Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

will work for next to nothing

For anyone who doesn't know - there is a national minimum wage in the UK, currently set at £5.52 for those over the age of 22 who work legally (or for legit companies). It's low but it's ceratinly not "next to nothing". I know a lot of people (Polish and otherwise) who work extremely hard for this wage (often while trying to put themselves through college etc).

UK, Ireland / The best place to live on my own in the UK? [57]

There are so many places and almost every big city can lead to beautiful countryside, either by car or by bus

I agree with this statement. So it's going to be a difficult decision but I reckon you need to have an idea about which part of the UK you prefer. I'll be biased and say Scotland is a nice place with big and small cities and easy access to the countryside (and if you drive - even better). Good luck.

I dont like springer cause he gives americans a bad name.

There is a talk show host here called Jeremey Kyle and he is much the same. He brings the worst of society onto his show and that's the impression people of Britain. Great!

He has his own show now, he used to be a cop

I knew he was an ex-cop and heard he had his own show but never saw any evidence of it! :)

Yeah the film it here in Chicago, Oprah too

Unlucky! :)

Why did they make a musical about Jerry Springer? I thought that was a little odd.

To the Polish man who scaped my non-stick saucepan with a metal spoon - you shall suffer.
That's how much.

Oh dear...I sense a minor hoofing... :)

What? Has it bin in the news again? It happened decades ago.

Yep, go to BBC News or whatever one you prefer, but on BBC it's on the front page.

And I doubt looy even knows what was said in the whole speech, only what's been mentioned on the news the past few days...

But I think people should just follow Daffy's advice above. Ignore the troll...they thrive on reaction...

Feedback / Forum suggestion: What about Polonia - Ireland? [65]

Yeah, I think so to, and I also think UK should be spelled out fully, out of respect for the country.

be we usually say "UK and Ireland" in quick speech - not United Kingdom and Ireland (or the even longer name :)

Great Britain is only the name of an island now (compromsing of Scotland/England/Wales), within the United Kingdom (which of course includes Northern Ireland). Originally Scotland/England were the only members Great Britain. It became the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland somewhere along the line and then the United Kingdom of Great Britain of Northern Ireland when the Republic of Ireland split away (dates fail me).

Therefore, it's not part of GB because GB is just an island within a country - really :)

UK, Ireland / Polls for Poles in the UK [178]

But please leave it up.

If you mean "don't delete it" then it won't be deleted as it's a thread (mostly) related to Poland or a Polish issue.

if you feel it serves no purpose then you can lock it.

If you feel it's reached the point when further posts are not going to be about "Polls for Poles" and will continue on with just arguing about anything, it can be locked (but as I stated before - still readable).

I'm sorry but you seem to be laying it all on me. it may not be true but its how i feel.

You are the author of the thread. It's heading off topic now so I'm wondering why you continue with it. The election was a week ago, was my point. The arguments now seem to have nothing to do with the election or polls.

why not tell everybody that its not worth talking about and just close it down??

Are you requesting that your topic be locked? (Still available to read)

Tornado

I can't believe after 4 days you are still going on about this. Let it go. For one, it was a week ago. For another, what's the purpose of constantly bringing it up? You've made the points you wanted to. So it's arguing for arguments sake now, isn't it?

Feedback / My Thoughts on this Forum and Moderators [71]

You may find some information in this link regarding the moving/merging of some threads.
I cannot comment on your thread but as a general rule, threads that are similar can be merged. To save yourself some time, use the search function at the top right of the screen to find out if a thread you're thinking of starting may already exist. :)

don't agree with thread deletions at all

Once again, the only threads that will be deleted are from the "Off Topic Lounge (deletable)". Polish threads may be locked but any information within them is not lost as they are available to read. :)

Feedback / THE NEWLY DIVIDED SINGLE SECTION STINKS. It's not fun anymore. [16]

It's fairly easy. If you're male or female and looking for the opposite sex, the first two are for you! :)

Friends (with maybe something more) are dealt with in the Penpals section and anything else comes under Polish Love and Relationships...? No?

:)
