UK, Ireland / English food - unhealthy? [52]

oh grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat my fav thread is back! Personally I find that Polish Chleb very stodgy and hard to digest.. give me a brown multi-grain freshly baked loaf anyday... available from all good supermarkets and bakeries in the UK. Talking of which, Ive noticed a huge increase in Polish food supplies in Uk supermarkets recently. Tescos and Sainsburys have had ranges for a while, but in the last month or so Morrissons and now Costcutter have all got Polish ranges, most of which are cheaper than the local Polish food stores, so Polish food shops in the Uk are being undercut by the supermarket giants.. could go on, but Im so hungry I need to head down the kebab shop.

Food / Poland's Summertime! Let's BBQ [79]

ah well.. each to their own.. strawberries are nice after all that meat and they cleanse the palate.. and wine is just nice any time. only my opinion of course. I would also recommend potato salad and bulghar wheat salad along with more traditional green or tomato salads.. and lots of chilli sauce, mustard, ketchup etc. etc..... must go Im feeling very hungry.

Food / Poland's Summertime! Let's BBQ [79]

mmm.. I have one veggie friend who wont even go to a BBQ cos of the smell.. but shes very weird anyway. I used to be a veggie but now eat meat and when I was a veggie it didnt bother me as long as the meat wasnt touching the veg stuff, but I know some people are a lot more fussy.. its a dilemma tho isnt it if you have lots of veggie friends a and lots of meat eaters.. do you buy two BBQs or end up grilling veggie burgers in the kitchen? Even tho. I eat meat now I still prefer the veggie food.. so maybe thats the answer BW.. also whenever we order sandwiches for a meeting, Ive noticed the veggie ones seem to go first..they always seem more attractive somehow.

how about BBQd plantains? (savoury bananas).. wrap them in foil and serve with hot Jamaican sauce.. make a tasty vegetarian treat. Salads are important too.. at least 2 or 3 different types to serve with your choice of meat. What do veggies think about cooking meat and veggie options on the same grill.. acceptable or not? guess it depends how fussy you are about not eating animal fats.

UK, Ireland / How do people perceive Poland in the UK? [28]

yes, British people do travel, but not many have been to eastern Europe or Poland. Spain, Portugal, France - yes. Eastern Europe - where's that?

actually many of us have believe it or not. I think you show a disrespectul attitude to your mother-in-law, whatever you might think of her.. you chose to marry her son and she is now part of your family. If you want to live here than stop moaning about Brits and maybe she would like you better.

telefonitika is right.. it really depends on the individual. If you are an employer looking for hard workers or someone with a Polish partner or friends then you would obviously have a more positive attitude than someone who is against too many foreigners coming into the country.. and since the influx of Poles is particularly high, there has been some backlash from certain ignorant members of soceity against Polish people.. there are extremes at both ends so its not wise to generalise. Even my Polish partner who has been here for 5 years looks at newer arrivals who fit the stereotypical image (eg) men in baseball hats drinking in the park or using the K word on the bus etc. etc... with some disdain at times, to put it mildly.. he got approached by a Polish guy begging the other day and told him to speerdalay. As for me, I like the Poles, but a bloody Bulgarian nicked my phone the other day and racked up £300 worth of calls, so they can all **** off home.

Travel / Fly to Poland [32]

nothing wrong with GWK.. there are 2 terminals.. North and South, so make sure you are in the correct one.. they are interconnected by a small shuttle train but its only a few mins between the 2. Its a pretty big airport and some of the departure gates are a 20 min walk.

Love / HOW MANY TIMES CAN YOU LOVE IN A LIFETIME? Once, twice or many ... [70]

I attract only the best of single, sincere, Polish men!"

how many Polish men over the age of 30 do you think are single or capable of getting divorced?..generally they get settled down younger than western nations dont they and divorce is more unlikely? ... or maybe times are changing?

I like all European Airports.

I like them too -- but the funny (and rather very surprising thing for me) are the so called "dedicated spots for smokers." In the US when there's a place to smoke, others cannot basically smell the smoke while on European airports they just draw a line in the hall and write: "this is smokers area". All passengers have to breathe in the smoke with the smokers as they have to go thru the hall

not for long mate... some like Barcelona are totally non-smoking and most will be following suit very shortly... the UK is starting a no smoking in all public places ban on 1st July.. dont agree with it personally, but there you go.. Big Brother is upon us.

Love / Foreigner's opinion about polish ladies [304]

unicornes.. you are young and this guy took advantage of you.. not all men are bad, just treat each one as a learning curve and you will eventually find the right one. Not all Nigerians are bad either, yes the country has a terrible reputation for corruption and there are many corrupt individuals, but also some lovely warm hearted people... having said that I went on a date with a Nigerian once.. and he was extremely dodgy.. but hey.
