Travel / I am free - Hello Poland. Need advice about travelling in Poland. [16]

Further reading suggests driving in Poland is challenging,

It can be....but i am a Brit who has lived in Poland for five years , and much of my travel has been on a motorcycle...they ain,t got me...yet....!

If you are really going to sleep in the car get yourself an ex army arctic sleeping bag , that will keep you warm enough even at minus 20...I have to tell you tho from experiance that sleeping in a car is not comfortable , unless you have a 4 x 4 that has room to lay flat and not curled up...Its actually colder to sleep in a car than it is to sleep in a tent , but a little more secure....If you stop to get some kip , parking in a layby where every passing motorist can see a Brit alone and a long way from home is not so good an idea...again if you have a 4 x 4 you can drive a bit deeper into the forest....if they can,t see you , they can,t do you any harm....

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

I meant specifically beheading them back,

But the problem is the guys are only too happy to die for Allah...which makes them hard to deter in a war...

News / Stealing electricity in Poland... being resourceful or theft? [21]

is it the wattage rather than the voltage that's dangerous.

Its the Watts that are deadly....i had a shock of several thousand volts from a racing motorcycle ignition system..not pleasant , but not a killer as there were not so many of them watts in it....

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

The sad fact is that its almost impossible to defeat such terrorists in a war..the only way to stop it is to remove the need for the terrorists to do what they do..or get them to the stage where they see their actions are not getting them anywhere....We are a long way from both i think....

thats right...one Fiji guy killed in Oman , one injured....Take a look in St Marys churchyard in Hereford there are more than a few non English names there , and on the clock tower in the S.A.S HQ...

Carpet bombing

I was never sure if carpet bombing meant dropping cluster bombs on somebodies carpet , or actually dropping a roll of axminster on the enemy position......

News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

I just wish i could get all these brave beheaders together in one place...i could happily shoot the lot of them and still sleep at night.....its a horrible way to die the way these animals do this , and my thoughts are with the Polish guys family....In case anyone thinks these beheadings are a swift way to die they should see the many video,s posted on the net...it actually consists of the head being slowly severed while the victim is fully awake using a small and not so sharp knife....

The potential is enormous !

Ha , so would be the amount of stuff missing after they had gone.....I have many lovley Polish friends , but the Buraks around here seem willing to take anything that is not nailed down , actually i should change that statement , a few things that were nailed down went missing....

Who is the best?? anyone guess.....

There are a few units around the world that are pretty good , but its hard to think of any good ones that didn,t get their initial training from the S.A.S.....USA , Germany , Holland , etc...

Life / Car Window Tinting - is it legal in Poland? [20]

tint to prevent people to look inside my car

But do you not think that if its difficult for people to see into the car...it might be just as difficult for people to see out of it.....I am all in favour of people making their cars look cool , but not if i splatter myself and my motorcycle aginst the side of such a machine because the driver could not see me....I came very close to such an accident one night with a Polish BMW with blacked out windows....

Stay away from ireland, if he makes it.

Do you mean disobey an order from a superior officer....i think thats kind of frowned upon....or is your threat intended to put him off going as a tourist....?

'Special Forces Today',

What do we hear of the efforts of special forces worldwide? Very little.

Yeah , its a bit of a shame when people do heroic deeds and don,t get a medal due to the publicity it would bring to guys who ain,t supposed to be there....and sad when wives are told their husband has been killed in action when she thought he was on exercise in the welsh mountains....but thats the price the pilgrims pay....

obsessed with the army and he wants to go in the SAS

Army barmy we used to call it....No doubt your boyfriend has read the many books on the S.A.S , and probably he will have noticed the faces of any troopers in the regiment are blanked out , unless they are dead , and the names are not given...You can probably guess why such soldiers are not wanting publicity...Comming on this forum and anouncing your boyfriends intention to join the regiment is probably not such a good idea....

If he really is intent on this course of carreer then i see no reason he can,t make it , thats if his goal is the serve with the best...If however he simply wants to impress his mates in the pub , he won,t make the first week of selection....If he makes it into the regiment the only people he can trust to tell are other S.A.S troopers , and they ain,t going to be impressed....I wish him luck , its not an easy selection....

Life / Car Window Tinting - is it legal in Poland? [20]

You could always buy a few pairs of sunglasses for your passengers to wear...cheaper than tinting , and you can take em off when it gets dark , as opposed to driving around half blind and blundering into the path of people on motorcycles....

Love / In love with polish cleaning woman, but don't speak an OUNCE of polish :( [57]

go for the best looking girl in the place

There is a lot of truth in that....when i was younger there were certain girls that nobody would chat up , as they were just so pretty and thought to be out of our league , but later when i was doing a bit good at being a motorcycle race champion i had no fear of chatting up the most stunning girl in the place...Only later did it occur to me that they didn,t actually know i was a bit famous , and looked the same as before....So the only thing that had changed , was that i was more confident , and less fearfull of being told to take a hike....So guys....get out there , and go for the good lookers , you never know , you might be just what she is looking for , and if she says get lost , well what the hell , its no matter.....
