Under the White Horse, not far from the corn circles (and the cement factory).

Ah, maybe not... I grew up near Radstock, famed for... err... not a lot, other than being near Bath and having some rough pubs.

Wiltshire - Moonraker county

Come on then.... tell the story.... I bet a lot of people here don't know why folk from that part of the world are called Moonrakers.

the fine city of Bath with its Roman baths and nice architecture (and because I was born there - yes it was in the county of Avon at the time),

Ooooh I might know you... I think that you're roughly the same age as me (early 30s, right?) and I grew up outside of Bath.
